KEEN Sun Valley Slipper - Men's

KEEN Sun Valley Slipper - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 May 25, 2011

I work from home, so I sit in my slippers most of the time. Pros: these slippers are really comfortable and in the winter they keep your feet nice and toasty. Cons: if you get the leather sole wet, they kind of "stick" to the floor and they won't last long if you wear them outside for trips to the mailbox. Also, I haven't really fallen in love with the low rise heel, as I have a feeling like they're constantly falling off (in fact, though, they are on securely).

Net-net, next time I'll go back to a slipper that has a rubber sole and a standard heel.

They do seem to fit true to size.

Problems with seams

Sierra Designs Hurricane Accelerator Jacket - Men's

Sierra Designs Hurricane Accelerator Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 May 25, 2011

I ordered a couple of different sizes and colors at the same time. Unfortunately, all of the jackets had problems with the seams where the stitching did not line up. One had the problem on the shoulder, another on the hood, and I can't recall where else. All in all, they were sharp looking jackets, but for something that was supposed to be rain gear, I was skeptical that it would keep me dry. Rather then take a chance, I just returned all the jackets.

Run Small, But Work Well

Stoic Merino Boxer Brief - Men's

Stoic Merino Boxer Brief - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 25, 2011

As others have said, they run small and the waist band tends to ride high. I'm 6'1" and 150 lbs. and I normally wear a size 32/medium waist. I followed the advice of others here and sized down and ordered the small. It worked out well and I'm very happy with the briefs. I have now worn them for cold soccer games and a few cold runs. They have worked as advertised, but knocked from five to four stars because the waste band is higher then I prefer. I look forward to trying them on the slopes in winter 2012.

Great for thin faces and active pursuits

Zeal Tensai Sunglasses - Polarized

Zeal Tensai Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 5 May 22, 2011

I have a long, thin face, and 90% of all sunglasses look ridiculous on me because they're too big. However, the Tensai fit my face profile very well.

I use them exclusively for running and cycling. They never move, shift, or bounce in any way, which was a common problem I had with just about every other pair of sunglasses I tried. They are also very lightweight so you don't feel like you're wearing sunglasses, and I don't get that "pinched" feeling around my temples after +60 minute runs.

The ZB-13 polarized lenses are crystal clear and are great for the really sunny days, but can also still function on cloudy and rainy days.

Take a look at my other reviews, it takes a lot to get 5 stars from me, but these deserve it.

G3 el Hombre Fat Ski

April 8, 2010

Is this a good tele ski for a life-time alpine skier? I would stop just short of saying I'm expert on alpine (I'm not Jeremy Bloom), but many times, I'm waiting on friends and family when skiing. It's time for something new that just might slow me down while skiing in large groups. I'm an aggressive skier, comfortable in any terrain (trees, bumps, bowls, chutes), and so far I have been confined to resort skiing with the occasional hike. I want to get into tele so I can do more backcountry skiing here in Colorado. I've borrowed friends' setups three or four days here and there. Even when I get experience on tele, my guess is I'll still be doing 80% of my riding at the resort. Is this too much ski for someone new to tele but 25 years of alpine experience? I'm 6'1", 150 lbs, currently riding a 176cm alpine setup. I'm considering the 177cm.

Durability Does Not Align With Premium Price

Icebreaker BodyFit 200 Mondo 1/4-Zip Top - Men's

Icebreaker BodyFit 200 Mondo 1/4-Zip Top - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 December 28, 2009

I bought two of these shirts in winter 2008/2009. I loved them. I soon after bought Altitude crew shirts, superfine t-shirts, and leggings. I became a merino wool slut. Unfortunately, the durability on the Icebreaker products is terrible. Both of my BodyFit200 shirts have half a dozen very small random holes after just one ski season. We followed the instructions not to over-wash them and never put them in a dryer. This was our third Icebreaker product to do this (my wife's Nature Lite shirt and Altitude zip-top previously did this), while none of my other merino wool products have done this (DC, SmartWool, Ibex, ExOfficio). Icebreaker refused to replace them under any kind of warranty. Net-net: these things are awesome while they last, but at these premium prices, they should last a helluva lot longer.

