Favorite Camelbak So Far...

CamelBak Octane 8+ Hydration Pack - 2L

CamelBak Octane 8+ Hydration Pack - 2L

Rating for this product: 5 December 31, 2007

I've had a few camelbaks, both big and small, and I must say this is my favorite. I've also had a couple of other hydration packs, TNF, etc., but this one is my favorite (sounds like I go through a lot of packs, but I have 5 brothers and they get the ones I've slightly used). Every once in a while I run in the ditch on the side of the road 15 miles to the starbucks closest to my house, and this pack is perfect for it. It serves best for any day length or less off road activity (where light and fast is your ultimate end). Pack some zone bars, fruit, water, bike tools, and a rain jacket, and your set to go. If you are going to do something longer than a days length where more clothes might be needed or different layers, I would suggest getting the larger octane.

Best of It's Kind

MSR Pocket Rocket Stove

MSR Pocket Rocket Stove

Rating for this product: 5 December 31, 2007

I've owned two other MSR stoves, one for windy winter camping, one for the summer, and this one beats them both out. It's a very good "in between stove" for camping, climbing, adventure racing (I've used it for all three), when the weather isn't so bad, because this stove isn't made for windy conditions. Trying to use it at midnight during windy fall weather and you'll just end up pissed. BUT, bad weather aside, this stove is perfect. It's got a great boil time, totally lightweight, very adjustable flame (some MSR products go full blast or nothing), and if you need a windscreen (if doesn't come with one), then just go by one, or carry some cardboard with you. Great for your first stove, great for summer camping, great for post ride espresso, great gift (only 40 bucks!).
