Ibex Starr Hybrid Softshell/Merino Jacket - Women's

Ibex Starr Hybrid Softshell/Merino Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 August 25, 2008

I was both happy and a little disappointed by this jacket. Good points: Well styled, true fit/sizing, looks nice on, good length, hand warmer pockets are cozy, fleecy colar lining is cozy, little belt looks cute. Bad points: The marino panels are only on the inner sleeve and side of body, all other panels are a very thin softshell fabric with no lining - the whole back panel is really thin and very cold if you're in the wind or really chilly conditions. Seems strange when our backs are one of the most vunerable parts in cold conditions...I ended up sewing in an extra layer of micro-fleece fabric to the inside of the back panel to give it some extra warmth and now it's wearable - so unless you are looking for a jacket with a thin back panel (maybe for cycling or walking with a pack on so you dont get a hot back??) or you are happy to do some sewing then don't bother with this one. Also - the hand cuffs are REALLY tight, I've got skinny little wrists and small hands and they leave red marks on my wrists after a while! Advice to Ibex - continue the thick marino fabric over the whole back panel and make the wrists a little wider, and then this jacket would be a real Starr!

The North Face Pamir WindStopper Fleece Jacket - Women's

June 16, 2008

I'd say its just that the Windwall uses TNF's own fabric, whereas the Pamir is made with WindStopper which is a Polartec brand fabric (ie - TNF doesn't own the name "WindStopper" but they do own the name "Windwall").

What's the difference between this Khumbu Jacket (TNF2582) and the other Khumbu jacket that is displayed which only comes in two colours (TNF3210) - is one just last year's stock??

A perfect jacket!

The North Face Allure Jacket - Women's

The North Face Allure Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 2, 2008

Warm, stylish, comfortable. I wore this jacket for 4 weeks straight while on a ski trip in Japan recently and loved it! The outer fabric is tough and it still looks like new after off-piste tree skiing, down town Tokyo shopping, busy train stations. Pockets are excellent and accommodated all my bits and pieces - lip balm, money, lift and train tickets, phrasebook, MP3 etc etc. I had heaps of compliments. If you're after an excellent quality down ski jacket you must consider this one by North Face - just perfect!

Chaco Z/1 Diamond Stealth Sandal - Womens'

May 30, 2008

I've got these sandals and have never noticed any marking, but must admit I haven't looked too closely. But did wear them for work on a wooden floor once and they never left a mark. The soles are vibram so super tough and all the same properties you'd expect from a quality vibram sole.

The North Face Moto Jacket - Women's

May 30, 2008

I usually find Northface sizes a little on the large size and I'm a 'bigger' woman. I figured they cater for athletic women. I've got plenty of girlfriends who are too small for many brands as they are naturally petite. So I guess it goes both ways.
