Awesome pants

Planet Earth Division Solid Pant - Men's

Planet Earth Division Solid Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 7, 2010

My inner hippie really loves these pants for their 100% recycled construction. The fit is pretty good, except I returned the large for an extra-large. The large was a little tight in the waist and crotch, but nearly perfect in the length. I’m 6’2, 230 and typically go with a large in ski/snowboard pants. Lots of pockets. My only grip would be the pants do not breath as well as I wanted.

Awesome shoes

DC Net Skate Shoe - Men's

DC Net Skate Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 7, 2010

I picked these up as my casual day to day shoes. Nothing fancy, just a simple skate shoe that doesn’t glow in the dark or have eye blinding color. The color and look is accurate to the pic online and it is true to size too.

Awesome Gloves

Marmot Work Glove

Marmot Work Glove

Rating for this product: 4 February 22, 2010

I picked these to replace the pair I left on the top of my car. The old pair was last year’s Work glove and frankly I liked the older style better. The differences are subtle, but this is still the best pair of ski gloves out there. Plenty warm, waterproof and durable. My only grips are the gauntlets are little awkward because they are too small to fit over most jacket cuffs and almost too big to fit under.

Scott P4 Ski

February 22, 2010

What is the verdict on groomers? If it has been few days since a decent storm, I’m likely to do high-speed laps on groomers all day. Will the P4’s behave themselves?

Awesome Goggles

Smith Prodigy Goggle

Smith Prodigy Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 February 22, 2010

I picked up the Prodigy to reply my aging Phonemes. I was a huge Phoneme fan, but I have to say the Prodigy is my new favorite. I wear them with the Holt helmet and the overall fit between the Phoneme and Prodigy is about the same. The difference really comes from the pressure on my nose. I have a big dome and a big nose so nearly every pair of goggles I’ve owned puts pressure on my nose. I can still feel the pressure with the Prodigy, but it is much less than anything else I’ve worn. The range of view is a little broader with the Prodigy, but not significantly. Overall a great goggle for those of us who have a less then petite face.

Awesome mid-layer

Patagonia R1 Fleece Pullover - Men's

Patagonia R1 Fleece Pullover - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 22, 2010

I wear this as a mid-layer over a lightweight merino wool top and it does an awesome job of temp regulation. I’ve worn it skiing in temp ranges from single digits to upper 30’s and felt comfy the whole time. The weight was much lighter than I expected, which was nice surprise since I was not sure if this would be too bulky as a mid-layer. The size is pretty true. I picked up a large and an extra-large to see where the best fit would be. I’m 6’2, 220 and the large was okay in the arm length, but tight across the chest and a little short in overall length. The extra-large is on par with other XL’s from Patagonia. Great layer all around.

Awesome base layer

SmartWool NTS Midweight Bottom - Men's

SmartWool NTS Midweight Bottom - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 22, 2010

I wear these under a basic shell pant and they are perfect from single digits to spring skiing. I’ve used synthetic base layers for years, but none of them have performed as well as SmartWool’s products. They regulate temperature well, the fit is true to the sizing, and stay comfy all day.

Horny Toad Lloyd Button-Down Long-Sleeve Shirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 April 23, 2009

I like this shirt, but the sizing is less then perfect. I ordered an XL, but it’s a snug fit right out of the packaging. Plus after a quick wash and dry the shirt went down about a half size.

Great ski, but maybe not a one to rule them all…

Liberty Helix Alpine Ski

Liberty Helix Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 4 April 14, 2009

First trip out with 13 inches new on top of a really soft base thanks to some of the greatest spring storms ever. Loved them in the powder. They felt light, quick and could turn effortlessly at any speed even after the snow was getting tracked out. Next time out was with only about 3 inches of new snow, but the crud was still a lot of fun on these skis. My only compliant was on groomers. If your not at mach 2 arching big GS turns, these skis will really make you work for your turns. Slow speed, short turns are not what the Helix likes to do. You can muscle them around, but they bite back the whole time. I'm keeping these for powder days, but without a fair amount new snow I'll be back on my Scott Mission's.

Awesome

Skullcandy Chops Earbud Headphones

Skullcandy Chops Earbud Headphones

Rating for this product: 5 March 27, 2009

These earbuds are awesome. They don’t actually go in your ear like the smoking buds, which I prefer because it is more comfy if you have them on for a while. Good adjustments for little ears to big dumbo’s like mine. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a pair for the gym, running, or whatever.

I like them much

Simple EcoS Hemp Shoe - Men's

Simple EcoS Hemp Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 16, 2009

Kool shoes. They feel pretty good right out of the box. They run a little narrow, but it feels like they will probably stretch into a very comfy shoe. I love the recycled tire soles and the smell is even better. Be forewarned though, whatever tires these soles used to be they are balder, then bald. Be careful because this shoe is the opposite of traction, but so what? I didn't by these shoes to scale an exposed ridge line.

Awesome Pants

Marmot Cargo Pant - Men's

Marmot Cargo Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 9, 2009

Sweet pants. They run a little big. I ordered an XL, but exchanged them for a L. I'm 6'2", 230 and usually wear an XL in everything, but the L fits perfectly. I thought the knee pads were useless because they hit about mid-shin, so I just took them out.

Too small

Backcountry.com The Goat Fleece Beanie

Backcountry.com The Goat Fleece Beanie

Rating for this product: 2 October 10, 2008

I'm sure this is a very good hat if you have a small head. I don't have a small head so I thought it sucked. Excluding the fact that it didn't fit, it was light, soft and well constructed.

Smith Phenom Spherical Series Goggles - Mirror Lens

Smith Phenom Spherical Series Goggles - Mirror Lens

Rating for this product: 4 August 28, 2008

I usually think Smith goggles are too small and truth be told I'd like the Phenom to be a spot larger. However, I picked up the Holt helmet too and the combined fit is awesome.