What Warranty?!

Icebreaker BodyFit260 Altitude Zip Top - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Icebreaker BodyFit260 Altitude Zip Top - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 1 December 1, 2009

First, I am a long time and previously satisfied customer with Icebreaker products. My wife and I own dozens of their products including Atlas undershirts, Mondo zip tops, an Altitude mens crew, multiple Flower Pods Cross Camis, SweetHeart tops, leggings, and countless running, hiking and skiing socks. This is only the second Icebreaker item that we have had any issue with (the first was one of the SweetHeart tops that arrived with a hole and was easily exchanged).

I bought this shirt for my mother in fall 2008 for when she visits Denver. She lives in Phoenix. It has been worn less then five times and never needed washed. When she came to Denver this year, she pulled the shirt out and it had dozens of tiny holes in it. I contacted Icebreaker about a replacement and their response was... disappointing. "Normal fiber variation will occasionally lead to spontaneous holing in the fabric." So they'll replace it, right? "We do normally offer a one year warranty replacement on garments that are off design specific measurements, or has premature holing, tearing or pilling. This particular item is no longer made in this color and was discontinued over a year ago. Unfortunately, we are only able to replace with the same garment and cannot replace with an item that is priced at retail value." I sent a response and they validated that because the color I bought is no longer available, they won't replace it with a current color. Unacceptable for a top that costs this much.

Better then the pictures

prAna Totem Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

prAna Totem Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 11, 2009

This shirt is probably the cleanest looking of the four or five prAna shirts I've bought. The stripe pattern is sharp and this shirt doesn't have any of the diagonal stripes or funky stitching or uniquely placed logos that my other prAna shirts have. If a tie is not required, this is a great business casual shirt. Also doubles up for playing foosball and some socializing at happy hour after work! For fit: I'm 6'1" 150 lbs. and the large fits me well for length. A little loose in the chest, but that's normal for a skinny guy like me.

Zipper Issues

Marmot Adventurer Jacket - Men's

Marmot Adventurer Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 August 5, 2008

For the most part, I really liked the jacket. It was light weight as advertised, and the hood had a really nice cinching system that I would have loved. However, I couldn't get over a zipper problem. Whenever I unzipped the jacket, it would get caught in some stitching near the bottom of the neck. I exchanged the jacket, hoping it was just a fluke, but the second jacket had the same problem. A friend of mine got this jacket on the same deal here and he had similar problems but chose to live with it. I ended up returning this and getting a Marmot Stretch Jacket instead - I don't have the cool cinching feature on the hood, but the I don't have to mess with the zipper either.

Performed Well

Marmot Stretch Jacket - Men's

Marmot Stretch Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 5, 2008

I first used the jacket on a trip to Toronto. It was just trips between the car and the hotel/office and did well to keep me dry. I also used it during a concert that saw some light rain. The true test was a hike of Grays Peak and Torreys Peak - and it passed with flying colors. I've never had pit zips on a rain jacket before, it almost seems counter-intuitive, but they were wonderful on our hike as I stayed dry AND cool. My favorite feature of the jacket is that it packs light so that I can take it anywhere - outdoor adventure to around town. The only downfall is that the hood is too big for my head, at least without a hat on.

Lets me be me at work

prAna Phantom Stripe Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

prAna Phantom Stripe Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 5, 2008

The shirt is very nice and looks sharp. The pictures don't show some of the things that folks thinking of wearing this shirt in a business casual environment might be concerned about. The stitching on the pocket is not "traditional:" there are two thick seams toward the top of the pocket, plus the bottom seam is on a diagonal. The logo on the pocket is half on the pocket, half on the shirt. The Win (red) picture may help you see these intracacies best. There is a prAna script logo on the back by the right shoulder. And finally, the shoulder area on the back has stripes that are at a diagonal (not vertical or horizontal as most shirts would have). It may not be for everyone looking for a true dress shirt, but it lets me be me at work.

