Hestra Cloud Nine Glove

Hestra Cloud Nine Glove

Rating for this product: 3 March 12, 2010

size 9 is way smaller than a size 9 in hestra vertical cut freeride. size up by 1 or 2 IMO. leather and whole glove actually seemed to just get soggy after a full day. not the best hestra product IMO but they nailed the styling. maybe if i had the correct size i'd be more happy. but, for performance, suggest stoic inbounds or hestra freeride

Marker Jester 16 Ski Binding

March 12, 2010

UPDATE - for the jig/mounting, if your shop doesn't have a tool or you want to do it yourself, search on the TGR forum. as for the gear, i love the jesters. super solid binding. no complaints at all. i know there are lighter options out there, but i am perf happy with the bombproof product that Marker puts out there.

Volkl Gotama Ski

January 28, 2010

demo'd the gotama's in 186 w jesters this past weekend during the 7ft in 7days at alta/snowbird. 6'2" 180, usual ski my blizzard titans w dukes, wanted to try rockered. goats performed so well in all conditions. great float on the untracked fresh snow, very playful and fun to shmear turns. handle the choppy stuff well, and they like to go fast fast fast. no issues on the occasional groomers. gave me confidence to stomp some landings off drops 5-10 feet high, and full speed runout performace was stable. no complaints. tomahawked a couple landings without losing skiis, love the jesters. overall amazing ski. want to get on an obsethed or atomic bentchetler and try the camber/early rise before buying new set. 186 did not feel too big. if anything, could have been more like 190 with all that pow.

K2 ObSETHed Alpine Ski

January 6, 2010

Thx to seth and all for the questions re sizing & mounting. I'm in the same boat, looking at these among others to get the most fun out of a new set. 6'2" 185, snowbird/alta/brighton/jackson/targhee. non-local getting in about 15 days a season. usually score a good 5-10" day on each trip, then spend the rest of my time on cut up powder and searching trees and sidecountry for stashes. i'm wondering how much more 'playful' the 179 vs 189 would be - i prefer to rip around and jump off stuff, rather than straighling big stuff. my only concern is whether the 189 will be too big (that's what she said) and if they would be less fun in tight trees or jumping off rocks and stuff. currently on blizzard titan 180 for all mountain style with AT setup, looking to add a new set for fun when there is fresh snow. anybody able to comment on these vs. gotama's in the 186? anyone know of a shop in the SLC area that demos these? big THANKS!!

Blizzard Titan Argos IQ Alpine Ski w/ FR 16 Binding

Blizzard Titan Argos IQ Alpine Ski w/ FR 16 Binding

Rating for this product: 5 March 25, 2008

i just ripped on these for 3 days at alta with GREAT SUCCESS! day one had plenty of powder 10"++ and packed stuff. They rip. day two i spent in the trees they ripped on the hard pack and in the steeps. it was bumped out but these babies are quick, stable, and responsive. day three was 50 degrees, and they ripped on the cement like morning snow, they ripped on the groomers, the ripped on the afternon softies, and they ripped on the remaiining pow stashes i found. did i mention they ripped? i've never been on a ski that felt like the entire edge was engaged at all times. the things are so well balanced, it is sick. the marker binding is an added bonus when heading out the gate for a hike to a pow stash, but forget the fact that it's a touring binding - the integrated channel on the titan makes it feel like the whole ski is mounted to your boot, not just the binding.
