Should be a welded double layer 600d abrasion guard. You can see the seam about halfway down where the fabric changes. That is where you start to get the burlier fabric.

Black Diamond Outlaw with Avalung Pack - 1831-1939cu in

November 3, 2009

This could be problematic because the S/M is (torso size) 16"-19" and she is probably something closer to 14". Unfortunately BD doesn't make a pack specifically for smaller females (ie. smaller torso size), but you can't know what size she is unless you measure her. I am 6'2" 175lbs. and i wear anything from 18"-20". It just depends...
On that note, you could order the S/M and just return it if it doesn't fit and get a smaller pack and an Avalung sling!

These will neither fit or work with your snowboard boots. You need a non-bailer toe and heel step-in crampon. Think Black Diamond Serac Strap. You will also need a extra large spacer bar. Most crampons fit up to size 12, but size 13 will just be too long.

All i know is as far as fit the Dragons are a little narrower, barely. Other than that you may get a better toe hook out of the Jet 7's for bouldering, but that's about it. Oh, and sizing, i would size about the same as the Anasazis, maybe a 1/2-1 size smaller. Personally i would go with the Dragons. Cheers!

Black Diamond Xenos Harness

Black Diamond Xenos Harness

Rating for this product: 5 August 28, 2009

This harness is great! I've had this the last few weeks and it is great for sport and trad. Will be using it in a couple months for ice, but i am sure it will perform flawlessly. It is incredibly comfortable and comes with an ice clipper! The clipper slots are positioned great, gear loops are perfect, and the adjustable buckles allowed me to move from my Petzl over to BD. I do wish the waist had double buckles, but my waist size has the belay loop centered anyway. Highly suggest this for any climber.

Not in the description, but 1 Ice Clipper IS included!

Read the second part of the response. It is at the discretion of the dealer, BC.com, to say how long they will honor that. After that it is left up to Lowe Alpine itself...you would have to deal with them. Plus, if you read that to begin with, and believed it, why the question?!

Lowe Alpine Fall Line 35 Backpack - 2100cu in

June 26, 2009

Where does it say lifetime? It only says warrantied against manufacturer defects,

"The warranty does not cover damage caused by accidents or misuse, nor does it cover the natural breakdown of materials which occur over extended use and time. (e.g. zipper failure or fabric abrasion)."

This is not lifetime.

"If it is defective, you have certain statutory rights with the store who sold the product to you."

And this quote confirms that it is at the discretion of the retailer.

Big Agnes Pitchpine SL Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Down

June 24, 2009

All BA bags have no insulation on the bottom of the bag. This is for two main reasons: one, once insulation is compressed, i.e. lying on top, it does not insulate, so BA cut out the middle man. Second, the back of every BA bag has a full length sleeping pad sleeve that will accommodate the corresponding pad size. BA's pads are 2.5 in. thick and are incredibly comfortable. Sliding the pad in allows for the user to never slide off the pad and compromise the bag temp. rating. Also, the reduction of insulation and minimal fabric usage allows for a slightly lighter bag. I have the Pomer Hoit with an Insulated Air Core pad and the system works perfectly. You can also deflate the pad and pack the two together in one stuff sack. Any pad will fit because of the similar dimensions, they just might not be as snug! I highly recommend the BA sleeping systems.

Just read the note at the end of the product description and BC should fix it. Not using a pad with ANY sleeping bag is just wrong. A bags temp. rating is dependent on a sleeping pad of some sort. A 20 deg. bag with no pad becomes just a piece of fabric as will any other sleeping bag of any temp. rating.

Any mountaineering boot that has front and back welts is compatible with this crampon. Lightweight boots usually don't have welts, but they might. It fits everything you want just fine. If you want a couple amenities you should look at a bivy with a pole or two. BD makes one and so do Big Agnes and OR. They offer a little head room and keep the fabric off you if you have to zip it up during rain, etc. Check out the Black Diamond Lightsabre, for the money it is the best. Two poles and it only weights 3 oz. more. This TNF will work great for what you want though. Good luck and have fun on the trip.

Revolution Climbing, Inc. Mission Pad

Revolution Climbing, Inc. Mission Pad

Rating for this product: 5 May 19, 2009

From the original company of crash pads and climbing holds (S7, Pusher, Cordless). The velcro is awesome for a closure system and the padding is great for circuits and highballs alike! Great pad all around.

Ridiculous-ly Awesome

CAMP USA Nano 23 Express Quickdraw

CAMP USA Nano 23 Express Quickdraw

Rating for this product: 4 May 19, 2009

This draw is pretty amazing. Super lightweight and feels bomber on any fall. Only drawback is that the Nano is super small, sport climbing only for this draw, or at least no multitasking.

Great Long Draw

Mammut Express Set Moses Wire Gate Quickdraws

Mammut Express Set Moses Wire Gate Quickdraws

Rating for this product: 5 May 19, 2009

I highly recommend this setup for any trad climber or just for some longer draws at anchors and where rope drag may be an issue. The moses is light, but big enough for my big paws to use and the dyneema runners are, as usual, sick!

Evolv Pontas Lace Up Climbing Shoe

May 18, 2009

They are an aggressive all-rounders. Think of the Anasazi lace-up from 5.10 or the Miura from La Sportiva. Both aggressive, but comfortable enough for all-round climbing.

