Big Agnes Seedhouse SL1 Super Light Tent: 1-Person 3-Season

July 22, 2009

I set up my tent after a hard day backpacking for me and it was a breeze...I then snuggled it up inside a small tree area for shade and it fit perfectly! I had my sleeping pad, sleeping bag, and 50L backpack in it all at the same time...later that night the list includes me! I sleep with my head on the small end so it's more comfortable to maneuver and easier to put shoes on and exit.

Big Agnes Seedhouse SL1 Super Light Tent: 1-Person 3-Season

July 22, 2009

They are for guying out the sides of the tent so they don't curve in from the outside. The ones with hooks you can attach to your edge of tent there before staking and the other can be guyed to the stake or farther out if necessary. But they are overall necessary for proper functioning of the tent.

Size Up

Patagonia Active Sport High Impact Bra C/D - Women's

Patagonia Active Sport High Impact Bra C/D - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 June 9, 2009

Overall a nice addition to my wardrobe but definitely should have gone a size up on this one. I'm typically a 36C or D at a well known retailer for undergarments (VS) but the 36 in this was pretty tight. Granted this would make for an active fight, keeping things in place, it also made for some discomfort. Next time I'll pick up the 38 instead. Otherwise, the fabric and styling is great.

Snow Camp

SmartWool Midweight Zip Top - Women's

SmartWool Midweight Zip Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 June 5, 2009

I took this midweight set (bottoms sold seperately) with me to snow camp and found them to be almost perfect for the occassion. The off white color was great for me as I am not a fan of blacks and the fit was just to the charts. The only difference I would have made, hence the four stars, is the length. It was decent but I found myself tucking in the top way too often to keep my lower back warm. On the other hand, I wore it for 3 days straight with minimal smell by the end of it...backpacking. A great piece for the price.

Peru anyone????

Pacsafe SlingSafe 100 Purse

Pacsafe SlingSafe 100 Purse

Rating for this product: 4 June 5, 2009

I recently bought this for my 2 week trip to Peru. It worked great for the use roaming around the Amazon, Machu Picchu and Cuzco....I felt safe with the material and liked the adjustment of the shoulder strap depending on my activity at the time in any of the places. The beige was a nice neutral color and even when it got a little dirty it didn't look bad. Actually it looked cool in the front because the dirt caused the internal mess to show through making it very apparent how strong the purse was indeed. This product was great for the price. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because a little loop on the back already started tearing, possible due to the velcro near it. Overall it didn't matter because I never used the loop (the purse stayed on me constantly) but I was a little disappointed by that little odd lack of quality. I'd buy the product again for sure.

Finally I found great boots

KEEN Oregon PCT Hiking Boot - Women's

KEEN Oregon PCT Hiking Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 15, 2009

I did a Wilderness Travel Course over the past winter and needed to find a pair of boots that would fit my hard to comfort feet as well as hold up in the snow while backpacking. I had so many issues with other boots from cutting off circulation to rubbing the heel to squeezing my toes, nothing was fitting me properly...I exhausted at least 6 brands of boots...then I remembered how lovely Keens felt on my feet and hoped they had something for the winter. After some research and customer service, I found these. After breaking them in on long hikes and into snow travel and finally snow camping, I was impressed by how well they held up as well as how nicely they kept the cold out. Perfection! Typcially I wear 9 in Keens, I wore 9 in these also.

Almost Perfect

Columbia Delancey Boot - Women's

Columbia Delancey Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 15, 2009

Love love love these boots for casual wear. I'm only in So Cal, but I get quite cold during the winter compared to most and needed something to really keep my feet warm and be cute and comfortable, this did the trick! They look good with jeans or a cute long skirt. I typically wear a 8.5 and got these in an 8.5 and they fit great with a medium thickness sock (or two thin). My only complaint is that the pull on the back to help get these on came off of one within a couple of monthes and unfortunately BC was out of my size and color, so no exchange. It doesn't make a major difference and I'll keep wearing them but I was just surprised and a little bummed it broke so soon. Otherwise, I'm constantly having to hold off buying another pair in another color, they are that great.

White and light, why yes it is...

CAMP USA Silver Star Climbing Helmet

CAMP USA Silver Star Climbing Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 May 15, 2009

Love this helmet, extremely comfortable. I orginally bought it for canyoneering and it's worked out great. It's fairly light (though years of fancy bike helmets spoiled me) and is easily adjustable. The white model is just that, white, the pictures look a little off, but I wanted to mention that because I was wondering when I bought it also. The vents allow for air movement which is great in the southern california summer heat. The only reason it gets a little warm is all of the padding in the top of the helmet, though it's worth it for the fit and safety of my noggen.

Amazing Amphibian

Salomon Tech Amphibian Sandal - Women's

Salomon Tech Amphibian Sandal - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 21, 2008

Love these shoes!!! I've used them on a straight hike that ended at water and the entire time through to the end they were great. I've also used them for a hike that I had close to 30 water crossings in 10 miles. No problems whatsoever. While I was splashing across the river others were concerned with changing their shoes constantly at each crossing. Also I have other types of water shoes that would get rocks caught up under the feet, these get only a little bit of sand which the only time I can tell it was there was when I took them off in the end. Great shoes. Typically I wear a size 8 standard shoe and a 8.5 sport shoe, in these I bought a 7.5...twice. I could have used an 8 but I only wear a thin double layered sock to ward off the possibility of blisters.

Quite nice

Patagonia Active Classic Cami - Women's

Patagonia Active Classic Cami - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 October 6, 2008

I bought a few of these in the white and the natural colors. The fit was perfect, not too big or small for me anywhere. A problem I had was color stains in the white. During a few trips the dirt was very dark and it stained it completely, nothing has taken it out, only lightened it. Luckily I have a second white to play nicely in and the other to be dirty. Second is the wicking and drying, only a mediocre for those items. It is definitely an active casual top, not active active top.

Salomon Sport Amphibian Shoe - Women's

September 16, 2008

Find a double layer coolmesh sock to help prevent chaffing and blistering. The double layer acts as a buffer for sliding instead of using your skin. Blisters no more!!!!! I started out using them for sprint tri's when I didn't want to transistion shoes and now any wet times or even highly humid days I'm care free in the double layers.

Cute, compact, lightweight

Petzl Zipka Plus Headlamp

Petzl Zipka Plus Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 September 8, 2008

This headlamp is the perfect addition to my lightweight gear. It's only the size of the headlamp itself and the headband zips up into the front when not in use. Great for typical use or even around the wrist for additional lighting.

Very nice and light

Big Agnes Seedhouse SL1 Super Light Tent: 1-Person 3-Season

Big Agnes Seedhouse SL1 Super Light Tent: 1-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 August 28, 2008

This 1 person tent is definitely that, a 1 person tent. The good thing is it has room at the opening to snuggly fit my pack inside if there is bad weather or just for the comfort of proximity in lieu of the vestible which it would also fit. The length is great for a 1 person tent as well and the small side of the length is still not too small for maximum comfort. Overall very light and compact, perfect for backpacking and minimizing on camping trips when needed. The only qualm I have with this is getting the full setup for the outer sides to fully go out and not cave in. Maybe I need more time with it and to set up the guywires but then that would defeat use on backpacking. Oh and an added benefit of this tent is definitely ease of setup...5 minutes max on a slow day.

Comfortable

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 4 July 14, 2008

This is my first sleeping pad that I've bought and I absolutely love it! It packs up small for extra space for other gear, and it's absolutely comfortable considering the minimal thickness. For backpacking, amazing on it's own, for carcamping I recommend two if you have the space in your tent for a little extra width.
