Optimus Stella Plus Stove & Terra Cook Set Kit

July 10, 2008

What kind of canister are you using with this stove. I was reading that the Optimus Stella+ is designed for use with a gas canister containing a 70/30 mix of butane and propane. Do you have to buy a Optimus canister? This is my first stove and I don't know where to buy a 70/30 mix canister. Thanks,

Anything Steep

Scarpa Booster Climbing Shoe

Scarpa Booster Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 May 1, 2008

The break-in process is almost unbearable, you'll constantly put them on and off,but after a week the material feels comfortable and the shoes stretch a bit. They are excellent on steep walls and roofs/caves. The rubber on the heel is thin so this allows greater sensitivity while heel hooking. The rubber patch on the toes hasn't worked well on plastic holds, but it felt solid outdoors. The downturn toebox allows you to apply maximum power to your toes and keeps you clinging onto the smallest footholds. The velcro fastener straps are really aggressive and lock your foot in place. I wear a 9.5 in La Sportiva Solutions, and a 10.5 in La Sportiva Muira, and in the the Scarpa Boosters I wear a 10(a 10.5 probably would have been better). My foot is a size 11. I recommend these as a secondary pair of shoes for those steep problems.

Awesome shoe

La Sportiva Solution Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Solution Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 July 27, 2007

I wear a 12 (45.5) in street shoe size, but I had to size down to a 9.5 (42.5) in the Solutions (I have a narrow foot). I personally wanted them tight so could I pop them on right before a climb and pop off when I'm done. However, if you plan on can keeping them on for an hour or two I wouldn't recommend going down two sizes. As far as performance goes, heel hooking is incredible, edging is excellent, and the rubber is very sticky. If steep walls, overhangs and roof problems are your thing these shoes will suit you well. They also don't smell bad after a climbing session…..
