Good hiking shoe

Vasque Velocity VST GTX Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 14, 2008

I can't say I do any trail running, but those are the types of shoes I like to wear when hiking. I love having the goretex XCR as it proves super useful when your foot slips and you end up in a little puddle. However, I don't feel like it manages moisture inside all that well, but what fabric can when it's 90 degrees out and putting them through their paces? The break in period for these was a little longer than I would expect, but are in the sweet spot right now and I intend to keep on using them. Good if not great shoe for waterproof hiking!

Sleep Tight!

Therm-a-Rest ProLite 4 Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 5 November 6, 2008

Perfect pad, I have had mine for almost 4 years, gets better every year! I use mine inside my sleeping bacg, inside a hammock and it is great. More air, more firm....less air, less firm, however I'm feeling, that's what I get! I would not look anywhere else for a light 4 season open cell foam pad.

Saved me once already!

Six Six One Core Saver

Rating for this product: 4 November 6, 2008

Good product, my only gripe is that they give you some kidney protection, but to really save your kidneys there should be hard plastic in that area as well. I took a hard fall onto rocks from about 5-6 ft up recently and had I not worn anything I'd be in the hospital STILL, the protection on here kept my spine from getting damaged and the little bit of Kidney protection it does have saved me from internal bleeding. I also wish the chest portion had thicker plastic, but all in all, for the price and being sleeveless(big factor for me) I recommend this product to anyone. If you are not sure about the size, go bigger! The vest(if you will) kind of rides up pretty far, I'm 5'10" 175 lbs and needed the L/XL

Shades are great, cust service? ehh

Native Eyewear Dash XP Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 3 November 6, 2008

I absolutely love my dash XR's(discontinued), I've lost 2 pairs already and am on my third pair. My only issue is with Native's customer service....I was attempting to purchase replacement frames as I still had the lens pack from old shades I had lost. When they told me they couldn't do that, but they could give me the pro athlete price 'just this once' since I have onwed so many pairs, I was ecstatic, a pair of natives for $60, perfect! Well, until they kep ttelling me they were in the mail and it was all lies, when I called them out on lying to me they just said, "oh we had the wrong CC number, we'll get them out to you right away"....more lies, I never got them, that was 6 months ago. I am a sucker though, the shades fit my face so perfect I got another pair.

Perfect

Snow Peak GigaPower Stove, Titanium Auto Ignition

Rating for this product: 5 November 6, 2008

No issues whatsoever, auto ignition has worked flawlessly, super light an packable. I recommend getting the windscreen for it as well....even if it does seem sacrilige since its not Ti, but it boosts efficiency greatly.

Done Good

Granite Gear Vapor Trail Backpack - 3600cu in

Rating for this product: 4 November 6, 2008

I've used this pack now for 3 seasons of use. Has worked without a hitch for me! My only gripe is no hood on the pack, I like the hood simply for my packing method, I like to have easy access to my hammock on either the top or an outside stow pocket, this has neither. Featureless pack, but that is the point, barebones and still feels good on your back. I've loved this pack, but I am moving up another pound or 2 in weight so I can get some external pockets and organization! oh, this pack has an extremely large chute to make up for the lack of externals, this chute proves annoying when you need to see in your pack. All in all, I recommend this pack.

Great Feel

Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 19, 2006

I'm not sure where the other reviewer is getting the 'crinkly' aspect of the jacket, I never experienced that. The jackets cut and large hood are great, regarding advertised weight as noted in another review(my tag also stated 11 oz.) I think this may have been an issue before, but they are now advertising 13 oz and also found a way to get to that weight. Packs to about a softball or so size, pitzips work well, not perfect for easy access, but do their job. Would buy again

Great fit, comfortable

Arc'teryx Gothic Lightweight Gloves - Unisex

Rating for this product: 3 December 19, 2006

The cut and fit of the gloves are superb. That being said they are thinner than you may imagine, but for me suited my needs since I use them as an everyday glove and if I am walking down the street my hands are in my pockets anyway, cell phone use is easy. For whatever reason the stitching on the thumb seam for mine split wide open and I'd like to return them, but the shipping seems more than what its worth....won't be buying these again unfortunately.

Great Insulator

Arc'teryx Delta SV Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 18, 2006

I wouldn't call this a 'jacket' so much as I would call it a layer. I bought the layer with a specific use in mind, cold weather over a wool baselayer and under a windproof/waterproof shell...in this use this thing ROCKS! Keeps me very warm. For stand alone 'jacket' use, the Delta SV isn't really suited for much...in any wind it will not keep the heat in. I would really like the see the material on the outside of the neck used for the entire jacket for some wind protection, then I would wear this everyday. Although I love Arc'Teryx gear I don't believe the Delta SV is worth $200... BTW, I am 5'10' & 175lbs Large fits me perfect, keep that in mind for sizing!
