Mountain Hardwear Hooded Compressor PL Insulated Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Hooded Compressor PL Insulated Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 1 December 2, 2010

The proportions of this jacket coupled with the exterior fabric make this jacket a saggy sack. First, I'm a huge Mountain Hardwear fan and own several MH jackets from down to fleece to shells. I bought this jacket after buying it two years in a row for my son in the youth version and really digging on the quality and the fit. But this women's version is boxy, the sleeves are loose and long from the shoulder down and the fabric is so fluid that the hood simply does not work. First, because the sleeves are so long and wide but then end in a gathered semi-elastic, you get the puff and bunch up factor. The coat is boxy, so even at the right size where the shoulders fall in the right place, the rest of the coat just hangs. What I like about the youth version is it is fitted at the bottom, almost like a wide band of the same fabric cut a bit slimmer, but despite the MH specs and photo showing this for the women's version, it doesn't work. I noticed MH indicates it "updated" this jacket for 2010, so not sure if the former version was any better. But mine is an immediate return.

The BLACK color is not the Newport , it's the NEWPORT II with velcro

KEEN Newport Sandal - Youth

KEEN Newport Sandal - Youth

Rating for this product: 1 May 4, 2010

Only the Army Green color is available in Newport. Even the KEEN website only has Army Green in this style. I ordered the Black through BackCountry and was shipped the Newport II - the version with the Velcro Piece at the ankle (which the Newport does not have).

This iS NOT the NEWPORT - It's the NEWPORT II with Velcro - Wrong description and photo

KEEN Newport Sandal - Youth

KEEN Newport Sandal - Youth

Rating for this product: 1 April 9, 2010

Backcountry has this wrong. The photo and description clearly indicates NEWPORT. But like the customer who commented here before me, the sandal is actully the NEWPORT II, which is KEEN's NEWPORT with both bungee pull AND VELCRO. I did not want the sandal with VELCRO as my 11 year old is too old for VELCRO and it's not comfortable. Because of the previous customer's comment about receiving the wrong shoe,I checked via the CHAT option with a Backcounty CSR about this product and was told that someone in their warehouse checked the shoe and it is the NEWPORT. I asked if it had the VELCRO and was told, nope, the sandal was the NEWPORT, NOT th NEWPORT II.

Well my son's sandals arrived today, and it is the wrong shoe - the NEWPORT II.

Backcountry PLEASE update your website and I expect to be credited for the shipping to me and the return since you have falsely advertised this product.

Sweet, chic, technical

Mountain Hardwear Flip Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Flip Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 7, 2009

I love this jacket! It's comfortable, technical features, stylish and warm. I'm 5'4", 115, size 4, usually a small but went with the medium after trying both sizes because it's a fitted jacket through the chest and has plenty of cinching to "custom fit".

Functional, toasty, issue with sleeves

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Parka - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Parka - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 January 7, 2009

Mountain Hardwear gear rocks but pattern makers sure could finetune their sizing. The sleeves on this jacket (length) do not correspond with the sizing. I tried both the Medium and Small for sizing and the small fit me perfectly but the sleeves were a tad too short when I move my arms. The sleeves on the medium were more in line with a small size. MH could easily have worked out this issue by adding an inner cuff to the sleeves, especially a fleece one. There is a cinch (velcro) on the end of the sleeve but you have to really cinch this tight to account for the large sleeve opening. It's the one part of this jacket that I don't like. I kept the jacket because it meets all other specs ... but if I had worn it around and realized the sleeves are an issue I wouldn't have purchased it. I have a lot of MH gear and I will say sizing isn't standard to industry nor is it consistant to MH so buyer beware: Get the measurements for all length seams!

Sweet Jacket, my take on sizing

Mountain Hardwear Flip Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Flip Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 December 9, 2008

Love the jacket, very stylish but with all the techie Mountain Hardwear features. Cinch at neck and bottom are great. I'm 5'3", 120 and went with the medium. The small fit but no room for layering and the arms at holes were a bit tight. One thing this coat has is unproportioned sleeve length. After trying both sizes, I'm determined it's the design of the coat or an issue with pattern making. Keep in mind coat is fitted through the chest. I would definitely size up from other Mountain Hardwear coats. I wear a small in the subzero parka and that is plenty roomy.
