Warm Warm Warm

Western Mountaineering AlpinLite: 20 Degree Down

Western Mountaineering AlpinLite: 20 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 October 6, 2006

Although rated at 20 degrees, this bag goes comfortably down to 10 degrees, perhaps even lower. It does get hot on warmer trips, which makes the full zipper nice. Stuff sack it came with is not very useful, but use the XS Granite Gear compression sack instead.

Comfortable, but so-so stitching

Ibex Echo T-Shirt Short-Sleeve - Men's

Ibex Echo T-Shirt Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 1, 2006

Wore the shirt for a few days in a row at Yellowstone. It's very light, no stink, no itch but at times when I put the shirt on over my head, I hear a stitch tearing, and my head is not that big.

Snowshoe Heaven

Atlas 12 Series Snowshoes

Atlas 12 Series Snowshoes

Rating for this product: 5 March 22, 2006

After owning a pair of Sherpa snowshoes and borrowing a pair of Tubbs, the Atlas 12 Series are indeed snowshoe heaven. Most importantly, the bindings are easy to put on all types of shoes, from hiking boots to snowboard boots, the bindings are extremely comfortable, and the bindings STAY IN PLACE AND KEEP MY FOOT SQUARELY ON THE SHOE, which can't be said for a lot of the other snowshoe bindings. The crampons dig deep on the steeps and most of time prevents me from slipping. Another impressive feature is the weight...much lighter than I thought they would be. A+++.

Great but hard to fill

CamelBak StoAway

CamelBak StoAway

Rating for this product: 4 May 30, 2005

A nice addition to my backpack. I'll never hike without a CamelBak again. Pro: No need to worry about the bladder splitting/tearing (as has happened to me before) as the insulating padding is tough. Con: It is nearly impossible to put 70 ounces in the bladder as the hole is too big and water begins to spill when I screw it shut. It’s closer to 50 ounce capacity, I'd say. I suppose this is the case with all of the new Omega Reservoirs.
