K2 T Nine Burnin Luv Ski w/ Marker ERS 11.0 TC Binding - Women's

That's really hard to decide on without some more info. Two things you need to factor in are what is your skiing ability and also what part of the country are you skiing in mostly? If you're out west and in softer snow more often than hard snow then you'd probably want to size up while in the east you're going to want to have a short ski generally.

From your height/weight, you're probably going to want to be in the 156cm if you're more of a casual/intermediate skiier while the 163cm would be good if you're more of an advanced/expert skiier.

Lib Technologies NAS Park Alpine Ski

If you want an honest answer, not that good at all. They're way too narrow to be good in any significant amount of new snow. 84 underfoot and only 113 at the nose. You're going to sink a lot in anything over 6" of new snow. There isn't really a park ski that is good in powder, they're completely different skis. If you're doing both extensively then I suggest picking up two pairs of skis. If not then you'll be fine with an occasional off-piste run.

Arc'teryx Sidewinder SV Jacket - Men's

Chris, you're only going to need a Large. This jacket doesn't fit snug, this year it is running bigger to accommodate for layers which in most cases people are actually sizing down. With a 44" chest you should be fine with the Large and still have ample room for layering.

Car Camping

Kelty Teton 4 Tent 4-Person 3-Season

Kelty Teton 4 Tent 4-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 April 27, 2009

I bought this as more of a car camping type tent. It's heavy and big, although it is light compared to some other 4 person tents. I have used it twice now for spring camping here in Utah. Taken myself, 2 friends and 2 dogs. Held all of us plus our packs with no problems. Didn't have any water problems at all. For a cheaper tent, it's high quality, I was surprised. Very easy put up and take down. Easy to do it at night even with very little light. Large door and tall interior height is what I loved about the tent since I'm 6'3. Made it easy to move around and get in/out (one thing I hate about my single person backpacking tent). All in all would highly recommend to anyone. The Rain Fly is small but there has to be one down side, right?

Impressed, definitely

Black Diamond O1 Telemark Ski Binding DO NO TUSE

Black Diamond O1 Telemark Ski Binding DO NO TUSE

Rating for this product: 5 April 27, 2009

It has taken me a while to finally decide to review these and the time has come. As you can see from my stars, it's a top notch binding. My favorite part of the binding? To be cliche, the touring mode. When i was testing it on flat ground it seemed fun and like it would help but you don't see the full potential until you're on the skin track. No more mid-climb stops to rest your burning calves, you'll be at the front of the pack now with these bindings. Very well made and developed to walk in, in combination with a walk mode on a boot. Very high quality bindings, haven't had any problems at all. The occasional cartridge loosening but these aren't my only tele bindings that have done this. It's very easy to fix as well. I went with Rid Stiff to drive my BD Custom boots and BD Verdict skis. Not to mention I'm 6'3 and 250 so not the smallest of fellows. Definitely would recommend this binding.

Platypus Big Zip SL Hydration Bladder

Rating for this product: 5 April 27, 2009

Great high quality hydration bladder. I've never had any problems with anything from Platypus. You don't get that plastic taste like you do with Camelbak. Very easy and efficient to use, the tilted spout makes it easy to drink out of when it is in a pack. Also the detachable hose makes it so you don't have to wind it through all the holes etc. just to take it out. The best feature though is the zip top, makes it extremely efficient to fill up. No more screwing on tops or messing with other closures, just put the top on and zip, it's closed. Never had any leaks.

Chaco Zong Sandal - Men's

Chaco Zong Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 27, 2009

I've worn Chaco's for years from the sandals to the zongs. Loved every pair of them. High quality and trusted durability. Chaco makes some of the best shoes in the business, I've literally only had one pair wear out and that was after 300+ uses over 2 years. The usual problem at the first with straps cinching down, you just need to wear them in. It's normal for Chacos to do. Love these zongs, recommend highly.

Osprey Packs Talon 33 Backpack - 1900-2000cu in

Rating for this product: 5 March 31, 2009

I love this pack completely. Bought the Acid Green since I'm a fan of Green and was pleasantly surprised by the color. It's mainly my Mountain Biking pack but use it for everything else, day hiking, around town, whatever. Lightweight and extremely durable as well as highly water resistant. There isn't much more I could ask for in a day pack. I like the way it sits on the back, narrow and long, I'm not a huge fan of wide and short packs (ie: most North Face packs). This is very minimalist and won't snag easy if you're in a bushed out area or trees. Do it to it. Not only are you getting a great pack you're getting Osprey's lifetime warranty and quality.

Backcountry.com Backcountry Logo T-Shirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 28, 2009

The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because of the sizing. These shirts run a little snug. If you're looking for a loose fitting shirt then I would suggest sizing up one size. That being said though this is a great shirt, I have one in all 3 colors. Has a lot of style and very minimalist with the small goat on the chest. Has shorter sleeves than some other t-shirts but not too bad. All in all it's a great shirt.

