22 Designs Axl Telemark Binding

January 31, 2011

Also got similar heel rub issue when I started to ski with my AXLs in 3rd position with my old T1s. But after moving into 2nd position I don't have any problems. I guess it all depends on how well the boot keep your feet fixed while skiing/bending your knees. Can't help you with further binding adjustments though.

K2 SideStash Alpine Ski

October 14, 2010

Am thinking to upgrade telemark rig. Today on old Karhu Jak BC (127-97-117). Am focusing on offpist. Love skiing in big, fast surfy turns in powder, crud and slush. Good enough skier for any terrain, 165 pounds and 5'10, skiing on T1s. My question is: are the Sidestash too stiff for my way of skiing and should I look for a softer ski like Line Prophet 115 or similar?

Every day in summer

Norrøna Bitihorn Lightweight Short - Men's

Norrøna Bitihorn Lightweight Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 25, 2010

Used these shorts pretty much every day this summer. Very comfortable, I like the hip adjustment with Velcro. And I do like the pockets placement similar to Norrona's skiing pants.

Spent one week hiking in the Dolomites with these. Perfect pockets, map in left cargo pocket and Iphone/Android phone in the internal pocket in right cargo pocket.

Super everything!

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 29, 2009

As so many other have testified, this jacket is super light, super packable and super warm (in relation to the weight and volume).Starts feeling warm in seconds after putting it on top of base layers. Haven't yet found the need to put on any shell on top of down sweater. Also wind and water proof way above my expectations.

Wrong shape?

Mountain Hardwear Synchro Softshell Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Synchro Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 August 24, 2009

Bought this jacket several years ago. Liked the looks and weight and planned to use it for skiing. But for some reason I always choose other jackets when I am packing for skiing trips (have too many ski jackets...). I think it comes down to the shape, for me it is a bit short and bulky.

I use my Synchro pants for most days skiing so there is nothing wrong with functionality of Synchro, I just don't like the shape of this jacket. It does not inspire me to a great day of skiing.

Great skiing pants

Mountain Hardwear Synchro Pant - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Synchro Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 24, 2009

I have used the Synchro pants for two years now, telemarking in a range of conditions and environments. From skinning and powder skiing in the Alps to slushy spring skiing by Norwegian fjords. The Synchros are really great pants and almost perfect for any condition and most days. They keep water and wind out better than I expected from a softshell. They are quite warm so most winter days skiing, I use only a thin base layer. I really like the possibility to ventilate while hiking and the Synchros' 3/4 zips allow that easily.

The fit is good when I have a belt to keep them up, slim but wide enough to allow knee pads without any problem.

I really love them and they are my first choice most days doing winter activities. But, there are some things that could be improved. Firstly as I use the Synchros mainly for skiing I really would like to have internal gaiters instead of a silly draw chord when hiking in deep snow; secondly the outer material chafe a bit from wear of backpacks and my jackets' internal draw chords; thirdly the embroidered Mountain Hardwear logo on the leg is not taped on the inside and makes them not water proof on that patch, which can be quite annoying on days sitting in the lift when it is drizzling rain.
