As good as it gets for a backpacking boot

Vasque Sundowner GTX Backpacking Boot - Men's

Vasque Sundowner GTX Backpacking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 14, 2011

I got these boots for Christmas when I was in 9th grade. I am now 23 years old and still wear the hell outta these boots! Although the sole is very warn (to be expected after 8+ years of use) the leather is still in great condition and the sole still provides reasonable support! I've had 2 other pair of $200 range backpacking boots that have fallen apart in much less time. Most comfortable boots I've warn and like other reviews say.... GIVE THEM TIME to break in! Any full leather high end boot is going to be stiff straight outta the box. Break them in and you'll have yourself an incredible boot for years to come.

The best. Hands down

Kaenon Burnet Sunglasses - Polarized

Kaenon Burnet Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 5 October 24, 2011

I've had a lot of sunglasses. Most have been polarized. These are hands down the most comfortable, best fitting sunglasses I've ever had. Rubberized nose piece adds comfort and grip and the frames stay put on your face extremely well. The lens is unmatched for clarity and weight. Hinges are well built and frames seem very durable. No one wants to pay $240 for sunglasses that are going to fall off doing anything active...especially something like deep water fishing and have them slip off your face into the water. These can be worn running, hiking, biking and even kayaking or rafting (although I'd get some chums!). If you have the cash, and are good at keeping track of your sunglasses, pull the trigger.... you wont regret it. * MADE IN ITALY

Mountain Hardwear Nitrous Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 15, 2011

this thing is made well and with obviously the highest loft down you'll really see in a down jacket. only complaint is the no internal pocket. but all in all its a super comfortable, super compressible, super warm jacket at a good price.

Eureka Tetragon 1210 Tent: 8-Person 3-Season

Eureka Tetragon 1210 Tent: 8-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 May 15, 2011

for the price, this is an excellent 8 man tent. It may be a family tent but it stands up to the worst of conditions. Little did we know there'd be thunderstorms, heavy rain and 30mph winds at times. This tent stood up to it and kept us dry.

bought this for my sister for christmas and she loves it. said its super warm and soft. wind resistant but not windproof of course. And i know she wasnt lying cus she knows she could have returned it regardless of the fact she'd been wearing it the last few days if it wasn't warm enough or anything else because backcountry is freaking awesome

Full Tilt Seth Morrison Pro Model Ski Boot - Men's

December 8, 2010

Seth, what method do you used to heat your own liners? I know this can be tricky to not over do it...but I've wanted to do my own for a while.

Rossignol FKS 180 Ski Binding

November 10, 2010

Im putting my fks 18's 115 break on my Bent Chetlers which are 123 underfoot and although I would like to have a slighty wider break, putting them on a 123 won't be a problem at all.

Atomic Bent Chetler Ski

October 19, 2010

I second what Josh said about the center mount. Only do it if you ski switch every once and a while. And I have these skis with the fks 18's mounted just a hair back from center. Best set up i've ever ridden. if you havent looked into the fks bindings....you should.

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Pro Binding -108mm

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Pro Binding -108mm

Rating for this product: 4 September 30, 2010

unlike the Dukes, these bindings are able to switch from ski to touring mode without removing your boot, which comes in handy on steep faces and deep snow when clipping boots in and out of bindings can be a hassle. Black Diamond has made a number of improvements to these bindings this year the most important being torsional rigidity for improved control. In the touring/alpine binding department i'd go for these or the Marker Dukes.

DAKINE Scout Glove - Men's

DAKINE Scout Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 19, 2009

the liners are super comfortable and overall these gloves are nice and warm down to anything above around 15-20F. When it gets super cold you might want something with a bit more insulation but these are great because when it gets a little warmer your hands wont be too hot that youre sweating and need to take them off

Rossignol Axial2 120 Pro Ski Binding

Rossignol Axial2 120 Pro Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 4 February 19, 2009

Rossi bindings are always pretty solid. I usually go with a higher din...either 14 or 16 but threw these on my smaller skis and they do great. You generally want to get a binding that has a maximum DIN setting of at least 2 or 3 above where you set them at. So if you ride with the DIN set on 11, a binding with a max DIN of 12 probably is a bit low. But i use these on my spring/park skis and dont ever have my DIN that high and they've worked great. they dont pop out when you dont want them to and release when you need them to.
