Line Mothership Alpine Ski

April 23, 2009

Has anyone been on the 195s? With the early rise(4mm @ 15cm down ski) I'm wondering what length they actually feel like. Combine that with the twin tip and these could literally feel like a 180cm fat ski! Looking at these, 190 Katana, 190 Gotamas and 191 Mantras. I ski Squaw and Kirkwood, as much off piste as possible. Pow, crud, trees, cliffs, chutes, and love to lay down long fast turns when I have to be on trail. I am 6'2", 215 and have been skiing for 30+ years. Was most recently on Prophet 100s which I loved, but always seemed a little too soft and just a tad unstable at top speed. Looking hard at the Motherships(185-195?), but wanted comparisons between the Volkls as well. Opinions and recommendations welcomed.

Volkl Katana Alpine Ski

Katana 190 vs. Mantra 191
6'2" 220 30+yrs. of skiing. Ride Squaw and Kirkwood in variable conditions. Want a stiff board to plow through crud, powder. Like to go fast. Been on Prophet 100s for 3 years and loved 'em, but they always seemed a tad too soft. Recommendations?

Volkl Gotama Alpine Ski

April 7, 2009

6' 2" 215lbs. Just rode Prophet 100s last 2 years and dug 'em, but major issues with quality of build(bent one on a high speed fall, had one delam the entire base after a nice core shot). Ski Tahoe 99% and am thinking Goats in a 190(maybe 183), or Motherships 185. 32 years skiing, Squaw and Kirkwood are my home, so I like steeps, cliffs and just pointin' at times. Thoughts?
