Stoic Luft Down Sweater - Men's

January 14, 2010

It is water resistant to some extent, ie. OK in light rain or snow. But not more than that. Its definitely not waterproof.

Great jacket

Stoic Luft Down Sweater - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 3, 2010

This is great jacket with an awesome fit, perfect warmth. Have gone with it in New England winter for now 2 months and it has done the job even in low teens conditions (with the right base layers). Love the plentiful pockets too. It does size a bit small and had to get an L when I usually go with M. But I use as an outer jacket primarily, not a layering piece.

Backcountry.com Dawn Patrol Vaccuum Coffee Tumbler - 3-Pack

Backcountry.com Dawn Patrol Vaccuum Coffee Tumbler - 3-Pack

Rating for this product: 2 January 3, 2010

Keep drinks hot, but that's it. Insulation is great but they are too small to be really useful on the BC or camping and there is no real mug to drink from. Then they are quite useless as a commuting cup with no hold and no system in the lid to drink from.

Great down jacket; check size/use

Stoic Luft Down Sweater - Men's

Stoic Luft Down Sweater - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 15, 2009

This a great jacket, very warm in East Coast frigid temperatures, looks nice and sturdy. Loved the fleeced cuffs.
Be careful when choosing your size though. It does indeed run a bit too fit and is true to size only as a layering piece. Had to return it for a bigger size since I want to use it more as a jacket and put layers underneath it.

Great bag but...

Timbuk2 333 Classic Messenger Bag

Timbuk2 333 Classic Messenger Bag

Rating for this product: 3 May 2, 2009

This bag is great, very stylish but be careful: contrary to the description above, this bag does NOT have a laptop pocket. It is just one main compartment with small organizing pockets in the front. I bought thinking I could use for my laptop, so now I have to buy a laptop sleeve in addition to protect it...

K2 Schi Devil Telemark Ski - Women's

April 21, 2009

Actually I have a friend who bought them and she couldn't get Marker's AT binding (Baron I think) mounted on them. Don't know about the pattern of Fritschi's or Dynafit's. My understainf is that the inserts are specifically for telemark bindings and I have used them successfully so.

Backcountry.com Gift Certificate

January 2, 2009

Someone in France wants to offer me a gift certificate (lucky me). However, France is not a country listed in the scroll menu for credit card payment (quite unbelievable...). Some one why that is and can it be fixed? Thanks.

Marker Baron Ski Bindings

December 9, 2008

Yes, but new holes will need to be drilled.> Actually, I checked and the answer is no. There is not enough space left from the predrilled inserts to drill new ones.

Great pants

Arc'teryx Theta SV Bib - Men's

Arc'teryx Theta SV Bib - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 9, 2008

Great pants for skiing and mountaineering in NH and VT. Have used them a few days now and I love them. A few comments though. First, this is a hard shell, so wear some really warm tights under them. Regular bottoms were not warm enough for really cold freezing temps here in New England. Second, I can tell unfortunately that they are not completely unbreakable: already got a little scratch from tree skiing (granted it was a serious wipe out...). No big deal but for >$400 pant, I expected stronger material. And last, but this is cosmetic, the fit is a bit baggy (got the S/Tall and I am 6'0 for 175 lbs).

K2 Mt. Baker Alpine Touring Ski

October 24, 2008

I bought these skis and I am planning to mount telemark bindings on them. It seems however that they are "recommended" for AT. Any hint why these skis would not be as good for telemark (like its flex, ...)?