Backcountry.com Stoic Inbounds Glove - Men's

Backcountry.com Stoic Inbounds Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 28, 2009

I can't remember if I've done a review or not, so i'll do a new one. Now this is coming from a glove junkie, I think I have more pairs of gloves than I do pairs of skis (don't ask me why). That being said though this is by far one of the best gloves I've ever owned. I just recently purchased Hestra Cloud Nine's and had to pick these up just to "give em a try". I would easily rank these up there with the Cloud Nine in my book. Warm and dry (if you take care of them). I wore these yesterday on a foot-fot and a half powder day in Utah and didn't have any problems with snow penetration or wetness at all. They are extremely comfortable and minimalist. What I mean by that is that they give great manual dexterity which is vital for me in a ski glove. I can adjust my helmet, boots or jacket with no problems. In regards to sizing, I wear an XL in pretty much every glove and the same runs true for this (I have monster hands). The cuff is a little bit snug but it stretches out a bit after some use. All in all it's a great glove, easily 5 out of 5 in my book.

K2 Missbehaved Ski - Women's

January 27, 2009

These are both extremely different skis than the Phat Luv. The Phat Luv is more of a All-mountain Carve ski while the Missbehaved and Aura are all-mountain/powder oriented skis. They are going to be better off-piste (off the groomed) since they are wider and will float on soft snow and charge through crud better. The Volkl Aura is probably closest to the K2 Phat Luv in terms of ski size. Both would be great options and ski very similar, the Missbehaved is just a little bit wider.

Armada JJ Alpine Ski

January 27, 2009

What's your weight and skiing ability? That's the biggest factor in ski length. It's hard to gauge since you're riding on 169's right now which must mean you're 150ish pounds or less based on sizing. If you're closer to 200 lbs. and feel like you're an advanced skiier then you could easily go with the 185cm. This ski with the slight rocker skis a little bit shorter than the actual length.

Black Diamond Joule Ski - Women's

January 27, 2009

Height and weight play a factor in getting a general size. Then you have to factor in skiing ability. If you're an aggressive/experienced skiier I would definitely recommend the 165. With a 155 you're going to overpower the ski and going to be forcing turns instead of allowing the natural ski turn progression. Especially with your skiing level you'll be able to get quick turns on a big ski. Bigger skis will also help you more in off-piste situations which it sounds like you're skiing. Also in a fatter ski I like going a little bit longer, it gives a little bit more stability on the ski.Just a thought from a BC.com gearhead.

Rating for this product: 5 January 26, 2009

I'm gonna go with the latter. This is easily the best helmet I've ever owned. The fit on it is great and adjustable given the size range for each size. The ventilation on this helmet is great as well. I've never gotten cold or overheated with the helmet. The adjustable vents are very easy to use with gloves on. The chin strap is extremely comfortable and adjustable and has the padding that won't allow it to cut into you. All in all I would say this is easily the best helmet on the market. I WILL buy another when/if my current one dies.

Manual dexterity and warmth

Hestra Cloud Nine Glove

Hestra Cloud Nine Glove

Rating for this product: 5 January 26, 2009

The Hestra Cloud Nine sits in the top 2 gloves of my arsenal and believe me I have a lot. I've had so many problems with gloves and it's hard for me to find a good glove. What I look for is manual dexterity, dryness factor and warmth. I've had other gloves that combine two of the three but not all three. This glove achieves the holy trinity! I absolutely love it. I've never worn a glove that is so minimalist and yet warm. Great dexterity, dry and warm. I've worn down to about -10 with this glove and no problems. The sizing is true to the chart although the wrist is a little tight, it's worth it. I would definitely recommend this to any skiier, if the price tag is a little much for you, check out the NEW Backcountry.com brand Inbounds Glove.

I'm writing this from my College class after using the backpack for the first time. Upon my first impression, I'm very impressed. Currently I have a laptop, large textbook and 3 other notebooks in it. It all fits in the pack great. I really like the sunglasses pocket, it's a great fleece lined pocket that is semi-padded. The suspension system on this pack is a little sub-par but I wasn't expecting much from it, it's just a school backpack. All in all, I'd give this 4.5 stars but there is not an option for that.

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 December 29, 2008

I've been skiing/snowboarding for a good 12+ years of my life and I can honestly say these are the best goggles I've ever owned.

Great quality and construction. They're made to last and are comfortable to boot. They fit great with a helmet and are made for a larger face. If you're looking for a smaller face model go for the A Frame, these are pretty big. The Pink Iridium lens is probably the best all around for this goggle, then I would say the Persimmon. Fit great, and are easy to adjust.

Definitely buy these for your next goggle purchase.

Hestra Army Leather Gore-Tex XCR Glove

Rating for this product: 5 December 9, 2008

Such a great glove. They're bombproof construction. Extremely warm and give the manual dexterity you need for skiing. These gloves have kept me warm into temps below 0 easily and without a liner underneath. Hestra is known for their quality so that's not something you need to worry about. They breathe extremely well too for those semi-warm days where you're torn between gloves. For a spring day these are just too much, that's when I move to my Dakine Dukes.

