Great Parka

Columbia Bugaboo Parka - Men's

Columbia Bugaboo Parka - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 30, 2008

Bought this last year before a ski trip to replace my old North Face Parka. Held up great for the trip and have been wearing it ever since. Windproof shell makes it great for cold windy days in Kansas. Fleece liner looks great as a standalone and keeps me plenty warm when I'm not in full-on bundle up mode. Removable hood is a nice feature (I always thought rolling it up in the collar looked kinda dorky) and was a great improvement over my old North Face. Plenty of pocket space means there's no reason why you can't carry the hood somewhere else, too. For the price, it's hard to beat.

CRKT Point Guard Knife

CRKT Point Guard Knife

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2008

I picked up two of these knives for under $20 each on steepandcheap a few weeks as gifts for my brother and dad. When I got them in the mail I decided my dad would have to settle for something else for Christmas. I was immediately impressed with the quality of the knife, the sharpness of the blade and the ease of use. The open-assist mechanism makes it easy to open one-handed with EITHER hand, which I know is a big sticking point for lefties. I carry this with me everywhere I go and use it whenever I get the chance. After using it, I know would have gladly paid twice what I did for another.

Giro 2008 Encore 2 Helmet

October 20, 2008

I actually went ahead and ordered this helmet on Tramdock anyway. Fits great and there's no gap between it and my goggles. Really excited to hit the slopes and test it out.

Columbia Steens Mountain Full-Zip Jacket - Men's

Columbia Steens Mountain Full-Zip Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 17, 2008

This is a great jacket as long as you know what you're getting. It's not for super cold days and it won't stop the wind, but it's a nice comfortable jacket for moderately chilly days. I'm 6'3" 195lbs and I got the Men's L-Tall. Fits perfectly, not too long but great coverage.

Giro 2008 Encore 2 Helmet

October 16, 2008

Any goggle gap on this? I've heard on the G10 there are some issues with Anons but Smiths work great. I have Spy Blizzards if that helps.

Seirus Neofleece Combo Scarf

October 15, 2008

How's the neck gaiter on this? Is it worth paying a little extra for or would I be just as well off with a face guard and a neck gaiter separately?

Seirus Neofleece Combo Scarf

October 14, 2008

How is the neck protection with this thing? It looks like it'd be great for the face, but is it worth paying extra or would I be better off just buying a face mask and wearing the neck gaiter i already own?
