Very good but...

La Sportiva Testarossa Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Testarossa Climbing Shoe

... a bit too downturned to my taste. I like the Miura VS way better than these. I got them in the same size as the VS but they felt more tight. I should have probably sized up by a half instead.

Stoic Merino Crew Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Stoic Merino Crew Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 4, 2009

Got two of these on SAC too for half the price. I'm 6'3" and weight 172lbs: M fits perfectly.
They are very comfortable, long sleeves with nice thumb holes, good length looks awesome.
I am definitely going to use them for snowboarding and climbing this winter. Merino wool is the bomb and keep your nasty smells away from your peers :)

Arc'teryx Rho AR Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Arc'teryx Rho AR Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 29, 2009

Just got one of these from SAC in size M and I'm 6'3" tall and weight 170lbs. The fit is pretty perfect except probably length wise it could have been slightly longer.
The sleeves are long enough for my long arms which is nice and it is a bit stretchy which is perfect to ski/climb with.

Stoic Tour Softshell Pant - Women's

Stoic Tour Softshell Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 29, 2009

I got a pair of these for my wife after getting one for me (male version though) and they fit her perfectly. We were a bit worried they were going to be too big but XS is perfect for her. She usually wears XS. They could have been a bit tighter at the legs because they're very stretchy but it's fine like that too.

Can't wait to try them out on the slopes

Stoic Tour Softshell Pant - Men's

Stoic Tour Softshell Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

I just got those on SAC a week ago and tried them on as soon as they got in: Perfect fit and my wife said they're a very good fit. I usually wear 32 size pants and I got a M. They fit perfectly and going with a L would have been way too big for sure, especially that they are stretchable.
They seem quite warm for just a softshell due to the micro fleece which is nice for skiing. I just can't wait for the season to start now!!!

October 27, 2009

Just got those on SAC and I think M would be good for ya: I size 32 and am 6'3" tall and M fits me perfectly.
They pretty much fit the same as Prana's pants.

Nice draw

Mad Rock Ultralight Quickdraw

Mad Rock Ultralight Quickdraw

Rating for this product: 5 October 19, 2009

Super light, wire gates, low price, nothing to complain about.

Gotta couple them with longer ones because 10cm is a bit short for overhung routes.

Metolius Ropemaster Bag - 1224cu in

Metolius Ropemaster Bag - 1224cu in

Rating for this product: 5 September 12, 2009

This rope bag is excellent: It has a huge tarp, is easy to handle for packing and tightening up the rope.
It fits my 70m rope perfectly and when all tightened up, takes up no space at all.

I was worried about the shoulder strap but it's actually ok.

Thule Universal Flat Top 4 w/Locks

August 17, 2009

Does anyone know if this can fit 4 snowboards (snowboards put together kinda like skis) let say if you have a lot of clearance between the roof and the boards?

Stoked that I got 2 of these

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 14, 2009

These shirts are the bomb: Lightweight, contain the odor, stretchy, athletic fit, and nice goat logo again, hehe.
I got a pair of these about a month ago and use them any time I go climbing indoor or outdoor. They are so light I feel like I am climbing shirtless.
Sizingwise, I am 6'3" and weight 170lbs so athletic built. So I got the medium size and it's perfect. I am so happy I didn't get the large like some people mentioned in the reviews, it would have been way too loose/big for me. I agree it is a bit tight at the armpits, but I don't feel it anymore so I don't know if it is because they stretch a bit or because I just got used to it. But it doesn't bother me at all.

Backcountry.com Klean Kanteen Powder-Coated Bottle - 40oz

Rating for this product: 5 August 14, 2009

This bottle is perfect for daytrip with 40oz of water, it'll quench your thirst! I usually use it whenever I go climbing for a day and I do not need to get anymore fluid in.
It also looks great, the goat sign is always a plus. Got lots of compliment on it, the bomb!

Good draws

Black Diamond QuickWire Quickpack Quickdraws

Black Diamond QuickWire Quickpack Quickdraws

Rating for this product: 4 August 12, 2009

Good and solid draws. I took a 20 foot fall with one of them and it still looks like new expect for the little scratches from the friction with the bolt.
Wiregates are the way to go for sure, light, easy to clip, and dont get knocked opened. Too bad the bolt biner is not wiregate too.
These draws are good enough for any sport routes, no need for these fancy petzl stuff...

Good deal

Metolius Inferno Wire-Gate Quickdraw - 5 pack

Metolius Inferno Wire-Gate Quickdraw - 5 pack

Rating for this product: 4 August 12, 2009

These draws are a pretty cool deal for the price: Light, solid and long enough. Took some fall on them and they held :)
The major drawback is that there is no rubber to prevent the biner to flip. This is very annoying especially when about to clip from a slopper or crimper.

Stoked!

Backcountry.com Shift Welder Hoody - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 10, 2009

This jacket is the bomb. It is very light, fit perfectly, good pockets and hood. I am 6'3", weight about 170lbs and I got the L so I can fit some layers under it when I go bombing down the slopes or climbing during colder weather. If you don't care so much about layering up, get M.
I have to say that the double zipper is a bit a pain, but just need to get used to it.

