  • Stomping Grounds:

200 miles above Yosemite Valley would be amazing...
  • Bio:

...BUt NO - just one of the crew members from STS122 in the photo. But...IF I COULD!...WOOHOO!! Now THAT is an outdoor adventure worth taking!

Oboz Ignition Trail Running Shoe - Men's

June 19, 2009

These shoes are simply the best! Hiked all over Angkor and many temple sites in central Cambodia in my Oboz last month. Climbing up the trail to the Kbal Spean site, I felt like a local gecko, clinging to the rocks, treking over huge boulders through the humid rain - and this is after 18 months of regular use back home in the States! These shoes are just great!

Can you get another shipment of 13's in stock please?!!

Nice, but...

Kavu Synthetic Strapcap

Kavu Synthetic Strapcap

Rating for this product: 2 April 2, 2009

...I was looking for something to REALLY keep the sun off my head for an upcoming venture into Malaysia and Thailand. The brim wasn't as lage as I expected, although the black underside is a nice feature. It sort of fit my head like a glove. (???) I think it would be a great hat for running and jogging in, because it sure is lightweight enough to expel the heat. As for me though, I'm going back to the well for another choice...

Columbia Hydro Hog Short - Men's

Columbia Hydro Hog Short - Men's

Lightweight, roomy enough to stretch yet not baggy. I have yet to get out on the trail in them, but they have been wearing them for casual wear everyday since I received them - very comfy. The pocket locations get some getting used to for me, but that's not a negative assessment. (They orient 45 degrees towards the back of your thigh and barely big enough to hold a wallet. Need a fanny pack with these...)

I agree with the comment made on the November 12 posting about the lack of a drawstring or belt loops: I got mine to fit perfectly (XL) and they don't feel cramped or loose. If I lost 15 lbs, however, I'm not thinking that they would stay up though.

Got these for my wife for some trekking she's going to be doing in and around around Southeast Asia in May. She has been wearing them daily to get a good break-in and just finds them to be comfortable in every way. I really appreciate the previous comments about them being sized small: she wears 8 1/2 and we got size 8 - perfect fit!

Oh Yeah!!

Oboz Sidewinder Hiking Shoe - Men's

Oboz Sidewinder Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 23, 2009

What is it about this little known company (at least to me) out of Montana? They make great shoes! My first pair was their Ignition trail runners which I simply loved to their ruin - I wore them everywhere! Construction site, the gym, on the local running trails...grocery shopping! I thought I'd try something a little more durable this time with the Sidewinder and so far I am not disappointed. They are comfortable on my size 13 foot with no wiggle room when synched slightly snug, and durable without feeling like I'm lugging around excess weight. The construction doesn't look cheaply made either. I'm impressed...

Oh...and least I forget: Backcountry.com - love the fast service, no hassle returns, user reviews and follow-up's on my orders. Even though I'm an _ _ _ member and they have a store in my city, I don't even compare any more. You are THEE One Stop Shop...thanks!

No kidding - they fit like my mechanics gloves. I've never had a pair of athletic-type shoes feel snug, not tight. I really enjoy them! reaqt support and they handle well on the beach trails that I cruise over. I should have bought two pair at this price. THe support is really nice, as well. All told, I'm surprised and pleased.

Very cool...
