Super warm and comfortable but too soft

K2 Raider Boa Snowboard Boot - Men's

K2 Raider Boa Snowboard Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 12, 2008

These were the most comfortable snowboard boots I've ever worn - very comfortable and warm, and the fast-in lacing system with the Boa outer laces makes getting in and out of them a snap. My only problem with them is that the flex was too soft - they're listed as 'medium' flex but it was quite a bit softer than I expected. (That's probably why they're so comfortable though.) I had to tighten the Boa laces and my binding ratchets so tight that I couldn't get in more than one or two long runs without my feet starting to ache, but that was the only way I could get the responsiveness I wanted out of these boots. Otherwise they're perfect.

Awesome Goggles

Smith Phenom Spherical Series Goggles - Mirror Lens

Smith Phenom Spherical Series Goggles - Mirror Lens

Rating for this product: 5 March 11, 2008

I have the Phenom goggles with the Ignitor lens, and they're awesome. Maybe it's just the shape of my face, but they fit me much better than the Oakley Crowbar goggles, which were a bit too angular. The Phenom fits with my Giro G9 helmet nicely with no gaps, and I have not had any fogging issues in weather ranging from 0 degrees F and clear to upper 30's and rainy. The Ignitor lens is a great option for medium to bright light conditions, but it's tough to make out the bumps in flat to low light or in shadows. Visual clarity is superb all around.

Warm and Good Dexterity

DAKINE Cobra Glove - Men's

DAKINE Cobra Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 11, 2008

These gloves are warm and I love the low-profile wrist cuffs that fit underneath my shell. Gauntlets will keep snow out better in case you wipe out, but I find them more annoying to take on and off repeatedly. The Velcro strap adjustment on the wrist cuff isn't very well designed, it's a bit short but still better than nothing. These gloves aren't bulky so dexterity is great given how warm they are. I've only worn these gloves on a few day trips, but other folks have experienced the seams coming loose. Time will tell how durable they are, but so far they are great.
