My Favorite Pad

Pacific Outdoor Equipment SL Lite Sleeping Pad

Pacific Outdoor Equipment SL Lite Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 4 November 9, 2008

I have been using this brand of pad since 2005, and I have used it far more than any other pad I have owned. That being said, the SL Lite is an ultralight pad and probably isn't going to give you the comfort or warmth you get from a bulkier pad "3 season".

My favorite thing about this pad is that it does roll up very small. Also at this price I can afford to replace it almost every season if it gets beat up too bad.

Cons of this pad are that it is too long, for a spring summer pad it doesn't need to be full length. I have cut mine down to 3/4 length and I only carry the bottom piece on cold nights, in which case I put it under my shoulders.

I've used this pad in the Sierras and Banff and on a couple PCT sections.

I really like it.

Good stuff indeed

Accelerade Sports Drink

Accelerade Sports Drink

If you plan on exercising for more than 2 hours this is the stuff you need. Without a little protein you start to burn muscle around the 2nd hour. I dink it hot as well, I like the taste but could do without the faom. :) Bottoms Up.

Nice Weight Saver.

Black Diamond Spot Headlamp

Black Diamond Spot Headlamp

Rating for this product: 4 April 24, 2008

I've been using this lamp for about 3 years now and I have no complaints. I do a good amount of night hiking and I notice that with this lamp I am usually the one who breaks trail at night. There might be a handful of brighter LED lamps out there now, but none of them compare in weight. Like Stormking, I also tried lithium batteries to save a bit more weight but noticed decreased performance and battery life over conventional batteries. Great Headlamp Really.
