nice snowboarding pants

Vans Grunt Insulated Pant - Men's

Vans Grunt Insulated Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 January 7, 2010

Unable to find many earthy tones snowboard pants in females, I got this one in Small. Overall, i love the fit/design. But I find it hard to believe the Small starts at 32" because it just fits on my 30" waist! (I was going to fill it out by wearing a bit of padding, but see now that idea won't work. I've never had to wear a Man's medium anything.) Actually it a fair ass-flatterer, so it's not really a complaint.^^

Everything else is well satisfactorily baggy. Fleece inside at the butt & knees are wicked great! But if you open the vents without wearing a layer, you're likely to get snow on your bare thighs. Faux buttons/all velcro & zips. Front pockets both have inner pockets, too. "Structure" is on the greeny side of earthy khaki. Everything else is well depicted in the pics above.

Despite the downsides [including the top button coming off after the first wear :/ ], the fit is way comfortable so I'll likely keep them for warmer snowboarding days.

cool weather goodness

DC Romme SS Softshell Jacket - Women's

DC Romme SS Softshell Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 January 7, 2010

Went snowboarding with this jacket in 23*F weather. The short faux-fur lining was perfect along with 1 longjohn top & 1 fleece. It adds just enough fuzzy goodness--not smothering as I found B for Burton's--& underarms have vents if/when found necessary.

No powder skirt, per se, but in the pockets you have toggles to tighten up the hip/waist inside the jacket to help against snow invasion. Not perfect, but if you don't slide on your back a lot, you're all right. :)

Loved the magnetic closures of the zip! Between that & the zip, there's also an easily accessible inner pocket [under the left breast] to store your media in a mini pocket & still enough room for sunglasses & wallet, etc. Leftside pocket has a hook for keys/gloves; i used it for the lift card.

I've got a 36.5 chest, but got Large so I could comfortably wear a sweater if necessary. Maybe a tad squarish like that, but ok due to the "slimmer" cut. Removed the hood so I could fold down the collar. Zipped up all the way, it seemed a bit too stiff & in the way for me. (But I did get large..)

Overall, I'm happy with this jacket. The Platinum, if you're looking for colour specifics, I'd call it more "white stone"

Demon Snow Flex Force Pro Low Armor - Women's

Demon Snow Flex Force Pro Low Armor - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 December 22, 2009

i'd injured my tailbone ages ago & it's still tender if I sit just so.. And I know I'll be down a lot snowboarding. This padded armor protects well enough I could even do 100 crunches without a twinge of pain! impressed me enough, anyway, I might use it for other workout/sports.

it's a nice touch with the lacy bits making it look more like underwear than crazy football padding. Still, glad I got a size up in Snowboard pants to better hide the protective bumps. (Cuz some women still care about having "panty lines", right? =o)

Only downside I've come across so far is the slippage of the ribbon back into the hole. A minor thing, but I like the snug-fit feel of the tied ribbon. After fishing it back out, I just made a couple knots...

Even better than expected

Dohm Airspun Beanie

Dohm Airspun Beanie

Rating for this product: 5 December 15, 2009

Beanie is actually made out of 80% ExtraFine Merino Wool & 20% Polyamide, with a 100% Poly liner [sewn-in liner band, for where your ears would touch]. Wasn't expecting a liner at all, so that was a very pleasant surprise! The wool, of course, keeps the head extra warm with the bonus non-itchiness of merino. Fits my medium head comfortably snug. I couldn't be happier. ^^ -- Also, the olive green is well represented! might get blue next..

Columbia Komotion Half-Zip Jacket - Women's

Columbia Komotion Half-Zip Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 March 3, 2008

beautifully soft & comfy and compliments a woman's shape by design. I'm so glad I got it! Not too thick for the active, but keeps nicely warm. My only dislike could only be that the mock neck pokes me under the chin when fully zipped. But hardly the end of the world. The seam-hidden sleeve thumbholes are very handy for when i want to wear it with my boarding gloves, too!

Good shell

Columbia Ruby Peak Shell - Women's

Columbia Ruby Peak Shell - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 March 3, 2008

Flattering to a woman's shape and it has everything you basically need in a light ski jacket (inside pockets & goggle wipe). If colder, you'll need to wear a bit more under this shell, of course. But at the same price as the parka version of this? you might as well get the extra option. :) Plus, more pictures of all the colourful dark-cherry inside.
