Great Pants

The North Face Paramount Convertible Pant - Men's

The North Face Paramount Convertible Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 1, 2008

I bought these for hiking in the Adirondacks where it is often wet conditions. These pants are light and comfortable and reasonably warm on chilly nights. Nice pockets. The belt works well also. Attaching the legs is a pain while wearing the pants - you have to take them off to work the zippers easily. My size is 34W x 32L. I bought regular medium per the chart and had to exchange them for regular large. These fit much better.

Reliable and easy to use

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot

Rating for this product: 4 September 20, 2007

I used this stove for a 5-day backpacking trip in the Adirondacks.
PROs:
Built-in igniter works EVERY time.
Heats up fast due to insulated pot.
Light weight and self contained.
CONs:
It needs a metal lid, not plastic.
Larger fuel cans don't fit inside for storage.
The pot support (thing with teeth) does not fit easily into the stove for storage.
All in all its a good stove for light camping.

It either works or it doesn't!

Bear Vault BV400 Bear Resistant Food Canister.

Bear Vault BV400 Bear Resistant Food Canister.

Rating for this product: 5 September 20, 2007

It works. Lid is easy to use and seals well enough. Someone should figure out a shape for these things that keeps bears out but also fits better into a backpack. I wish they didn't cost so much. I think someone is making a killing on these cans!

Don't get these for Jet-Boil System!

Brunton Bruntane Canister

Brunton Bruntane Canister

Rating for this product: 3 September 20, 2007

These canisters will work with the Jetboil Group cooking system, but will not fit into the pot for storage. The pictured pot shows the smaller canisters.

Get these if you have to cook for a larger group of people and need the extra fuel capacity.

Tastes good but a lot of trouble to fix.

AlpineAire Mashed Potatoes and Country Gravy with Turkey

AlpineAire Mashed Potatoes and Country Gravy with Turkey

Rating for this product: 3 September 20, 2007

These are pretty tasty when prepared per directions. You have to mix the gravy and potatoes separately and then pour the gravy onto the taters. This is a pain if your traveling light and have only one pot. Really does serve two!
