Great mid weight

SmartWool TML Mid Full-Zip Hooded Top - Men's

SmartWool TML Mid Full-Zip Hooded Top - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 14, 2012

I recently picked up one of these Mid-weights in the Light grey/ Green color way. The fit is awesome.. Im 6'5" and 195lbs, so finding a Layering piece that fits well has always been a struggle for me till now. This layer is warm, long in the sleeves, looks great and is very comfy. The only downside i've found is that the chin piece is starting to pill a bit, but it could be due to my stubble? Overall, a great mid weight layer for the cold days.

Great Socks!

Stoic Synth Ski Sock - 2-Pair

Stoic Synth Ski Sock - 2-Pair

Rating for this product: 5 June 8, 2011

I purchased these socks last month, because I needed some new Ski socks. I have been using Smartwool socks for years, so i was a bit hesitant at first. These socks are awesome, and have exceeded all of my expectations. They're light weight, and very comfy. THey wick moisture better than smartwool, and are even more comfy too. THese were a great purchase., and highly recommended for skiers looking for lighter weight ski socks.

Asolo Fugitive Gore-Tex Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 21, 2011

awesome bang for the buck. Very little break-in period if any at all. I have had a pair of these for six years, and they are finally starting to wear out. super good durability. I have re-waterproofed mine a couple times,. they are also pretty warm for colder temps, but they're no sorels. Look no further for an affordable, reliable, durable and comfy hiking boot. just click that little orange button up top!

Sucks

Suunto Vector Altimeter Watch

Suunto Vector Altimeter Watch

Rating for this product: 1 May 20, 2011

I bought this watch a couple years back, for the altitude, and barometric features. The altimeter worked better, after calibrating it and the barometer worked fine. THe actual time function was nice due to the size of the readout. After 2 months, i had to replace the battery. oh well 15 bucks. then another six months went by, and then another battery. shortly after 9 months or so, the watch stared to fall apart.. the compass would go hay-wire, and the altimeter started to become less accurate. overall, i would just buy an altimeter/barometer watch from casio next time.

Dalbello Sports Krypton Rampage Ski Boot - Men's

Dalbello Sports Krypton Rampage Ski Boot - Men's

These boots are great for everyday ripping. My suggestion, would be to replace the top velcro strap with a Booster strap for added comfort and versatility.

Dalbello Sports Krypton Rampage Ski Boot - Men's

May 18, 2011

Try to air out your boots as soon as your done riding. take out the liners, and replace them when dry. also a boot heater/warmer will facilitate that, in addition to adding warmth on colder days. I typically put a little "gold bond foot powder" in my boots if they are super moist and stinky. You can also buy some cedar blocks for the more natural approach.

Yakima DoubleDown 2 Bike Rack

Yakima DoubleDown 2 Bike Rack

Rating for this product: 4 May 18, 2011

I bought this rack last year, and it was a breeze to install. It holds the bikes pretty well with the addition of carrying arms for the top tubes. Although i think i would invest in the hold-up or stick-up next time as far a ease of getting the bikes on and off, in addition to the stick-up holding the wheels in a stationary position. the Double down is nice for the cost though.

THese skis are super sweet... Just a heads up on any one looking at the 186 size, is that there is no swallow tail, just because there is no picture, it does state this above as well, also to give you the heads up, the turn radius is a 29m as well. cheers

Holden Puffy Down Jacket - Men's

Holden Puffy Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 17, 2011

This jacket is an awesome purchase. I have been super stoked on all holden stuff ive used so far. great for everyday use at the resort, and its super warm. It has super long sleeves and torso, but not boxy cut. If your'e looking for something better for back country use, I would recommend the TREW gear as well, with just a slight better water-proofing, and breathability.

The best Hestra's i've found

Hestra Ski Cross Glove

Hestra Ski Cross Glove

Rating for this product: 5 May 15, 2011

Of all the different Hestra gloves i have Skied with over the years....Seth's, another pair of Seth's, Vertical Cuts, Guides, and the Army's,, These are for sure the best, For a couple of reasons. First, The Price is Better than many of the gloves mentioned above. All gloves eventually hit the Crapper ( Blow out, Worn out, Waterproofing gone, etc.), meaning having to spend less on a pair is great. I have found the Seth Gloves to have the poorest construction. I have only managed to get 3/4 of a season out of both pairs of Seth's iv'e owned. Second, The fit is better out of the box, Meaning no break-in period. Just throw some Glove conditioner (provided in the small pouch) on them, and your golden. Third, Is i enjoy the shorter cuff, or Gauntlet on these better than other models as i like to have my gloves under my jacket cuffs. And they aren't super bulky like other models. granted they are not as warm because of that, but a pair of liners should take care of that no problem. My second Recommendation would be the Vertical Cut glove for the people that tend to have colder hands, If youre not keen on liners. I hope this helps anyone looking for new gloves.

Decent, Not great!

