How do the Lightning's and MSR shoes in general handle traversing

How do the Lightning's and MSR shoes in general handle traversing of hills? I've heard that MSR shoes don't pivot laterally, just fore and aft. If that's true are the Atlas' any better?

I currently have a +15 down bag that I use for Spring/Fall backpacking in the mountains of NM and CO. I'm considering doing some winter backpacking and was wondering which of the Marmot down bags (Lithium, Col EQ, CWM EQ) would be best. The Lithium at 0 deg wouldn't seem to be a larger enough temperature difference to justify, and the CWM might be over kill. So, I'm leaning towards the Col EQ but, I wanted to get someone's opionion. Also, I tend to be a warm sleeper.
