Excellent pack, just needs a few small additions

I can't add much to what has already been said. I have the 32L medium, and it fits me perfectly (6'1" with long legs and short torso). I can fit everything inside it that I need for a day trip, except for a helmet (I have fit the helmet in before, but I have to leave something out like a poofy coat or lunch). I can even fit my BD Deploy 7 shovel in it easily. What I like best is that it has everything you need to be organized and access things easily, but not too many pockets. I also like that the main compartment zips almost all the way down so you can easily pack it and get to stuff in the bottom.

The only two things I would ask for is to make the hip belt more substantial so it transfers more load to the hips and off the shoulders, and add one or two pockets on the belt so I can get to snacks, etc without taking the pack off. (I know, I could carry that in my jacket pockets, but when I'm skinning up I'm usually stripped down to my pocket-less base layer).

Great fleece, needs a few improvements

Mountain Hardwear Microchill Fleece Zip Tee - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Microchill Fleece Zip Tee - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 2, 2009

This fleece is much warmer than its weight or thickness would suggest. I wear it over a base layer skiing and am fine for anything 20 degrees to freezing with just a hard shell on. The fit is good, too. (I'm 6'1" 165 lbs and ordered a medium. Large would be too bulky.) And no piling!

I just wish it had some kind of pocket, to put things in that need to stay warm (energy bars, lip goop), and was tighter around the wrists. I think they should make the cuffs out of PolarTech Power Stretch fleece, to help keep the sleeves down over your arms.

As breathable as a PVC jacket

Sugoi HydroLite Jacket - Women's

Sugoi HydroLite Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 November 7, 2008

I bought the men's version of this jacket, because I thought it would be more breathable than my PI jacket with a membrane fabric ("OxB"). It's not! This material does not breathe at all. It is waterproof, but you get wet from the inside out really fast. Save your money and buy a $20 vinyl or polyurethane jacket. BTW, there is no such thing as a waterproof "breathable" membrane for cycling - none of them transmit water vapor fast enough to keep you dry during prolonged aerobic efforts like cycling. You have to have ventilation. I'm waiting for a good eVent cycling jacket to come out - maybe that will work better.
