Who says you have to spend alot on good shorts?!

Giordana Silverline 8 Cycling Short - Women's

Giordana Silverline 8 Cycling Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 17, 2009

So far, these are my favorite cycling shorts this season. I just bought a 2nd pair of these short. They fit a slight bit tighter than my other bike shorts (Fuji & Pearl Izumi), but once you get past this, I gurantee you will love them. They are true to size - I typically wear a medium and this is what I wear in these shorts (I'm 5-ft 8-in and 135 lbs).

Great ski so far

Line Celebrity Alpine Ski - Women's

Line Celebrity Alpine Ski - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 December 31, 2008

I ended up with these skis by chance (they were not my first choice). To date, I am not disappointed. To date, I have only used them 3 days (over Xmas weekend), but so far so good. They float through powder with ease (the pow was up to my knees!), but also performed good on the groomed slopes. It took me a few runs to get used to them on groomed slopes since the width underfoot is wider than I'm used to (my last skis were 72 mm underfoot). FYI...I mounted them with the Rossi SAS 120 wide binding - awesome binding!

Worth the splurge

Zeal Aspect SPPX Goggle

Zeal Aspect SPPX Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 December 16, 2008

I used these goggles for the first time this weekend, and I have to say they are the best goggles ever! During the weekend, I skied in both flat light and very sunny conditions. It was nice not too have to worry about switching out lenses. I would recommend spending the extra money to get these goggles - they are definitely worth it!

Look no more - get these pants!

The North Face Freedom Insulated Boot-Cut Pant - Women's

The North Face Freedom Insulated Boot-Cut Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 8, 2008

I finally found the perfect fitting ski pant! It has been a long and frustrating journey, but my search is now over. These pants fit a woman's curves in all the right places without feeling tight and constricting while skiing. The waistline falls just below my belly-button, and I have not had any problems with these pants being to low to tuck in baselayers (no snow down my pants yet).

One more question...would the 165's be too long for me? I'm 5'8" and 132 lbs. Over the last few years, I've been skiing 150-153 cm. Thanks!

My favorite outer baselayer

Marmot Power Stretch Zip Hooded Fleece Jacket - Women's

Marmot Power Stretch Zip Hooded Fleece Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 3, 2008

I have this version of the jacket without the hood. It is my favorite outer baselayer for skiing, and will be buying a few more for this season. I typically wear it over a merino wool long-sleeve baselayer on really cold days on the slopes to keep me warm. You can't go wrong with this jacket!

Good socks to break in new boots

Fox River Activa Ski Sock - Women's

Fox River Activa Ski Sock - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 December 1, 2008

I have several pairs of these socks. They are thin with minimal shin padding/cushioning, which make them the most comfortable socks I've found to use when breaking in new ski boots.

Runs a little small

Marmot Lightweight Crew - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Marmot Lightweight Crew - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 December 1, 2008

This baselayer does its job keeping you warm and dry, but be warned that it runs on the small size. I typically wear a small in other baserlayer long sleeve crews, but this one is a little too tight for my liking - especially in arm pits and upper arms.

Can anyone suggest a binding for this ski? I'm an advanced intermediate planning to improve my powder skills this year (but still want to ski bumps and groomed trails). Thanks!

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 30, 2008

This is my 3rd merino shirt from Backcountry, and it definitely will not be my last! It is my go-to baselayer. It does not itch, and keeps me warm without ever getting chilled like you do with synthetic baselayers. Another plus is the thumb holes - I am finding less and less shirts that have these, which it disappointing. You won't be sorry purchasing this item!!

K2 Lotta Luv Ski w/ Marker M1 11.0 Ti Binding - Women's

November 29, 2008

I've been looking at both this ski and Burnin Luv. This year I will be spending approximately 95% of my time skiing Colorado (I'm a blue/black skier). Over the past several years, I've been skiing the east coast and the alps on carving skis. I don't have much experience in powder and would like to improve my skills in powder, but still want to rip the groomed slopes and hit the bumps. Any help on which ski to go with? (I would be will to go with other than K2 ski) Thanks!

These pants are ok, but....

The North Face Freedom Insulated Pant - Women's

The North Face Freedom Insulated Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 November 24, 2008

I just received these pants. They fit fine (I got the Small/long - I'm 5'7.5" & around 133 lbs), but I think I like them in the boot-cut version better. I recently tried on the boot-cut in a local store prior to receiving these pants. The boot-cut fit me better and felt more comfortable. These pants are too baggy for me from the knee down - the boot-cut version had a all-around better fit. These still look good, so I probably will keep them since I'm too lazy to return.

Great hat!

The North Face Denali Thermal Beanie

The North Face Denali Thermal Beanie

Rating for this product: 5 November 18, 2008

My favorite hat! I wear both on and off the slopes. I like it because it is not a real tight fit like most hats, but still keeps my ears toasty.

Good goggles, but...

Dragon DXS Goggle

Dragon DXS Goggle

Rating for this product: 3 March 20, 2008

These goggles do the job on nice days, but not in flat light. When I purchased them, I did not realize they were not polarized (my bad for not reading the specs carefully). However, they fit with my helmet great and the fit was perfect for my small head. In addition, I got a lot of compliments for their looks.

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 March 20, 2008

I usually do not like wool because it has always been uncomfortable to me (even merino wool). However, this item changed my opinion on wool and will definitely buy more in the future!
