I'm 5'11" 185 and gaining. I've grown up skiing in Michigan. I've taken many trips to Colorado, BC, spent 2 years at the University of Utah and my last trip was to Jackson Hole. Before the trip I purchased my first pair of fat skies, these Gotamas (183's) and Damn are they good. They were great in the powder which is sort of a no brainer but what amazed me is how fun they were in the crud and even groomers. Thats right I said it, groomers. They cut nice big GS turns and feel incredibly stable. A little slow edge to edge so if you like quick little turns probably not your ski. They weren't much fun in the bumps, kept kickin me out. You've got to be pretty burly to run these though the bumps.
Bottom line: Tackle the whole mountain, Powder, Crud, Ice, Groomers. If I'm skiing east of say, Denver, I'd get something a little narrower.

I've been searching for a helmet to have a little fun with and this is it. It fits my melon perfect and has a nice round shape to put graphics on. See the picture below. I got the matte metallic gold which was pretty blah. A couple of shots of gold metallic paint (designed for plastic) later and some decals and it looks pretty close to the real thing. Love it!

I just got from four days a Jackson Hole. Out of the box and on to the hill. They got better each day. I didn't even loosen them at lunch on day four. Skied Casper Bowl and the Crags. Comfy on the way up and performed in knee to waist deep pow on the way down. They also soaked up some crusty hard bumps in the Hobacks lower down on the mountain. My only beef is they tend to bite the top of you ankle upon entry and exit. Be careful. 26.5's on 9.5 shoe size feet.

I had these home for awhile and wanted them to work but they weren't quite right for my feet. Super high quality, sweet leather interiors. A steel at 389.97 if they fit ya.