Good Venom!

La Sportiva Venom Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Venom Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 July 8, 2009

Venoms are pretty good shoes, very curved and edgy. Putting them on at first can be a pain especially if you sized way down. But it gets better.
I normally wear 10.5 shoes (street size) and I sized down to 42 for these ones, same as my Miura VS. Feels the same too.
The heel hook of the Miura VS is better than this one. But it's still good, just gotta be a bit more careful about slipping off.

La Sportiva Miura VS Climbing Shoe

June 3, 2009

Agree with Jeremy, they stretch a bit. I usually wear 44 for street shoes and I got 2 pairs of 42.
At the beginning they were painful but now they're totally fine. I might bump up to 42.5 for outdoors though so I don't have to take them off after each climbs.

Solid and perfect fit

Thule Load Bar Pair

Thule Load Bar Pair

Rating for this product: 5 May 22, 2009

The 50 inch bars fit my Prius perfectly and they are very solid. The maximum load is like 165lbs which is way more than I will ever need to put on the roof of my car.
They do generate noises though once you drive faster than 30mph. So you can either go with fairing (not cheap) or wrap a bungee cord around them a couple of times.

Perfect fit for the Prius

Thule Fit Kits - set of 4

Thule Fit Kits - set of 4

Rating for this product: 5 May 22, 2009

The 2142 fit kit is perfect for the Prius and is coated with some weird plastic paint so that it does not scratch your car.
The installation takes a bit of time to get everything figured out but once you are there, it is great and fits perfectly.
As mentioned by other reviews, the noise starts at about 25-30mph especially when it is windy out there. And it peaks at about 60mph and does not really get louder. I read online you can use bungee cord wrapped around the bars a couple of time to get rid of the noise instead of investing into a fairing which is not cheap. I will give it a shot soon.

Best climbing pants ever!

prAna Stretch Zion Pant - Men's

prAna Stretch Zion Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 8, 2009

These pants are the BOMB. I got 3 different colors and they all look good (black, steel, and earth). They are made of spandex so they stretch a bit when you need them to on those high step or split moves.
I wear pants size 32, am 6 feet 3 tall and weight 175lbs, and I got M for all of them: The fit is very nice.
They are also very durable: I have been climbing 3 times a week with them indoors or outdoors and have not seen a hole at all.

Starting shoes

Evolv Defy Climbing Shoe

Evolv Defy Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 3 May 8, 2009

These shoes do the job for learning or just cruise climbing. Pretty flat, no edge, could be stickier but comfy and a good value for the money.
The low price makes it debatable whether or not you would want to ever resole them :)
Recommended for beginners.

Good ride

Ride Yukon Snowboard - Wide

Ride Yukon Snowboard - Wide

Rating for this product: 4 May 5, 2009

I am 6 foot 3 tall, weight 175lbs (10.5 boot size) and got the 159 version. I should have probably gotten the 164 or 168 for better runs during icy conditions but it's still decent.
This board is so wide I float over powder. I did a lot of powder days in Kirkwood this season, often with more than 1-2 feet of snow and once I got enough momentum, I was flying :)
On groomers, this baby is almost pretty amazing, nothing to complain about there.
I actually do not think this board is that stiff, I tried other ones before and I was actually surprised that this one has more flex.

Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Bud Headphones

Rating for this product: 4 May 5, 2009

These things look really cool and they are indeed. The sound quality is pretty good, I was listening to some music this morning from my iPhone and it was great, good insolation for sure. The inline volume control is good too when you need to switch off the sound quickly for any type of interaction.
The only thing is that my ear canals are a bit small and so after a while, it kinda hurts a bit. But nothing major...

Backcountry.com Shift Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2009

I got this shell on SAC for half price! I was amazed by the style and the nice color of carbon. It fits me well although I could go for a M: I am 6 foot 3 tall, weight 175lbs and I got a L.
I really love the fact that this jacket stretches and that it is hecka light. The side pockets are very convenient too added that they have long zippers. There is an internal pocket you can use to stash anything you need to.

Black Diamond ATC-XP

Black Diamond ATC-XP

Rating for this product: 4 May 4, 2009

This ATC is very solid, feels very durable and safe. 10+mm ropes go through easily and the teeth are a nice added friction when rappelling or belaying someone down.
On the other hand, it's a bit big compared to the others.

Best shoes ever

La Sportiva Miura VS Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Miura VS Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2009

These climbing shoes are the best! They edge like nothing else, very aggressive and won't let you down on tiny chips.
I wear 44.5 regularly (street shoes) and I got 42. They used to kill my feet at the beginning, I could barely climb the first couple times I went on the wall w/ them. But now they stretched a bit and they're fine. I still can't walk around with them for too long though. Each session takes a bit of easing in. I would go for the 42.5 for my next pair.

Light and warm

DAKINE Titan Mittens

DAKINE Titan Mittens

Rating for this product: 5 March 17, 2009

These mittens are so light and warm, it's not even funny. I also love the gauntlet aspect of it since I usually put them above my jacket.
Liners are mittens too but haven't used them yet since the temps were in the high 30s.
