Awesome Jacket

Mammut Laser Softshell Jacket - Men's

Mammut Laser Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 2 days ago

This is my third Mammut jacket and every jacket so far has been outstanding. The Laser so far is my favorite softshell and I have had several other brands. The Schoeller fabric feels great. It is very soft and comfortable and moves with you. I have worn it ski touring and skiing and loved it. I skied in 10 degrees Fahrenheit and 30 mph wind and was toasty warm. I was wearing a Mammut Jasper Zip and a Mammut fleece under it. The fabric is not 100% windproof. It is VERY wind resistant though. You can see a good graph on Schoeller's website at: http://www.schoeller-textiles.com/en/fabrics/soft-shell.html.

My two gripes with the jacket are that there are no inside pockets. (for the price I would expect some) and the hood is way too big unless you use it with a helmet.

Overall I would highly recommend this jacket. It is worth every penny.

Did not Fit Me

Black Diamond Method Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

Black Diamond Method Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 December 15, 2008

I received the boots and had them thermo molded for my feet. Skied them 2 days at the resorts and ended up with ice cold tingly toes. The boot was putting a lot of pressure on the top of my feet, cutting of circulation. There was no way to correct that. Backcountry.com swapped the boot out for the Garmont Radium. They fit like house shoes compared to the BD boots. I have not skied them yet and will write a review on the Garmont as soon as I do.

Great Binding!

Marker Duke Ski Binding

Marker Duke Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 5 November 29, 2008

Climbed a couple of 14ers with this binding. The Duke handled great. I found switching between regular and ski touring mode to be very easy. It was smooth in touring mode when walking and worked outstanding on the descents. They are mounted on Nordica Enforcers.

Very Warm

Marmot Randonnee Glove

Marmot Randonnee Glove

Rating for this product: 5 November 29, 2008

My hands were always the only part of my body that would get cold. I wore these gloves all of last season and they kept me warm at -15 degrees in strong wind. I would highly recommend this glove.

Awesome Ski

Nordica Enforcer Alpine Ski

Nordica Enforcer Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 January 28, 2008

I have had this ski with the Marker Duke binding for 2 weeks and skied it in Powder, groomers, and hard pack. It handles everything outstanding. It floats on the powder and carves like no other ski I have ever had on groomers. You can almost lay down in the turns. Unbelievable!! The only downside is that at high speed they do chatter slightly on hard pack snow when you're not doing a perfect carving turn. I would highly recommend this ski.
