This watch is great. It looks much better then the picture on the web. It has a sturdy weight, but is not heavy on the wrist. This watch is probably not for you, unless you don't mind having pretty women stare at you all the time.

This pad shaves weight with its mummy design. When used with the Big Agnes bag it works nicely. I used it with another bag and still slept very well. It has a slim design (less weight) for using with the Big Agnes bags so if you move a lot then you will want the whole Big Agnes system. I don’t move a lot and I had the most comfortable nights I have ever spent above 11,000 feet. I will use this sleeping pad on every trip.

Good start for MSR.

Pros: Good ventilation, standard stakes are nice and light, two doors, it can be pitched with the fly and a ground sheet only to save weight.
Cons: Small vestibule areas, hard to keep it from sagging, not a lot of headroom, I can think of other free standing tents that are within a few ounces of weight, noisy in the wind.

This tool has just about everything you need, to fix anything you have. The only thing missing is a hammer (for obvious reasons). I like to keep one in the car, house and my backpack for emergencies or for sheer convenience. Why carry around a toolbox for small repairs when you can keep it on your belt.

I feel like I'm taking a luxury item hiking when I take this bag. It's not the lightest or most compressible bag but if I want a good night’s sleep I take this bag over my down bag. The Polarguard is better for kayaking and humid climates, and I like the extra layer of cushion it gives me with my sleeping pad.

The only thing worse than drinking a contaminated glass of water on a trip, is finding out your mother-in-law happens to be staying at the same hotel. There are many items that you can cut costs on and get a cheaper, slightly less functional piece of gear. But with water filters, it’s not a bad night’s rest or a tear in a pack that a roll of duct tape can fix. Although if you get a virus in your water you may consider using duct tape so you can get out of the baño for 5 minutes. If you want to quench your thirst without worrying about side effects then get a Katadyn. I take this filter hiking. It's not the lightest but I like the peace of mind.

Don't let the size fool you. This stove is so light I sometimes take it on day hikes and eat a warm meal when the weather is cold. Easy to store, pack, use and inexpensive to boot. This is one piece of gear you will never want to sell on Ebay.

This training board has a great variety of holds and depths for training. You will notice a big difference in your strength, stability and endurance. IF you stick to your workout.

These sunglasses have been durable and versatile. This sunglass comes with three shades of shades and I have used them all (and I didn't think I would). Now I don’t have to get new shades I just get new lenses.

The thought of using anything other then a Gregory pack for a long trip seems downright masochistic. I found I could go much farther much faster when my pack feels like part of my body and not like your hiking partner climbed into your pack when you weren’t looking. This pack will not give you that “what can I burn at the next camp to make my pack lighter” feeling.

I can hardly believe you can get a headlamp from Black Diamond for this price. I was a little leery buying a headlamp this inexpensive but with a brand like Black Diamond how can you loose? You can’t. I have used this headlamp in the cold and in very tight situations. The quality makes me forget how inexpensive it was.

This is the first sleeping pad I have owned. I don’t see any reason to pay more for a luxury pad just to end up with a heavier pack. I sleep like a baby on the Z-Rest and stay plenty warm and comfortable. I have used this sleeping pad many times, and have never had to worry about getting a bad night’s sleep on the trail.

Safe, simple, straight forward. It''s a classic.

We have a saying in the Rockies: "If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes." I throw this durable, packable and very lightweight jacket in my pack for fickle storms. I think this is the best rain protection value on the market.

I have owned this lamp for a while now and I love it. Lightweight, durable and very small. I put it in my pack even if I don’t think I’ll need it. What’s a few extra ounces? This lamp will not replace a headlamp with a regular beam but I have used it to hike a few miles in the dark and it was fine. There is no better headlamp for around camp, your car and for those "maybe I need a headlamp" situations. The only problem you will have with this headlamp is keeping your friends from stealing it.

This glove is great. I have a hard time deciding what this glove is best for. I use it for snowboarding, cleaning the snow off the car, shoveling the walk, sledding with the kids. I’m used to switching gloves when I change activity but not anymore. I won’t wear a regular pair of ski gloves again.

I use this pack for everything: day hikes, climbing, snowboarding, going to the park, hauling books and everything else. This bag is not too big to get in the way and still holds enough gear to take your headlamp along for an overnighter. Not to mention you’ll have life-sustaining water (or the potable liquid of your choice) with you all the time. I have tried second-rate hydration packs only to end up selling them on ebay (you may want to do the same). Don’t waste your time or money, get a real Camelbak.
