  • Stomping Grounds:

Gunnison, Colorado or anywhere in the Rockies
  • Bio:

Having raised three adenaline-seeking children and sending them off to college, my husband & I can now persue OUR intrests. They include, but are not limited to: Alpine skiing, telemark skiing, Nordic skiing, snow shoeing, hiking, camping, backpacking, fly fishing, biking. I runn three or more miles a day with our dog. Yoga is a must!
The kids are all backcountry free-heelers. So far, I perfer chairlifts, but our kids are pretty persistant and I expect that we will probably be joining them one day soon. I have tried climbing with our kids, but so far, I have not been able to get over my fear. While skiing is my true passion, fly fishing is my husbands. He ties his own flies and fishing is a 12 month sport for him. We live outside of Chicago, but spend as much time as possible in and around Gunnison. Someday soon, Gunni will be home.

ALPS Mountaineering Camp Table

June 16, 2009

We planned on a camping trip- but I'm not a big fan of all day rains. So we helped our daughter with a little project and this table came in very handy! It easily held quite a bit of weight, assembled quick, cleaned in a snap. Now I really can't wait to take it camping.

Very Useful Shirt

Ex Officio Dryflylite Button-Up Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Ex Officio Dryflylite Button-Up Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 May 18, 2009

This shirt is very light on the skin. After a day of fishing - and actually catching!- I wasn't done in the water, but I did not want to be in the sun anymore. I put this on uder my vest a little afraid if it would be comfortable. Forgot about that concern after the first cast. I'm 5'4" 125 and the small fits great. I like that it doesn't have shirt tails cuz it looks great tucked in or out. Nice added feature- the two zipper pockets!

Teko Light Low Sock - Women's

Teko Light Low Sock - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 11, 2009

I run 3 or more miles a day. Previous to owning Teko, I ran in Under Armour. I would have to change socks after my run. Not any more! The dry quickly and are still comfy. The additional height at the rear of the ankle is a really great feature. These will be the socks I use on my backpacking/hikes this summer.

Patagonia Capilene 3 Zip-Neck - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 May 11, 2009

I got this for my husband for a base layer for skiing and he loves it. He is 5'11" and about 185, the medium fits perfect. He wears it from early fall until spring for anything outside. The only garment he likes better is anything merino.

Great shoe --Better price

Atlas E9 Series Elektra Snowshoe - Women's

Atlas E9 Series Elektra Snowshoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 8, 2009

I have been on these shoes for two years. I average 2-3 miles a day, 5 days a week (when there is snow. I have a black lab and he loves to romp in the snow). These shoes are very easy to put on. They are not too long and are great in dense woods or in open fields with deep snow. I have not had a backpack on when I use them. I think for longer overnight hikes, a longer pair would be more suitable. This price is really good!!

This is an all day boot

Scarpa T1 Lady Telemark Ski Boot - Women's

Scarpa T1 Lady Telemark Ski Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 6, 2009

When I took up telly skiing, my husband could not figure it out. I explained that tlley to alpine was like fly fishing to spin casting . He then bought me these boots for Christmas. He so gets it now. When I wear these, I adjust them after my first run- tighten htem up a bit. Then they are good to go for the rest of the day. Even apres ski or tail gating after rippin' it up, I do not need to adjust or loosen. Definately go through the steps to have them fitted properly, it takes about 40 minutes, but worth it. Euro sizing is very true, do dont need to go up a size. One more suggestion: one pair of light merino socks is all you need.