Outdoor Research Crocodiles Gaiter - Men's

May 18, 2009

To answer question...
1. OR has an infinite guarantee(the guy from Nordstrom's bought them way back when and duplicated the "lifetime" Nordstrom warranty) so you can take them to any OR dealer and swap them out or have the shop send them in to repair.

2. I am also size 13, 6'2" and 175lbs! (close enough) The large should be fine for the skinny legs. I have pretty athletic legs, but skinny (soccer, climbing, cycling), and they wrap around great and cinch down too.

Good Luck!

Brunton Talon Canister Stove

May 18, 2009

On any canister stove it is always recommended and cautioned that a windscreen should NOT be used because the fuel is inside the windscreen and could heat up and explode. There are a couple stoves that have windscreens attached to the stove element and therefore not trapping heat with the canister (Primus has one) but typically you will never see a canister stove come with a windscreen, which would be the first clue that you shouldn't do it. A wind barrier blocking the wind from a foot away or so would be the best option.

The North Face Aconcagua Down Vest - Men's

May 18, 2009

Typically down will always work its way out somehow in a down anything! You could seam seal to prevent the problem or seam tape. You should never pull them out if they are sticking out because that simply opens the hole to more. You should try to push any feathers back in to the garment.

I can't speak for this bag or the BD crampon bag (i have cyborgs), but i have a couple friends with G12s and they just got the 12 point rubber tip protectors and then can throw them in their pack. Hope you find something.

Yakima SKS Lock Cores - 12 pack

May 15, 2009

Yes, BUT you have to order them from a Yakima dealer and give them your serial number for the other lock cores, so that the tumblers will match your cores you already have. AGAIN, you must order from Yakima.

Black Diamond Demon Backpack - 1953cu in

May 12, 2009

The Demon doesn't have a dedicated rope management system. However the side compression straps on the Demon will carry a rope for sure. The BD Speed might be a better option and you can remove the top loader for a smaller commuter style pack. Not sure if this will help!

MSR XGK EX Multi-Fuel Stove

May 12, 2009

Either will work. I think it might be a little dangerous to light with a flint spark because you might have to leave the gas on longer than you would for a match allowing for a larger flame. I am not sure though. Good luck, don't singe your eyebrows!

MontBell U.L. Super Stretch Hugger #0 Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down

May 11, 2009

They are both really great bags and before this year i would have been hard pressed because the Marmot used to only have a 1/4 zipper. Now the zipper is full length and with the lifetime free refill and $10 wash (Marmot will refill the down in the bag for the life of the bag. That means you basically get a new bag whenever you want!), i would go with the Marmot 10 out of 10 times. The Montbell has some great features (elasticized baffles that "hug" and the cinch foot box) but unless you actually need them, then i don't think they are fully worth it. Plus Marmot was and is at the forefront of the sleeping bag market (They own 1 of only the 3 down facilities in the USA, REI is another, can't remember the third.) and their temp ratings are real world and lab tested to ensure "comfort" and "extremes". Good luck with your choice!

Powerful Stove

Brunton Flex Canister Stove

Brunton Flex Canister Stove

Rating for this product: 4 May 8, 2009

This stove is very powerful and cranks out a short boil time. It also packs incredibly small and folds out ready to go in seconds. Highly recommend it for isobutane (canister) stoving! 4 stars because of the lack of pot stabilization.

Marmot Original DriClime Windshirt - Men's

May 7, 2009

You are kind of in between. I am 6'2" 180 lbs. and a large is great. I think a large would be good for you, it might be a little long but you are only 4 inches shorter. You should be good.

Petzl Ecrin Roc Climbing Helmet

Yes it does. The suspension allows for this which in turn allows for more ventilation and a place to put a route map on an alpine ascent or to hide a beanie before you want to actually put it on.

Snow Peak GigaPower Stove, Titanium Auto Ignition

May 5, 2009

No. A butane canister is much like a hairspray bottle. They both have completely different connections and fuel mixes. The most important thing is that you make sure that the fuel canister you do get is a thread on like any Isobutane canister will be...not a punch on or a bottle tip insert, but thread on.

Black Diamond Cyborg Crampons

May 4, 2009

I think the best thing to do is to order them directly from BD. The antiballing plates will still work with the crampon, you just need a different adjustment bar. However...i have size 12.5 Vasque M-Possible boots with these exact crampons and i still have two notches before my bar maxes out. So if you are the same size you might be fine. Just thought i would let you know. Cheers.

CamelBak Chaos Hydration Pack - 2L

May 1, 2009

I disagree with Angus. Any hydration pack that has any water in it balloons and would make the outside pocket smaller...considerably. If you are just using it for storage and not using the bladder or hydration capability then go for it, but then it just becomes a bag. I might recommend the BD BBee pack or Bullet, or a larger Camelbak pack. Again, this pack is fine if you will use it only as a pack and not for hydration which is what it is intended for and equipped for.

By the way, i have a Lobo, which is pretty much the same thing, and i have never been able to fit a DSLR body and one lens, much less two. At least not safely and securely.

Simond Anaconda Cup Ice Tool

May 1, 2009

Those two are almost the exact same tool except for the grip and hand rest on the Anaconda. I would get the Anaconda for any mixed because of the grip and hand rest. I don't know if i would use these for strictly mixed climbing either...they don't have a very aggressive geometry for easy pick placement in cracks and on crimps. I would suggest Coyote, Nomic, Viper, reactor, or cobra...your call though. Good luck!
