Five Ten Moccasym Climbing Shoe

Five Ten Moccasym Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 October 13, 2011

Great shoes, super flexible and perfect for smearing. Make sure you size down as they do stretch about a size, super comfy after they get broken in. These are my go-to gym shoes, although they're great outdoors as well- the only con is that after a long day your feet do get pretty tired cause' they're so soft.

Arc'teryx Stingray Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Stingray Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 3, 2011

I picked this up to replace a backcountry.com stoic 3.0 as my go to ski jacket. It was a good call. At first I was worried about the durability of the softshell material (especially when compared to the burliness of the stoic), but after plowing through several tree branches of varying degrees of unfriendliness its proved itself to be pretty tough. The powder skirt works well, the jacket breathes (g-tex), and of course its totally wtpf. Also, the hood does fit over a helmet. I only have two small problems with it, and they are pretty insignificant. The fuzzy fleece lining on the inside catches on wool (or anything that's not swishy), and the pit zips could use mesh to keep snow out. But yea, an awesome jacket all in all. Try and get it for cheaper than $500 and it will be even more awesome.

Black Diamond Outlaw Winter Pack - 1831-1939cu in

Black Diamond Outlaw Winter Pack - 1831-1939cu in

Rating for this product: 4 April 17, 2011

I upgraded from an older heli pro to the outlaw. Wanted A-frame ski carry and an internal frame. The frame makes the pack a lot easier to load, it hugs your back better, and it doesn't sag or move around as much as the heli pro while skiing. The avy tool pocket is awesome, easy to use and the access zippers are outside the upper compression straps so you don't have to unclip them to get at your gear. The back access zipper also comes in handy, you don't have undo the hip belt to get into the main pocket. The compressibility is another plus, 32L is pretty big for side and slackcountry when your just carrying avy gear and maybe a layer, but the straps let you compress the pack down to a good size without a problem.