They're an awesome cold weather glove when you still need some manually dexterity and bombproof construction.

The only thing I would note is that the sizing on the website is off. If the sizing says a Large go with a Medium. They run about a size larger than what you would expect, so just a heads up.

Hestra Army Leather Gore-Tex XCR Glove

December 7, 2008

With these gloves you may get a little warm then, they're extremely well insulated and at some points get extremely warm. I have multiple pairs of gloves, I use these on those extremely cold days.

Seem Great!

The North Face Freedom Pant - Men's

The North Face Freedom Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 1, 2008

I bought these for my brother in law and he says that he loves them. He's about 6'0 and has a 36 inch waist so I got him the Large and they fit a little baggy which he loves.

It's a great shell pant, the insulated version is great as well I bet. So don't buy these and think "hey, they're just a shell". This is the non-insulated version.

It seems really high quality (All TNF products are) and any pant that is simple will be awesome. I'm not a huge fan of all the bells and whistles on some other pants.

If you're looking for a great shell pant, then this is the one for you.

Marker Jester Ski Binding

Marker Jester Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 5 December 1, 2008

What is there to be said about this binding that hasn't already? It's probably the best binding on the market today, not just for freestyle but for big-mountain goodness as well.

I have these mounted on both a Line Chronic for park and K2 Seth Alpine for my big-mountain ski. It's great on both. You really don't even notice they are there. So light it's amazing.

In the park it has such a small swing weight, it's awesome. Some other bindings I've used haven't held up with season after season of presses, butters and landings but the Jester is epic in it's quality. The release on it is great as well.

As far as for a freeride binding, it's amazing. Light and solid. Exactly what you want when you're throwin' turns on a 45 slope in 2 feet of pow. It's beautiful really.

Love at first jib

Line Chronic Alpine Ski

Line Chronic Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 December 1, 2008

This is one of the best park skis around for the price. Staying in the 400-500$ range is awesome especially when you're getting a ski that could easily run $600+. That's the great thing about Line, great products, lower prices.

I have these mounted with the Marker Jester and it's a sick combo. Great in the park for sure, buttery, soft and stomp a landing great.

They work on the groomers, with great edge to edge control but start to chatter a lot at high speeds (what do you expect). It's not as bad as some skis, but just a fair warning.

I took these a little bit off-piste earlier in the season just to get a feel for them and they worked okay in a crud-like snow that was all tracked out. In powder, I wouldn't even think about taking these, way too narrow.

Fun and poppy. What more could you ask for out of a freestyle ski? I love just riding a little off-piste line with these and hitting natural features, these respond great.

Awesome quality, awesome price, awesome ski. Do it to it!

Marker Jester Ski Binding

November 21, 2008

The biggest difference between the two is the DIN rating which directly coorelates to rider weight in most situations. The Jester is better for a heavier ride (240+) while the Griffon can handle a rider below that just as well.

Great for what's it's made for

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Fleece Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 21, 2008

I really dig this jacket, it's warm and a great fall/spring jacket. It's not going to keep out the wind, it's not meant for that.

I got the XXL and it fits great, i'm about 6'2 and 250 with a lineman build. It's a little snug in the tummy area, but not that bad elsewhere. I would buy another when this one wears out. A great buy, I'm glad I invested in it.

It looks great too!

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Fleece Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 21, 2008

Thought I added a review, but I guess it didn't go through.

I really love this jacket, it may not keep out the wind, but it was never meant to. This thing is perfect for a late fall or early spring day. It fits a little bit smaller than I expected, it was a little snug in the tummy area but I'm also 6'2 and 250 with a lineman build. I ordered the XXL but it still fits good, not too tight.

I would recommend for your next fleece purchase, I wasn't disappointed.

Great headphones

Skullcandy Hesh Headphones

Skullcandy Hesh Headphones

Rating for this product: 5 November 18, 2008

I bought these a month and a half ago and love them. I use them everyday while at work to cut down on the noise around me. They have a great sound quality if you don't blast it too loud and keep out the outside noise extremely well. They're really comfortable once you figure out what length you need the band at.

I would recommend these to anyone looking for a good quality headphone that isn't too expensive.

Bought this hat a little over a month ago and have been stoked on it ever since. Has an awesome look to it and the flat brim gives you that steezy style. Looks good and you can't beat the flex-fit.

Coal Frena Solid Beanie

Coal Frena Solid Beanie

Rating for this product: 5 November 18, 2008

I bought both the blue and the black version of this hat. I love the style of the Frena. It has that little extra room at the top which gives it that steezy baggy look but doesn't go overboard like those lame bag hats that those indie-scensters wear.

A great price for a great beanie. It's warm and stays on extremely well especially with my huge noggin.

I recommend to all you steez addicts out there.
