Overall great for the price. Very confortable. Fits perfectly, I would like the hood to be doubled, but nothing bad to say against. I liked it and buy another one after one weak wearing the first.

MSR Alpine Folding Utensils

MSR Alpine Folding Utensils

Rating for this product: 5 May 16, 2009

Good tool, as mention in other reviews, it's very handly to turn eggs (thin flat part). I used it frequently at home when my regular one is dirty. Because I dont use plastic ustensils this prevent me from scratching my t-fal cookware. Don't get the whole set as the big spoon is useless and the use strainer may be somehow hazardous.

Stainless instead of plastic

MSR Alpine Stainless Steel Plate

MSR Alpine Stainless Steel Plate

Rating for this product: 4 May 16, 2009

Same as the bowl. Handle carefuly when fill with hot content. Spend 2 extra $ to get stainless (or mutch on titanium) instead choosing plastic like material. It won't break/scratch and this is a much cleaner material (especialy to clean fatty rests). Normaly I just the bowl but this is good for confort camping.

Simple, Great value for $

Therm-a-Rest Ridge Rest Sleeping Pad

Therm-a-Rest Ridge Rest Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 5 May 16, 2009

Considerating the price (30$) I think you can't have something better. Yes it tooks some volume but if you pack over/under your bag this should not be a consideration (it's very light). Same R value that some inflated models that cost 2 to 3x the price. I still haven't figure how to break that piece of equipement. Maybe if i achieve i might be able to get the originals qualitys by fixing with duct tape (won't be as easy with inflated ones!). If you handle easily the kind of confort provided by foam pads you might be very happy whit this one or it can serve you well as a second winter pad. If you aren't a dwarf/gnome, I will go for long model for maximum confort/ versality.

The North Face Dogpatch Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 15, 2009

Nice light confortable pants. I like the fitting not too baggy but not too tight. Looks pretty nice, possible to wear in almost any activity(except maybe toxedo party), relax look but classi. For 35$ great price/value ratio. I will buy another pair. Shrink to 1-2 sizes lower when washed hot water first time. I 160lbs 5''11-6'' and i wear 32 long (hot water wash).

Arc'teryx Outline T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 15, 2009

Nice shirt athletic fit, i'm 160lbs, 5pi11/6pi, med fits perfect for me. Very confortable, feels thin but durable. Down point : Pricy for a t-shirt (like all others arcteryx product), but pretty happy that mine was made in north america (USA)! Unfortunatly that probably changed...

Ocean Minded Southern Baja Sandal - Men's

Ocean Minded Southern Baja Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 15, 2009

Confortable, maybe a bit pricy (leather sandals). They may look used quickly (dirty shape of the foot print) but they are durable. Looks pretty good. I would buy that product again if it breaks.

Marmot Alpinist X Jacket - Men's

May 11, 2009

Will this fit me (small)?
I'm 5''11, 160 lbs. I own a medium alpha sv (xcr) but i found it too baggy for summer activities (like only t-shirt under or light polar). I'm looking for a summer (fall/spring) shell to keep for many years. Is this a choice?
Thanks

Super Pants

Arc'teryx Minuteman Pant - Men's

Arc'teryx Minuteman Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2009

I use those pants for ski and snowshoeing (+ alpha sv). They are light, comfortable and elements proof. It let me choose the appropriate underlaying depending the activity and temperature. Unlike new version of most Arcteryx shell pants, they don't unzip all leg long (I don't like zips all leg long). Finally they are made in Canada.

Simplicity + Quality = Good Stuff

MSR Lightning Ascent Snowshoe

MSR Lightning Ascent Snowshoe

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2009

These are good snowshoes (made in USA). Simple design, quality materials, light. The frame perform well on steep slopes and are versatile. You might have some concerns about the bindings that are somewhat archaic, but the are easy to use and i never had problems with, only make sure you have good boots (got the old version with only 2 front straps). The painting scales with use, but who care. Highly recommended. I'm 6" 155lbs and got 25".

MSR Alpine Stainless Steel Bowl

MSR Alpine Stainless Steel Bowl

Rating for this product: 4 February 20, 2009

It's a good bowl, cheap and i haven't figure how to break it in 6 years. More durable and easy to clean than plastic. Handle with care because it become very hot when you fill it with hot content.

Nalgene Wide Mouth Tritan Bottle - 32oz

Nalgene Wide Mouth Tritan Bottle - 32oz

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2009

This is unbreakable. The marks are very useful to measure volume while cooking. Holds well all contents from rhum and coke to solid food (water too). This model (1l with wide opening) is the most versatile and easy to clean. A camping classic.

Good pack

Osprey Packs Exposure 36 Backpack - 2400cu in

Osprey Packs Exposure 36 Backpack - 2400cu in

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2009

I got this pack (new) for only 89$ CDN. I like the shape : long and close from your back. Makes it very comfortable. It's enough for 2-3 overnight summer hikes if you pack light and can share things such as cookware. If you exceed a bit, you will still be able to attach thing on in many ways. I am concern about the durability of the material use (actually no problem with but feels thin). But this may be the counter part of a light pack. For the price this is a great med pack.

one purpose stove

MSR XGK EX Multi-Fuel Stove

MSR XGK EX Multi-Fuel Stove

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2009

This stove is great for winter camping. It will melt snow or boil water quickly (cooks kraft diner too!). For fancy summer cooking, you may consider an other option if you plan to slow cook while chatting around. In fact, I found it sounding like a Boeing engine and don't count on the simmer capability (there is no). The leg's design the best I have seen so far. It took me about 3 backyard try to get use to the stove. Up to now I only use it with naphtha. Worth the price if you plan to keep it for long time. I gave five stars considering it's a one purpose stove.

Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 18, 2009

Got the old gore-tex XCR model. Simple design, no useless things. Very durable. Fits perfectly, allows freedom of movements. Great protection, hood is amazing and i like the point it makes one with the jacket. I enjoy wearing it in snow storms. The only down point is price.

Good investment

Arc'teryx Bora 65 Backpack – 3720-4330cu in

Arc'teryx Bora 65 Backpack – 3720-4330cu in

Rating for this product: 5 February 18, 2009

Got this pack 3 year ago. Use it for for backpacking, traveling and snowshoeing. It's a robust bag and very comfortable. I like the slim long design (allows me to fit a pair of fins with sleeping bag compartment closed). The only thing i was disappoint of was the removable top that can be use as an independent bag : it doesn't work well for that purpose. Overall, highly recommended, worth the price.
