  • Stomping Grounds:

Wasatch Mts. UT, Adirondacks NY, White Mts. NH
  • Bio:

Being from NY most people think I grew up with concrete and cabs outside my window. In reality I grew up about a 1/2 hour from the Gunks. One of the best places to rock climb in the world. I have lived besides close to the Gunks, Keene Valley NY, Plymouth NH, Flagstaff AZ and of course Sandy UT. Living in Sandy means having the Wasatch Mts. as my back yard. Having a mountain playground so close has allowed me to rock climb a ton and get 100+ days a year snowboarding in.

Light, Airy and Comfortable

prAna Mojo Shorts - Men's

prAna Mojo Shorts - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 27, 2009

These are super comfortable since they are so light and airy. With the elastic waist they never get hung up on your harness either the way a belt sometimes does. I have used mine a ton and they are still going strong!

Chaco Flip Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 27, 2009

These are really durable and will last forever! The sole is also slightly green with 25% recycled rubber. They have a ton of arch support unlike most flip flops.

Burton AK 3L Hover Softshell Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 27, 2009

These are really light and very durable. They have handled a ton of days this past season and did not rip at all. Charging cliffs and going through trees was no problem for these pants. I love mine!

Great Light Weight Durable Binding

Dynafit TLT Vertical ST Alpine Touring Binding

Dynafit TLT Vertical ST Alpine Touring Binding

Rating for this product: 5 September 27, 2009

These only go to a 10 DIN but are fine for most touring set ups since you are touring not ripping a huge line. If that is what you are doing go for the slightly more expensive 12 DIN ones.

Super Light and Really Durable!

Backcountry.com SynthTrail Crew Sock - 3-Pack

Rating for this product: 4 July 28, 2009

I have used these socks on everything from 4000ft approaches up to Lone Peak Cirque and in the Tetons to quick hour trail runs. They are super comfortable with padding in the right place and they breathe great. They do a good job of wicking moisture away from your foot. Because of this they do stink a lot after 3 or more days of use but what did you expect after that? You do need to be careful when taking them off or putting them on a sweaty foot. Since they are so light you can rip the area above the heel pretty quickly. Other than that they have no durability issues. $25 for 3 pairs of long lasting, light socks is a great deal also!

Great Versatile Crampon

Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampon

Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampon

Rating for this product: 5 July 27, 2009

These are super versatile and work great on steep snow/ice on everything from snowboard boots to approach shoes. I use mine all the time in the summer in the Tetons and the Cascades. They are steel also so they will not bend/break on rock like the lighter aluminum ones tend to.

Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampon

July 27, 2009

I have used them on my 5.10 Guide Tennies and they work fine. Those do not have a stiff sole at all. Prepare for wet feet if using them on approach/running shoes. They will work on literally almost any shoe.

Awesome Light Axe!

Black Diamond Raven Ice Axe

Black Diamond Raven Ice Axe

Rating for this product: 5 July 27, 2009

This axe is super light but still really durable. The pick is also a little more aggressive than a traditional mountaineering axe so that you can use it almost like a technical tool on alpine climbs that involve snow travel, moderate alpine ice and mixed climbing. I usually use a 70cm axe but for this kind of use I size down to around a 60cm tool. Then you get the best of both worlds.

Worth The Money

Metolius Freenut Nut Tool w/Palm Protector

Metolius Freenut Nut Tool w/Palm Protector

Rating for this product: 5 November 26, 2008

This little guy is worth every penny. The palm protector lets you get out the most stuck nuts with only minimal bruising to your hand. The little carabiner on it makes it light since you don't need a full size one to attach it to your harness. This is the best shaped nut tool out there also.

Sweet Rope

Petzl Nomad Climbing Rope - 9.8 mm

Petzl Nomad Climbing Rope - 9.8 mm

Rating for this product: 5 November 26, 2008

This rope is way more durable than ropes over a mm bigger. I have used it 4+ times a week for over 6 months now and it barely looks worn. The middle mark has lasted as well. I thought it would be gone by now but it is still there. The sheath is barely fuzzy. What a great rope! You can feel safe using it in a Gri Gri also. I have seen no problems using it in one.

The Yosemite Shoe

La Sportiva Miura Climbing Shoe - Men's

La Sportiva Miura Climbing Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 26, 2008

There is a reason these have been called that. They kill it at almost every type of climbing. If these fit your feet get them because you will never want another shoe. I size down about 2 sizes in these. Also I have a narrow heel and these fit me well.

Great For The Crag and Multi Pitch Routes

Metolius PAS Personal Anchor System w/ Element Locking Carabiner

Metolius PAS Personal Anchor System w/ Element Locking Carabiner

Rating for this product: 5 November 25, 2008

This anchor system is great at the crag for cleaning anchors (especially for beginners) and for hanging out at belays on multi pitch routes (no more clove hitch). It is great when raping multi pitch routes since you don't have to have two slings to go to each bolt at the rap anchor, or trust just one bolt at the rap anchors, while setting up the rappel.

Durable Glove

Black Diamond Kingpin Glove

Black Diamond Kingpin Glove

Rating for this product: 5 May 5, 2008

Most gloves that I use get holes in them after one season of use. These have lasted the whole ski season (70+ days)and have not shown any signs off getting holes yet!
