All around awesome bag, warm, soft, easy zippers, long for this 5'11" body. I could zip it right up and roll over without feeling like the bag was then out of place. Love it. My wife got the woman's version. We used em in Peru down to 0degC.

Merrell Switchback Gore-Tex Backpacking Boot - Men's

Merrell Switchback Gore-Tex Backpacking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 February 23, 2009

Great fit by getting 10 versus my foot size of 9 to 9.5. Broken in right from the box. Felt great on the rocks once I adjusted to the feedback from the footbed. Interesting to trust them to stick while not actually "feeling" my foot flex around a foothold for example while hopping creeks. Warm, comfy and not one hot spot from friction. The heel liner of slippery nylon like stuff is awesome.

Now on the other side of the equation, after 1 year they are basically shot. The lace rings(eyes) are popping off(3 so far), the leather is breaking down, the soles wore quickly approaching bald. The waterproof rating is not quite accurate. The first trip for these beautiful boots was 31 days in Peru. During long days of walking, buses and airports they were next to slippers for comfort. However, once we hit the hard trail which was 7 days of Inca stone in January 5deg rain and mud I was envious of my wife's North Face choice which had water beadng off of it from day one til now...incredible. NOw I dont mean that these were terrible in the water however once the toes got some flex wrinkles in the leather, they started to become damp. I was saved from total discomfort by proper socks and the copious quantities of Goreex that Merrell uses.
All in all, I hammered these boots from Cayman Islands jogging to break em in, to Ince mud and on to a stint as work boots and then the ravages of Nova Scotia winter.

I rate em super high on performance and comfort....and low low on durability...$160 should get me boots that stick around for 3yrs +

Petzl Zipka Headlamp

Petzl Zipka Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 October 8, 2007

Nice product out of the package, very light and compact. It actually has basically no weight so if you hold 3 AAA batteries in your hand, that is what the strapped on weight will be. My wife went running with it on her forehead last nite with no issues of slippage or discomfort. We are ordering 4 more as spares.
