Marmot Helium Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

May 3, 2012

Couldn't find my Nalgene, but a half gallon of belly warming Jack next to it should give you a good idea. Can't wait to actually put it to the test! (The bag, that is)

So far, so good!

Mad Rock Mars Climbing Package - Men's

Mad Rock Mars Climbing Package - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 1, 2012

Picked this package up for a trip to North Wash, south of Hanksville, UT. 2 full days and 4 canyons later, it held up and was comfortable for every rappel. Haven't taken it out actually climbing yet, just on this canyoneering trip so far. Adjustable leg loops were a big selling point for me, so I can wear these with shorts while climbing or over a dry suit and any other bulk in the cold canyon waters. Biner and belay device are as good as any other and at this price, definitely a must have for any expedition that requires these goods.

Monsters, Dawg

Oakley Monster Dog Sunglasses

Oakley Monster Dog Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 5 April 18, 2012

I've got a big ol noggin with a big goofy face to accompany it, but these Monster Dogs do the trick to make it all look somewhat normal. Breathability is great during a workout in any condition and they give you great goggle-like protection without being the size of aviators. Biking, hiking, spring skiing... these are a must have.

Word has it they're good for bird hunting with Dick Cheney as well, BOOM.

Love at first step

The North Face Base Camp Sandal - Men's

The North Face Base Camp Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 18, 2012

My friend had these on a camping trip last summer and wouldn't shut up about how much he loved them and how comfy they were. I had to put his word to the test and I'm nothing short of stoked that I did! I'm about to pull the trigger on another color, as these are the most comfortable flip flops I've ever had. Only a month into wearing them, but they look like they'll hold up for the long run. I'm usually a 10.5 - 11, got the 11 in these and they're perfect.

Bottom line, getcha' some!

The Sky is the Limit!

Yakima Sky Box 18 Cargo Box

Rating for this product: 5 August 15, 2011

Well, technically 18 cubic feet is the limit... but you get the point, right? My car already looks like a box, so I decided to put another box on top. It holds everything I have ever needed it to. 5-6 Snowboards and boots in the winter, way more camping gear than you'd ever need in the summer and since my Honda Element only has 4 seats on the interior, this bad boy can be used to put an extra passenger in. I don't think Yakima would support this statement, but they sure did make enough room for it! Getcha' some!

Favorite baselayer!

Stoic Merino 150 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Stoic Merino 150 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 12, 2011

Breathable, comfortable and good looking. I've had Under Armour and Patagonia baselayers in the past, but this year I thought I'd give Stoic a try and I'll never look back. One of my favorite features are the thumbholes. It gives you that much more warmth and protection from the snow when you stick your hand in your mitt while charging the mountain. Get it!

Could use some work

Stoic Luft Down Sweater - Men's

Stoic Luft Down Sweater - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 January 12, 2011

The first month I had this jaacket i LOVED it. Lightweight, warm and at a better price than the Patagonia down sweater. However, I am starting to notice it is falling apart in a few places. In the back of the colar, the seam has started to rip and a feather or two will fall out here and again.
Also, where it has the Stoic logo on the back left of the jacket has almost completely fallen off. I used to work for Backcountry and have boasted to my new colleagues about how great the jacket is, but when the logo starts to fall off and seams start to slightly tear it doesn't look good.

Other than that it is VERY warm for the weight and I wear it as a layer under my Arc'teryx shell for snowboarding and as a casual jacket to and from work almost every day.

Sea To Summit Lightweight Dry Sack

Sea To Summit Lightweight Dry Sack

Rating for this product: 5 August 2, 2010

Just took this bag on the Subway hike in Zion National Park and put my lunch and spare clothes in there so I wouldn't have a soggy sandwich or soggy shorts. Swam through the water, my pack completely submerged and got to our dry destination to find my grub and threads as dry as they were before. I was soaked, but the goods were dry.

Osprey Packs Stratos 36 Backpack - 2100-2300cu in

Osprey Packs Stratos 36 Backpack - 2100-2300cu in

Rating for this product: 5 August 2, 2010

I just took this on a weekend trip down to Zion National Park to do the Orderville and Subway hikes. It fit everything I needed and I even had room for other peoples ropes and gear. The AirSpeed system is AWESOME and let's your back breathe while you sweat in the summer heat. Hipbelt pockets were big enought for a pair of sunglasses on one side and plenty of Cliffbars on the other side for easy access. Also a shoulder pouch the same size for anything you could think that was small. Started raining half way through the hike so the built-in rain cover was great and we had to do some swimminng so i put a 13 liter dry bag in there as well. Great pack, great weekend!

Pretty darn good

Marmot PreCip Jacket - Men's

Marmot PreCip Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 July 26, 2010

Love the jacket and how lightweight and packable it is. One thing is I wish it was a tad bit longer, but that's just how I like jackets cut. I'm 5'11 165lbs and it just barely comes a little past my belt line and if i lift my arms up it turns into a belly shirt, so next time I'll get the "tall" version

Sandal meets trail runner

Salomon Tech Amphibian 2 Shoe - Men's

Salomon Tech Amphibian 2 Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 10, 2010

I love these shoes. Used them for a 3 mile hike into some hot springs and for a week at Lake Mead so far. In Mead I actually wore them more like sandals by pushing down the heel so I could slide in and out with ease. Loved them, dried quickly and keep you feet from getting torn up if you were just to wear normal sandals like Chaco's. They look great too and I felt that the sizing was pretty true.

So far so good with this hammock. Taken it car camping and backpacking and its' worked great each time. The double is great because it's much more roomy and not that much more price wise. 2 sleeping in a hammock all night is never the best idea, but 2 people and a dog enjoyed a nap in this hammock and it was great

DAKINE Split Convertible Rolling Gear Bag - 6425cu in.

Rating for this product: 5 November 26, 2009

This bag had everything I needed. Took it on a 7 day Mexican cruise and I stuffed it with everything I could think of (from bottles to board shorts) and it took it with ease, with room to spare for some Mexican souvenirs! I loved all the zip pockets and mesh pockets inside. Definitely the best luggage I've ever had!!!!
