Ahh, now I see it...I would get the Load Warrior 30 with some Pack it cubes and half cubes to organize the small stuff. The shoe compartment might be a bit small for large hiking boots.

This is a split frae design- One side has compression wings to secure items inside, and the other side has two mesh pockets- one sized for a large cube and the other one with a waterresistant fabric for toiletries.

It has a removable dayback that you can stuff a lot into and works as the 2nd carry on piece. For lighter trips the daypack can be left inside. The main bag has backpack straps in case you run out of pavement. This bag is covered by a no matter want warranty so it can stand some abuse!

Augie,Most of the major US airlines and some international ones require that the carry on be no bigger than 45 linear inches. Hello, I am Owen from Patagonia Footwear; We build these with a taped seam construction and waterproof leathers. Overtime you might want to retreat the leather but you should be good to go.

They're supposed to be casual shoes, but I don't think durability is the issue. The wool uppers aren't waterproof at all, so in snow you'd just be soaked.- I've got a pair that I have worn in Colorado; My feet stayed dry though I was not snowshoing; you can spray them with a waterproofing and that helps a lot!

They are pretty much the same. Just order what size you normally wear. If you happens to be too big or small, just send them back and backcountry will send you the size you need. They have great customer service.
