The North Face Condor Triclimate Jacket - Men's
November 10, 2008
The softshell liner is made of Apex (a TNF proprietary fabric) which is nylon-fleece material. It will keep you dry in light rain and is a good insulator. The inside is soft like fleece and the outside is slightly harder to the touch.

Columbia Blade Run Parka - Men's
November 10, 2008
First off, these are two completely different jackets. The Oracle is more waterproof, but the Blade Runner is more insulated (obviously, since it contains a removable fleece). Both are good for different uses, but neither is the best in its respected category. If you're looking for a ski/snowboard jacket (like the Blade Runner), you'd be better off getting something from TNF, Marmot, etc. that is made of Gore-Tex, especially if you are looking for maximum waterproofing. Then you can purchase a less expensive midlayer fleece for insulation. I find that it is most important to have a good outer shell, because it is the only thing keeping you dry, whereas it is easy to add more baselayers in order to keep warm. If you are looking for more of just an outdoor jacket (like the Oracle), there are a lot of good choices from a lot of different makers. Just make sure you know what you want.
