Sweet Goggles!!

Scott Fix Goggle

Scott Fix Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 December 25, 2011

I'm extremely pleased with these goggles. I finally found a goggle with a PERFECT fit on my face, excellent peripheral vision, good looks, and a great all-around lens tint. No fogging, even in nasty conditions. Definitely worth the money (I got mine for less than $40 - a closeout of last year's model). Mine have the lighter Natural Light lens - excellent vision & contrast from bright sunlight to low-light/snowing conditions. I may get the light orange Illuminator or yellow lenses for extremely flat light, but the one I've got work pretty well in most conditions.
A much better value than the overpriced Oakley models out there & better quality than any Smith or Spy goggle I've tried. Get 'em, you won't be disappointed!

Excellent Winter Soft Shell!

Stoic Welder Hi Softshell Jacket - Men's

Stoic Welder Hi Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 3, 2011

I've got last year's model. As with all Stoic outerwear, it's made for tall, slim guys like me. Close, athletic fit with very long sleeves & enough length to go a bit lower than my waist. I'm a lanky 6'5", 215 lbs & the XL fits like it was custom made for me. I can fit a lightweight fleece shirt underneath for really cold temps, but I haven't had to deal with that yet - the jacket is very warm for it's weight. Breathability is good. Depending upon your activity level & wind conditions, it's comfortable from about 50 degrees to around 15 degrees. It's got pit zips with mesh backing to keep snow out of your pits if you take a digger while surfing pow. (IMO, the jacket is a bit too short to use for skiing - it doesn't have a powder skirt like the Bombshell).
It's windproof & water resistant (good for dry Rockies snow, but I wouldn't wear it out in more than a light drizzle) and the soft fleece lining is warm & buttery! It's got pockets for all your gear & an excellent hood that cinches down very effectively to keep your dome warm in cold, blustery conditions - much warmer than a just beanie.
This has become my go-to piece of winter outerwear - I'm selling my Patagonia R4 jacket because this fits me better and is much more versatile.

The North Face Venture Jacket - Men's

August 31, 2011

TNF's detailing & lifetime warrantee!
I had a pair of TNF ski pants I wore for about 10 years before the waterproof inner lining started to break down & leak. I sent 'em back & TNF refunded 100% of my original purchase price since they didn't make the pant anymore. Awesome customer service!
BTW - I also have a Venture jacket & consider it the best bang-for-the-buck rain shell out there (if purchased on sale). Great fit & detailing, dead waterproof & impressively breathable. I like the gridded interior - it keeps the inside from feeling slimy or clammy when you're working hard.

Full Tilt Konflict Ski Boot - Men's

October 4, 2009

Full Tilt uses swappable plastic inserts at the hinge point to adjust canting. I think the second set of inserts (that come w/ the boots) allow you to add 2-3 degrees of cant.
