Arc'teryx Stinger Jacket - Men's

January 7, 2011

-4 degrees plus wind chill. knee deep powder. no sun.

the Arc-tyrex Stinger was absolutely bomb proof. All i had on was under armour, a t shirt, a Mountain Hardwear monkey man fleece, and this jacket, and i was toasty warm. i felt great. i even had to open up the pit zips occasionally, which helped regulate my body temp perfectly.

this jacket was amazing. i cannot stop wearing it. its good for everything from wind to rain to snow, on the mountain or around campus.

I'm 5'10, 180. athletic build. i got the large and its perfect with layering. its roomy but not to big, just how i wanted it

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Fleece Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 1, 2010

I just got this in the mail today. I've been wearing it around the house because it is so freaking comfortable. its the softest thing i own, its like wrapping myself in a puppy.
I started to clean my room while wearing it, doing a little bit of physical activity, and i had to take it off. i was starting to over heat. it traps heat SO well, its amazing. perfect for layering. it also acts as a weightless cushion between me and my hard, crinkly, goretex jacket.
its pretty amazing.

Smith Variant Brim Helmet

November 23, 2009

I've heard from many people that the brim gets in the way of putting your goggles up. How true is this? can this problem be avoided? i like the brim look but its a pain if i can't put my goggles up.

also, how would these fit with dragon maces?

Backcountry.com Shift Welder Hoody - Men's

Backcountry.com Shift Welder Hoody - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 23, 2009

This is one of the best softshells i have ever used. Under the sink test, it sheds water with no problem, I don't feel a think on a windy day, and the cut is pretty sick. I'm 5'9 170 and i got a large, and it fits perfect with a sweatshirt underneath. It extremely comfortable, the inside is so soft and the outside moves really well. it also has kept be very dry as it breaths so well.

The reason it only gets 4 stars is because of the looks (It is very important, admit it). As you might have read, the Tahoe color i received what not what i expected. The one in the picture would have been SOOO awesome, but instead i got a teal (much like this http://www.candlechem.com/images/D152teal.gif) instead of the awesome blue shown in the picture. I think the teal will be bearable, there are no Carbon's in large left anyway. The other thing is the welded seams. They do not let in any water. But as for looks, the seams do pop out and I'm pretty sure there are more seams on this jacket than any other jacket I've looked at.

Line Limited Edition Spirals Anthem Ski

March 7, 2009

Thats a nice size but the 171s would work to you can always grow into them. Some people ride skis longer, you could easily ride high 160's, low 170's. im 5'8 and im on 172's and people my size sometimes go even bigger

Marmot Meta Softshell Jacket - Men's

January 20, 2009

A lot of times Marmot will make items specifically for different retailers, sometimes one of the items from their line altered slightly to the retailer's specifications. As a result, the retailer is the only one with both the jacket and any information on the jacket...As for the weigh, it is extremely light. The material is super light and the whole jacket seems to be lighter then most of my sweatshirts.

Great

Marmot Meta Softshell Jacket - Men's

Marmot Meta Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 20, 2009

I received the jacket today and was very impressed. The twilight color is very nice, and the jacket feels lighter than most of my sweatshirts. Its super warm and comfy as well. I put it through my homemade tests, all the water beaded right off when i put it under a sink and sat infront of a fan and didnt feel a thing.

The reason is only got a 4/5 is because of the pit-zips and the length. The pit-zips do rub a little bit but even a short sleeve shirt with slightly longer sleeves will easily stop the rubbing. The length is a big short. I'm 5'9 175, and the jacket is only at my waist, higher than most of my others.

but all around, this is a great softshell and i can't wait to ski in it

To mw304001693322 or anyone else who has this jacket. Can you explain more about the pit zips and what was wrong (pictures possibly)? also, what else did you like or dislike?to jbm_132341269, the review says that it does have pit zips and that he was having trouble with them.but as for the windstopper marmot you have (i think they are a little different), what do you think about it?

Fischer Addict Alpine Ski

Fischer Addict Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 December 31, 2008

Coming off of 12 years of being more of a racer and never touching the park, this was a great ski to pick up. It's a great ski for groomers, and for a beginner in the park, i had a ton of fun on them. they're really durable and are stiffer then most, but it keeps you really stable at high speeds. not the best in powder since i mounted mine only 1cm back from center, but i could make due. I've had a ton of fun on these skis so far. Only complaint is that the top sheet is already chipping and what not and that was before they even touched the park

4FRNT Skis MSP Alpine Ski

December 22, 2008

The msp in my opinion is the BEST ski for hard snow conditions you can buy for in a twintip. you could get by with 171's--but i would go 181 for 2reasons they are fatter so they will give you better powder performance also as you get better you will want a longer ski. they are pretty stiff but you sould still be able to handle the 181'sAdd: i really think you dont need skis this fat for skiing in the north east. a good pow day is so rare that you'll get better performance on hardpack/ice with something a little smaller that can handle pow, these would be better out west i think. they would work well when the conditions are right, but the conditions are hardly even right

DAKINE Chute Backpack - 2200cu in

November 20, 2008

Hey, I was looking for a good bag that would work for school and skiing. I mostly ski in the north east, so im not doing a ton of BC skiing, i probably will never carry a shovel or any of that with me. But i would like something that can carry my skis on occasion and my books for school. I have a backpack for school that's about 2000cu in. and when i wear it, it feels like it would just be to big to ski with, and the chute is bigger. so i was looking at the Dakine Pro 2 pack for skiing but i like the size of the chute for school. Does anyone have any experience with either backpack? any info would be great. Basically i need to know if this bag would be to big to ski with if im not a huge BC skierMichael, i look at all the dakine bags and am set one these two. The heli pro is much to small for all my school stuff

Amazing

DAKINE Scout Glove - Men's

DAKINE Scout Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 7, 2008

3 gloves in one, its the best. on the cool days, the liner inside will keep me more than warm enough. On a colder day, the glove without the liner will keep you very warm and dry, and when its getting in the single digits and below, the glove and liner keep your hands warm and sweat free. I have not had a problem with cold hands since the day i got them. they also keep the water out very well and dry quickly if any snow gets in.

my only complaint is that they are a tiny bit big. the liner fits perfect, but with the glove, the fingers are a little long. but i can easily live with it

Best I've Tried

Oakley Fully Zipped Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Oakley Fully Zipped Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 7, 2008

Ok, well i picked this up and SAC and it was like no other. I'v tried on some Burton hoodys that are water repelant, but they fit all weird and look stupid with huge Burton logos.
I also for the Oakley Climate Change but returned it. It was really water repelant, but the inside material was kinda weird, and it was a really stiff hoody. plus it was really expensive
when i ordered this, i expected it to be the same as the other oakley hoody, but i was completely wrong. its just as water repelant, but it moves as free as any normal cotton hoody, and the inside is 10x as comfy. everyoen should get this hoody if you plan to ski in some warmer weather. its comfy, badass, and super water resistant

Best Goggles I Have Ever Worn

Dragon Mace Goggle

Dragon Mace Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 March 17, 2008

well my other review was a little small. i had the exact same experience as RexA. i ordered these and they were just amazing. then i saw the Oakley wisdoms on SAC and got them for my brother. we both tried them on and they were much to small for our faces.

the Maces fit perfect, big and soooo comfy, you can see everything out of them, they don't get scratched easily and never fog. after a while, i feel like I'm not wearing goggles because you can't see the frames with the big lens and they just hug your face perfectly. you must pick these up if you want quality.
