  • Bio:

Short and Skinny.. Born in 1980 (80's babies baby!)I grew up in N.H. Small catholic school had K-8th had X-Country running, BBall and Ski Team. I started skiing in 4th grade, and rode my first board when i was 12. And,I never stopped! Skateboarding was all we did in the summer so it came very naturally to me...1 run and I had it (although I still caught edges, OUCH!)

I moved to Oklahoma when in High School so started going to Colorado every year...In College I NEVER had class on Fri & Mon so I'd go to Co. more often than not. And, a friend of mine moved there, so I always had a place to crash.

Finally moved to Denver 2 years ago! I didn't really need any new gear (I got some new outerwear at colo ski and golf T-rex sail last year) until around now so I just now really got into this forum. I used to go pretty big in the terrain parks but now I just love all mountain riding. Still hit a park now and then for the kickers and a soap box or two...Old Age takes it's toll! I don't really throw any big twists any more...the occasional FS 360. FS/BS 180 Grabs all day. But that's about it.(I've had some nasty spills and want to keep riding my whole life!) I love seeing the new breed of riders progress! Especially these kids! it's sick! little 8-12 year olds breaking off 540's...man it's great! So that's it, I chill at WP/MJ, Copper Mtn and 6 days at steamboat every year for the past 2...That Pass sound familiar? :) Bueler?.....anyone?......anyone?......

    Peace

May 19, 2009

so how big is this thing really? I want a bag to hold my snowboard gear, hats, gloves, goggles, my 1st layer clothes and possibly some outerwear too..but I don't want a huge bag that is going to be as big as a baseball or football duffel bag....

DAKINE Wet Dry Duffle Bag - 5600cu in

May 19, 2009

did you have the last version? this bag looks sweet! but you're comments concern me a bit....is there too much focus on the strap connection points? is that why the seams started to tear? also for the cooler part i would think that the re-freezable fake ice would alleviate that problem....

Burton Vapor Snowboard

April 25, 2009

Dude, I just bought the vapor, but I will say that I would take lib tech over burton every time w/o hesitation. I think Mervin mfg makes the best boards out there. They are on the cutting edge of technology. Everytime I hear about a new tech, it's from lib tech first. I just retired my lib tech.

This watch awesome. I love mine, it's the all black on black leather and I get compliments on it all the time. If you have big wrists I wouldn't recommend this watch tho.

Burton Vapor Snowboard

April 23, 2009

Hey man, I just went through this process.

Short and skinny, My friend has a custom x and this year hit a rock...(Nothing his never summer can't handle..nothing major at all, i was there) The gouge went to the core, the board is pretty much done for. His is 2 years old too so the warranty was expired, and he bought it from a shop.

They seem pretty fragile, I know this goes against most posts but this is just my experience.

I've been riding a while and have an old lib tech jaimie lynn from 01/02 or 02/03 can't really remember, anyways it's OLD! but so pretty.. :) and a custom from 05/06. So it's time for a new stick, this year the custom was donated to a friend...and the lib will go towards a bench.

I ended up buying both! hahaha a 162 T6 day before yesterday and a 159 Vapor! Brociety just had the vapor on today for 449! and I said Fcuk it! SOLD. Keep your eyes glued to that brociety.com and w/a little patience you'll see all 3 on there for dirt cheap (u prob already knew that)

The T6 will rock the big mtn runs for me and I'm anxious as hell to see what this vapor is about and if I don't like it, I can send it back for a full refund! I got both for the price of a new T6! lol...i'm still smiling. Anyways, I hope that helps...

My friends experience w/the custom x kinda scared me away from it, but it's a bad-ass machine for sure! Just seems a bit.....brittle

PS Thanks Back country....these mo fo's rock!

Entry lvl board

Burton Clash Snowboard

Burton Clash Snowboard

Rating for this product: 3 April 23, 2009

The clash is an entry level board. It's a great value for beginners but the riders usually outgrow it's capabilities within a short period. A friend of mine purchased one after his first week of snowboarding. I took it into the terrain park one day to check out it's flexibility. I ended up snapping the tail behind the back binding when I had to butter a landing on a 360 it worked out for him b/c i gave him my 3 year old custom....The board has the tendency to fold like a wet noodle when extreme pressure is applied. Any advanced rider would prob tear this stick to shreds, but....it's a great intro board and a great value. Personally, I would just buck up and buy a higher end board if you're looking to ride for the long term.

Burton Clash Snowboard

April 22, 2009

I think there's a lot of other circumstances you should consider that could help to you deciding....first how close do you live to the mountains? Will your parents be able to drop you off on the weekends? Do you only get to go once a year? If you only get to take the yearly family vacation, I would wait...you still have a lot to grow, and by the time your 15-16, you will have outgrown this board. With bindings and boots, you will end up spending more than you would if you rented a good couple of demo boards. When you're a little older and not growing so much would be the time to buy a board. Especially after you've gotten a feel for the type of riding you want to do.

But, if you're able to go often, and really just want your own board, Then I would prob go a different route. B/C you will soon outgrow the capabilities of this stick. Hope that helps :-)

Burton Clash Snowboard

April 22, 2009

I would go w/the gnu in a heartbeat.... cyrus has hit the nail on the head, I snapped my friends 162 clash in the terrain park, (it was his first year and he just wanted instant gratification) but he got a good deal, he paid 150 so not a total loss. In fact, I gave him my custom to make up for it. As you get better you will end up leaving this board behind and regret dropping the 2 bills on it...trust me....

P.S. Mervin Mfg makes awesome boards!!!!

Let's Clarify

Burton Clash Snowboard

Burton Clash Snowboard

Rating for this product: 3 April 21, 2009

Everyone else is talking about how great this board is. I want to clarify that this is an ENTRY LEVEL BOARD. I do not recommend it b/c after a few seasons, you will quickly outgrow the capabilities of this stick. I've been riding for 16 years now, and I took my friends clash into the park to check out it's jib potential, it folds like a wet noodle and I ended up snapping the tail behind the binding landing a 360...it worked out for him b/c I gave him my old custom and he's progressing by leaps and bounds on that thing. I don't recommend this board simply b/c you will outgrow it. But if you're looking for value, then it's not bad.
