GoPro HD HERO2 Outdoor Edition

GoPro HD HERO2 Outdoor Edition

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2012

Hard to beat this thing... waterproof, shockproof, bombproof. Mounts anywhere. Footage looks great, and it's MUCH easier to use than the previous generation (the new user interface is a huge improvement). And it even takes 11 megapixel still photos. I take mine everywhere and absolutely love it.

GoPro HD Helmet HERO

December 15, 2010

It's super tough. I've taken some really hard falls on my downhill bike and the thing keeps going. Plus, the lens and latch on the outer case are replaceable, so even if something does break, you only need to replace that one part.

perfect lightweight glove

DAKINE Viper Glove - Men's

DAKINE Viper Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 7, 2010

Great gloves. I've had 2 pairs and they're perfect for spring days, but I also use them with wool glove liners on colder days. Durable, stylish, keep my hands dry, and they never make my hands overheat. Love 'em.

fantastic all-around ski

Rossignol S3 Koopman Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 September 8, 2010

Got a pair of these last February and they are simply spectacular. They carve, slash, slarve, pop, float, bust crud, pretty much whatever you want 'em to do. Very stable, very fun, and they were even a blast when I found myself at Mammoth in late April with 12" of fresh and no powder skis. This ski really defines "all-mountain."

Salomon Czar Ski

September 8, 2010

182 will definitely be too short for you - go with the 190. I'm 6'1" and spent some time on the 182cm last season, and although it's a great ski, it skis very short because of the long tip rocker. The only difference between last year's and this year's Czar is that Salomon added a layer of bamboo to the construction, which I'm pretty sure won't make any difference. I certainly know I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

binding perfection

Look Pivot 18 Ski Binding

Look Pivot 18 Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 5 August 31, 2010

Bomb-proof, solid, simple. Best bindings I've ever owned. Yeah they're expensive, but they'll probably last until I'm 70, so it's all good. These are the bindings you buy if you don't want to worry about your bindings ever again. Very consistent release too - I've never pre-released from these, and yet they always let go when I need them to. Not that I ever crash though...

bad sound

Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket w/Mic Bud Headphones

Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket w/Mic Bud Headphones

Rating for this product: 1 August 29, 2010

These ear buds don't sound very good. I tried them with my computer, my stereo, my iPod, and my iPhone, and no matter what the source, the music sounds muffled. There is a heavy bias towards bass - the lows are almost overpowering, but the mids and highs are barely there. My $20 Apple ear buds that I bought 5 years ago sound better, and are much lighter and more comfortable to boot.

simple, solid pants

The North Face Monte Cargo Pant - Men's

The North Face Monte Cargo Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 26, 2010

very simple design, bordering on minimalistic. only the front pockets zip closed; the back pockets and cargo pockets use velcro. nice, roomy fit. no bells and whistles on these, just solid construction from a reputable name in outerwear.

Salomon Czar Ski

December 22, 2009

I too am looking for more opinions on the mounting point. Got a pair of Czars coming in the mail tomorrow and will be using them as an everyday ski at Snowbird (not for deep pow days though; I have another pair of sticks for that). Above anything else, I need them to be able to ski tracked out crud. Will the forward mounting point help or hinder their performance in choppy snow?

Liberty Hazmat Alpine Ski

March 10, 2009

Definitely go with the 181. These skis actually measure a bit short, so the 181 is actually only 179cm long. They are very nimble as well, so the longer length won't be an issue.
