The North Face Gotham Down Jacket - Men's
November 6, 2009
Bri3383691,
I was referring more to the outer chest pockets. The one that zips and has a flap. The functionality of this pocket is confusing to me since it unzips, but isnt removable. Also the smaller pocket it covers seems to small to barely contain anything, let alone the small square of velcro that keeps it closed..

The North Face Sentinel Thermal Softshell Jacket - Men's
November 6, 2009
It seems there have been some mixed reviews about the warmth of this jacket...
I am looking for a solid multipurpose softshell jacket that will keep me warm in cold temperatures (lets say around 15-20F) but won't get me sweating near 60F. I'd like it to be a North Face as well.
Anyone have any suggestions of comparable jackets to the Sentinel Thermal but possibly warmer? Not the apex bionic tho...
Thanks!

The North Face Gotham Down Jacket - Men's
October 23, 2009
Hi all you gotham lovers...
Can anyone tell me what is the purpose/function/utility of the front zip chest pocket? Why is it zip? Why does it help that it zips and folds over? and what are both the chest compartments meant to hold? The inner pocket with just the Velcro seems to dainty to actual contain something in there securely.
Has anyone found a proper use for these pockets?

The North Face Venture Parka - Men's
October 7, 2009
I am interested in researching any other jacket suggestions of equal or better waterproof-ness to the Venture Parka (with pit-zips) BUT with an alternative to the storm flaps.. Such as a taped zipper.
Although I DO like the length of the parka and would like a longer-type jacket as apposed to a normal Jacket fit up to the hips.
Please help if you are familiar with any other similar jackets
It is very much appreciated!

Does the inner down jacket "become one" and zip into the larger shell as does the NF VORTEX?

Mountain Hardwear Alchemy Softshell Jacket - Men's
October 4, 2009
I've been looking for an all around great and good quality softshell jacket to last me for many years to come from Either NF or MH. Going to be using it for all around outdoors & city usage. I have been researching both companies for a while along this line but am interested in others' suggestions.
A girlfriend has this jacket (MH Alchemy) in women's and suits her well in temps as low as 20F with just the jacket and a thin thermal. I love the stiff and slicking material and would like mine to have a similarly stiff/solid build to it. Unlike a more clothy or fleece type.
MY QUESTION: How does this jacket match up to the MH Nemesis jacket? In terms of warmth, material quality/durability and any other factors that may be important (please feel free to contribute).
I am also interested in comparing the Better of the two (Nemesis vs. Alchemy) against the NF Apex Bionix. I am interested in any and all suggestions or previous experience with these!
Thanks much!
