  • Stomping Grounds:

Starting around the Chesapeake, up to the North Shore, out to Ohio and down to Clearwater...
  • Bio:

This picture is of my favorite place on Earth, though it will all come to an end if the private island is opened up to so-called "eco-tourism."

I love to saltwater fish and kayak, though don't get out nearly as often as I want to...

I live and work in Maryland, but visit friends and family all up and down the East coast. My job keeps me outdoors all summer long, helping manage a sports stadium facility.

DAKINE Jet Setter Luggage Collection - 3 Piece - Women's - 2500cu in

DAKINE Jet Setter Luggage Collection - 3 Piece - Women's - 2500cu in

Rating for this product: 4 January 14, 2011

I just received this set to use on a four-day trip to Puerto Rico in February. I need it to fit clothes for a wedding, as well as hiking clothes for a little sightseeing. This suitcase looks like it will do the job...

The roller *should* fit as a carry-on bag, plus it is hard on the backside but soft and expandable on the front, which I really like. The pop-up handle is light and easy to push up and down, while my old roller was a lot clunkier. The inside is lined with a really dark pink fabric.

The duffle bag / large purse is also really nice. I should be able to fit my regular purse, plus more clothes and even the toiletry bag inside, and still fit it under the airplane seat. The toiletry bag itself is awesome, very similar to the kind of organizers that LL Bean makes. It can't fit full size bottles, just trial size liquids, and it even provides you a clear quart-sized zipped bag for airport security.

I will say that the picture on Backcountry and on the Dakine website is a little misleading in terms of color. It is a dark navy, with really dark pink (almost a cranberry or mauve color.) I actually like it a lot better than the picture, which makes it look like a bright pink.

So light I forget I'm wearing it...

Deuce Brand Classic Light Watch

Deuce Brand Classic Light Watch

Rating for this product: 4 January 14, 2011

I usually hate wearing watches. But this watch is so light I forget that it's on my wrist. It has the feel of one of those "causes" rubber wristbands, like Livestrong. I wear it daily. I can't wait to see how it will hold up in the summer, when I basically live on the beach.

The only problem I have is the tiny button on the back which you use to set the time and date can be really tempermental, and can take a few tries before you get the right setting.

Otherwise, highly recommend this watch.

Eagle Creek Truist 55L Pack - Women's

December 9, 2010

I have the same question as Kristen. I've heard that only 50L or smaller bags are sized for airline carryons. This one is listed at 55L... Does anyone know if this bag meets carryon restrictions?

Weird Seams

The North Face At Ease Short - Women's

The North Face At Ease Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 April 1, 2009

I am going to return these shorts. They have a very weird seam that cuts across my butt and makes the shorts tighter in the back than I wanted them to be. There are also no pockets in the back, and I need lots of pockets!

They did run true to size in the waist, and I loved the length, but the fabric was not as heavy as a I wanted it to be. I was planning on wearing them to work outside in the summer, but they feel as if they are going to rip really easily.

Don't get these shorts if you've got a bigger butt, like I do... If you're skinnier, they're probably great.

Super Soft

The North Face Half Dome Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Mens'

The North Face Half Dome Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Mens'

Rating for this product: 5 April 1, 2009

I have worn this sweatshirt out in the backyard barbequeing every night since I bought it. Got it extra baggy to replace an old favorite sweatshirt that finally fell apart at the seams, and I love it. The lining is the softest of any sweatshirt I've ever owned. It is a lighter gray than the picture, but still decently dark in color. Also, it has a plastic zipper, which I actually like because there is no cold and rough metal to catch on my shirts underneath.

Fits well

The North Face Kirsten Racerback Tank - Women's

The North Face Kirsten Racerback Tank - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 April 1, 2009

This was my first North Face purchase in Women's clothing (I've always bought mens sweatshirts for the comfort, baggy factor.) I was really nervous that this shirt wasn't going to fit me (I'm 5'10" and am pretty big in the shoulders.) But I love it! The elastic armholes help keep this tanktop tight and covering without being too slender. I also love the length. I took the belt off, but you won't miss it and it still looks really sleek.
