Nice jacket, not very durable though.

The North Face Release Fleece Jacket - Men's

The North Face Release Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 January 7, 2009

Loved the jacket from day one... til about day 3. The material snags on the most unassuming things. It does not hold up to "normal everyday use". I began finding pinhole-sized tears and small holes in random places and once the material snags on something, it runs like nylon stockings/pantyhose! I did & still do receive unsolicited compliments on the jacket (bought it in Molten Red) wherever I go, which is a shame since I decided to return it. It is adequately warm & lightweight, but does not block wind, so I'd recommend it for use in weather no colder than maybe 40'F or right at freezing. If it hadnt been for the frail material, I would have kept it. Note: this is only the first of maybe a few dozen The North Face products I have purchased that have left me disappoined. However, since Backcountry maintains 100% customer satisfaction and has allowed me to return the "faulty" jacket for a full refund/exchange, I'm left with a not-so-bitter taste in my mouth from this purchase. A+ for Backcountry, D+/C- for The North Face on this product.

The North Face Release Fleece Jacket - Men's

January 6, 2009

The outer material is a waffle-like stretchable fabric, but it isnt very durable. It snags on practically everything. Plus, it forms pinholes in random areas. it is warm, but nowhere close to the Denalis. It is a 100-weight fleece & doesnot block wind at all. It is very lightweight & has stellar looks- you are guaranteed to get compliments on it left & right, no doubt. It has a very soft almost velvet-like fleece lining on its inner surface, so it is comfortable if wearing short sleeves & the like. I would have kept it had it not been for the damn thing leaving runs & holes in it from normal, relatively light everyday use. Hope this helps.

The North Face "Stay-Puft Marshmallo Man"! (in molten red)

The North Face Himalayan Insulated Parka - Men's

The North Face Himalayan Insulated Parka - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 11, 2008

Love the Parka- its amazingly lightweight for its appearance- oh, about the title- this thing is wicked lofty! If you are worried about "looking 40 lbs heavier in your jacket, this isnt for you- If you couldnt care less about how inflated you appear- by all means BUY IT! This a great parka for the money (got mine @ 30% off from here @ Backcountry.com- would have bought another but the price returned to retail/MSRP since). The only boggle I have with it are the "monkey cuffs". But once you resolve to the fact they are there to stay, they really dont mind them too much. Thought about cutting them off, but they are easily tucked up out of the way around your wrist & back up into the sleeves. Ive received compliments on the color (Molten Red) and the simplicity of the jacket/parka design is outstanding. I have purchased maybe 25-30 various TNF products and have given them to my wife & extensive family members as gifts on numerous occassions. I highly recommend this parka for casual wear as well. You dont sweat in it even if the weather is mild but are securely warm if the temp plummetts. One more thing- the hood does NOT detach from the jacket and with the "neck roll" which is also sewn into the neck of the jacket, the two together can look like a "sack of potatoes" residing behind your head. Love the color, size is near-true ( I usually buy an XL, but as TNF sizes run comfortably big, I opted for the L instead- fits perfectly with room to move freely & layer underneath. Tried a Med in this coat but the area around the waist/hip area was too snug (5'10, a non-athletic 213 lbs).

The North Face Wiggum Full Zip Sweatshirt - Men's

December 10, 2008

I would guess that your lucky boyfriend (lucky 'coz he'll be receiving a TNF product, oh yeah, and of course that you are so thoughtful and he has been blessed by the gods for having such a wonderful girlfriend like yourself...) is considering one of TNF Denali fleece jackets (one of the most commonly copied designs- even The Gap, Old Navy & L.L.Bean have similar designs) or, the Redpoint Hybrid (I am also considering getting one of these for myself, could you get in touch with my wife- preferrably before Xmas?). The Redpoint would be warmer, but the Denali fleece more versatile. The Denali Fleece has the sweater-like sleeves, with a nylon-type material on the upper half of the chest & shoulders. The Redpoint hybrid has a jacket-like shinier body (neck to waist) with what I think are fleece-type sleeves (its a newer design). Hope this helps! BACKCOUNTRY.COM rocks!

better than my Shox!

Patagonia Footwear Huckleberry Approach Shoe - Men's

Patagonia Footwear Huckleberry Approach Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 3, 2008

Since having had 3 lower spine surgeries, I've been religiously wearng only Nike Shox on a daily basis/at work since I'm on my feet most of the day. I saw these shoes, liked the design, saw them on sale, so I ordered a pair, thinking if I dont like them, I'd just return them. To my surprise, after wearing them to work once, I've since retired my dozen or so pairs of Shox & now wear these shoes pretty much everywhere. They look great with jeans, cargos, scrubs, etc- and most importantly, they are very comfortable! I'm thinking of buying another pair just so I'll have another set handy when these wear out. I highly recommend them!

The North Face Himalayan Insulated Parka - Men's

November 28, 2008

Hood is attached and can be adjusted insize due to its "drawstring", not real bulky, but there is quite a bit of insulation in the whole jacket anyway. The whole jacket is surprisingly light for its appearance. Absolutely love the one I got. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a parka. Only issue are the "monkey sleeves"- but once you get used to them they arent too bad. They can be bunched up into the sleeve anyway.

Never stop.. buying The North Face products!

The North Face Verdi Down Jacket - Men's

The North Face Verdi Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 17, 2008

been a long-time fan of The North Face products. have even given thier products as as Christmans gifts to my family members in the Chicago region- needles to say, thay all loved them as well. True, he prices are up there, but everyting is well wpth the prices- especialy when on sale. This jacket I bought for myself, as my McMurdo PArka was a tad too long for geting in & out of my elevated SUV. This jaceket is Perfect. am also expecting an order for the Apex jacket (fall & cooler weather, sweatshirt & windfall gloves as my last goves of 6 years finally saw its last season & were no longer keeping out the cold breezes). the only gripe (not even really a gripe) in theat the logo & lining of my jacket are all chocolate brown, vs a shown white logo & charcoal-black look in the posted photo. Anyway, its diferent & still looks good- most inportantly it WARM & fits me PERFECTLY (I'M about 5'10' 225lbs- unusally buy XL but this L is PERFECT in the body & sleeve length. I highly recommend theis jacket to ANYONE!