Hestra Seth Morrison Pro Glove

Hestra Seth Morrison Pro Glove

Rating for this product: 3 March 20, 2011

I bought these on close-out last year. I have ridden in them probably 20 days or so, thus far. Had I not purchased these for such a good deal, I would have saved my pocket book, and gone with the ski-cross instead. The ski-cross or vertical cut gloves provide the same coverage and protection, for less cost. The zipper is broken again on the right glove, which isn't that huge of a deal, but I figured after sending it back to the warranty dept. once, I wouldn't have another problem with the same zipper. the Right index and middle finger have begun to blow out also. I think a $50 price tag would be more reasonable, considering I have NEVER gotten more than 1 season out of ANY Hestra glove with the exception of the vertical cuts ( Which are on the way out this being the second season). My final verdict is to just buy 1 pair of them at clearance, Or buy Black Diamond, or Kincos!

Hestra Vertical Cut Freeride Glove

Hestra Vertical Cut Freeride Glove

Rating for this product: 4 March 20, 2011

I think of all of the Hestra Gloves, These are the ones i like best. But I think the price tag is still high for just a pair of gloves. They still break down, and rip...

Great PAD!

Big Agnes Dual Core Sleeping Pad - Rectangular

Big Agnes Dual Core Sleeping Pad - Rectangular

Rating for this product: 5 September 20, 2010

Awesome. This Pad is absolutely Awesome. After using the Thermarest stuff for as long as i could remember, I desided to switch it up this year, when i needed to replace my pad. I Stumbled across this pad at the Big Agnes Store here in town. I couldnt pass it up, and have Love it since. Its nearly TWICE as thick as the Thickest Thermarest pad! and WAY WARMER! I cant say enough good Things about the Big Agnes Products. I have slowly been replacing camping and backpacking stuff over the years with Big Agnes stuff, and have yet to be disappointed. Every Item Has been great, and very Durable, The pad included. I will never go back to a Thermarest!

Volkl Gotama Ski

Volkl Gotama Ski

Rating for this product: 5 September 16, 2010

I picked up a pair of these in the middle of last season. My first impression was that they are gonna be just OK. Wow, i was impressed. These Skis rock. They definitely love being in the powder and do well in chop also. They tend to plane out better at higher speeds, and handle very nice going faster also. I didnt experience any hookiness or instability either. These skis are definitely an upgrade form the previous years gotamas. there faster, fatter, more playful, and more fun overall. I would highly recommend these to someone lookig for a mid 100 waisted ski that rips.

Pieps DSP Advanced Smart Transmitter

Rating for this product: 5 August 31, 2010

This is an awesome beacon. It is fast, little to no spiking. It can locate multiple victims as well. I have also used all the other digital triple antennas on the market, and the DSP is one of the best. Also the Ortovox S1 or the D3 are great products as well.

Rating for this product: 4 August 30, 2010

I Use these and The Smith I/O as My two favorite goggles. The Lens choices with oakley are unparallel. Unfortunately the I/O Lens changes out alot easier, so i gave the Crowbars a 4 star for that. Otherwise, A great Goggle, I have never had fogging issues with, Fits awesome on helmets, and has a variety of Colors and Lenses, Or you can Custom some on the Oakley Website

Ortovox S1 Avalanche Transceiver

Ortovox S1 Avalanche Transceiver

Rating for this product: 4 April 13, 2010

This is a great beacon. great. I have used this among other pieps and bca beacons. It is very easy to use, minimal spiking, easy to use, even for beginners , multiple burial locators. Unfortunately it cost a bit more, and other beacons with triple antennas are out for 100 dollars less. My recommendations would be the BCA tracker 2 or the Pieps dsp. Save the difference in money for a new pair of skins or avalung!

Black Diamond Covert Avalung Winter Pack - 1343-1953cu in

Rating for this product: 4 April 13, 2010

This is my second year with this bag. It is holding up very well. minor scuff and 1 small tear. Holds lots of gear. or only bare minimum. The nice thing is the compression straps if needed to tighten it up a bit. Not a fan of the older style ski carry. the new ones are better. My only other gripe is the main pocket only has 1 small pocket. it works well for sunglasses and snacks, but needs more organization pockets. otherwise its a 5 star

Rating for this product: 4 October 31, 2009

These boots are sick. i actually just bought these this year, and have ridden them a couple times. coming from the rampages, these are a way better boot. the new ratchet strap is great. tighten them for pow with stiffer tounges, or loosen them with the soft tounges for park.the colors are also way better than the rasta. dont get me wrong the rasta ones are a cool idea, the just look alot different in real life, not the pics

Scarpa T-Race Telemark Ski Boot

Rating for this product: 5 October 31, 2009

If scarpa boots fit your feet, just buy these! I went from a pair of t3s to these. and there great, even for hiking. Most people i spoke with about these were sceptical about the lack of a walk mode, but ive never had issues. great control, powerful, just stiff enough, oh and with the intuition liners, they snoggle your feet like slippers. and for you ladies out there, my wife rides these also.
