Armada JJ Ski

October 14, 2011

I'm on the fence between a JJ and BD AMPerage ... I'm 5'11", 155lbs, I consider myself Advanced Intermediate (Snowboard convert) ... I mostly ski on Coomback 175 BC and resort ... looking for a resort only powder and fun skis for pretty much everywhere around the mountain when it snowed (no park, no big jumps, etc..) ... I'm skiing Eastern Canadian Rockies.... Any recommendation on sizing ? Thx a lot!!!!

Black Diamond Kilowatt Ski

October 18, 2009

I'm looking at buying these as my goto skis for about 90% Resort / 10% Sidecountry ... I would mount these with Marker Baron ... I'm an intermediate skier 5' 9" and 150lbs... I was wondering if I should go with a 165 or 175? It will be skied in Continental snowpack. Is it a good choice? any other suggestion ? Maybe something like a BD Havoc (165/175) or G3 Spitfire (170) might be better suited ?... Thanks !!!!

Black Diamond Kilowatt Ski

March 9, 2009

Hi, looking for advice here ... I'm an intermediate skier (Coming from 15+ years of boarding), and I'm 5'9" and 150lbs, and looking for a quiver of one ski that I could grow with, that would be use 100% of the time in the continental snowpack. I would use it 90% resort / 10% short slackcountry trips. I would mount these with a Marker Baron (Or Duke) Does this ski would fit the bill? If yes, what lenght do you recommend? Thanks !!!!

Looking for taut pants for your BC use ? You are looking at the right ones.

Patagonia Primo Flash Pant - Men's

Patagonia Primo Flash Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 18, 2007

What else to say, these pants are simply awesome. The look and feel is pretty bomber. They don't have too much on them, and their minimalist design is what I appreciate. I used them in intense cold & windy conditions to warm & wet snow, and I'm still impress every time I use them. Those pants won't let you down, you can count on them, and so is Patagonia's reputation for backing up their products. I really like the design of the gaiter, and the cuff of the pants and they are VERY lightweight. I do ski & snowboard with them, and they are PERFECT for both. My only suggestion is to have a higher waist line/lower crutch, more like the Light Smoke Flash pants. Sometime they almost feel like a pair of low rise pants. I gave them a 5 stars for their design and construction, but If you look for a higher waist pants, maybe the light smoke flash might suite you better, but other than that, they are the real deal. Only pants that are in the same league in my opinion, for both durability and design, are the Arc'Teryx Sidewinder SV.

A Parka that will NEVER let you down!

Patagonia DAS Parka - Men's

Patagonia DAS Parka - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 18, 2007

Compare to most folks who buy this Parka, I don't use it for climbing, this is my goto jacket for Backcountry skiing and Snowboarding when the weather turns nasty. You can count on it when it's cold & windy on those ridges before you are ready to drop in, or for the final hike, when the wind is blowing so hard that you feel your blood will freeze instantly. For a jacket this warm, it's super light, packs fairly well in the included stuff bag. It's well sized for an over parka, so buy the same size as usual, it will fit over your shell & layers. The only thing I don't like to much is the hood design, as when you don't use it, it's kind of in the way, I would have like a different neck design for this hood, something less constricting when not used, but other than that, this parka will keep you toasty when needed!