Paisleys and Snaps?

prAna Rishab Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

prAna Rishab Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 5, 2008

Ok, look closely at the picture, and you will notice that in addition to the contrast vertical striping, there is a paisley design inset. Look closer, it's there. Also, the "buttons" as the description says are actually snaps. At first, I wasn't sure what to think because it has a bit of a western cowboy (with paisleys?) look to it because of the snaps. However, after a couple times wearing it, I really like it because it is unique while still looking professional.

Very Happy

SmartWool Adrenaline Light Mini Sock

SmartWool Adrenaline Light Mini Sock

Rating for this product: 5 August 5, 2008

I bought three pair on a whim because I was wearing out my other running socks. I also have three pair of Under Armour running socks, which make my feet sweat grossly in comparison. I just picked up another three pair of the SmartWool because I liked them so much. I travel a lot for work, and now I take only two pair of these for a full week trip, rather then one pair per day and have had no problems (I love Merino wool). These things are incredible.

Keep It In The Car

CRKT Zilla-Tool

CRKT Zilla-Tool

Rating for this product: 5 August 5, 2008

This tool is great - I keep it in the truck so that I always have it for car-camping and cabin trips as well as other emergency repairs (tightening a binding, disconnecting a dead battery, to name a few). Also, it feels more solid, particularly when using the blade, then any of my friends' Leathermans. It's too big for a back-packing trip, though.

Performed Great

ExOfficio Buzz Off Vented Hiker Sock - Men's DO NOT USE

ExOfficio Buzz Off Vented Hiker Sock - Men's DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 August 5, 2008

I recently tested my new purchase on a trip to the summits of Grays Peak and Torreys Peak. These socks did great! I did not have any blisters, despite not having been in my hiking boots for well over a month. I'm used to my feet burning up by the time I get back to the trail head, but that didn't happen to me this time. I recently discovered the wonders of merino wool through SmartWool socks, but these were a little less expensive, so I thought I'd give them a try and I'm very happy!

Zeal Ignite ST Sunglasses - Polarized

Zeal Ignite ST Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 4 May 19, 2008

Loved the crystal-clear lenses - polarized lenses for much less then more well-known brands. Construction is nice and sturdy. Unfortunately, I have a small face, so these were just too big. The description should indicate these are for medium to large face size.

Zeal Tensai Sunglasses - Polarized

Zeal Tensai Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 5 May 19, 2008

I'm a trail runner and mountain biker and I've long been in search of polarized sport wrap sunglasses that won't shift on my nose or cause chafing on my ears. I've now logged hundreds of miles with these glasses and they still fit perfectly. If you've got a smaller face, these will be perfect for you - polarized lenses at a fraction of the "pop" brands!

Oakley Glacier Freeze Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 March 12, 2008

Love this jacket. Nice and warm with a couple of vents for blue bird days. The liner jacket has a funky style to it that is not evident in the pictures and I probably won't wear it separately. Fit is very large, I had to order an XS and I'm 5' 3" and this is still baggy and long in the arms.

Rating for this product: 5 March 10, 2008

They look fantastic and keep you very dry. They are warm enough for all but the absolute coldest single-digit days. They also keep you a very comfortable temperature on warmer days with all the vents.

Fitment note - seems to be an Oakley winter clothing thing: the fit is very large and baggy. I had to exchange my Medium for a Small.

Bought Two - One For Wife, One For Me

DAKINE Heli Pack - 660cu in

DAKINE Heli Pack - 660cu in

Rating for this product: 4 March 10, 2008

Great pack - even for those of us that just stay in bounds 99% of the time. Holds just enough gear for keeping extra layers and a lunch for a day on the slopes. I haven't had a chance to test the diagonal ski carry, I only hike when the conditions warrant.

The tube is freeze-resistant, but certainly not freeze proof on the coldest days or during night skiing.

I had an issue where the tube would disconnect from the reservoir - Dakine sent me a replacement reservoir and tube under warranty without issue.

Ordered a size Medium and a size Small, neither fit me at 5' 3". Both were too large. Think I would have loved the jacket, otherwise. Ended up getting another Oakley jacket in size XS (not available for this jacket) which I love.
