Single speed 29er is what I ride. 9 foot 4 weight rods are what I cast. Never Summer boards are what I turn. A finger tip is what I'm missing.

Burton Custom Smalls Snowboard - Kids' - 09/10
December 14, 2009
If it were me, I would steer clear of a child's snowboard for this young man. In particular, size 10 shoes may lead to a bit of toe drag on this somewhat narrow (231mm) board. Additionally, the weight and age would justify a slightly longer board than what is available in this model. For example, I would consider the 151cm Burton Clash if he is riding the whole mountain or perhaps the 152cm Burton Deuce if he is spending most of his time in the park.

Burton Clash Snowboard
February 4, 2009
You want to look at the waist width measurement. With his physical description something with a waist width of at least 26.0cm would probably be best. With this in mind, the Burton Clash may not be the best choice.

Burton Bullet Snowboard - Wide - 08/09
February 4, 2009
Honestly, with size 13 kicks this board may be a bit narrow for you. Length is really more dependent on the terrain type but at your physical description I'd be looking for a board in the 163 to 168 range with a waist width in the 26.5 ballpark.

Ride Concept TMS Snowboard

With a waist width of 25.2 on the 164 you're very likely to encounter heel/toe drag. Look for a board with a waist width of at least 26.0 and you'll be much happier with your ride.

Burton Clash Snowboard
January 8, 2009
You'll most likely want a board with a waist width greater than 265mm, maybe greater than 270mm if the stance angles are near zero. At the posted physical dimensions I would imagine a board in the 160cm to 170cm range but that all depends on riding style.

Take a look at the Never Summers with their rocker & camber technology. I was able to demo a 163 and 166 Legacy a couple weeks ago in Telluride and was super impressed and ready to make the purchase once the wallet recovers.

Burton Twin Snowboard

Anything with a waist width under 255mm and you'll have toe or heel drag depending on your angles, boots/binders, etc. I wear 11.5 Salomons and prefer boards in the 260mm to 270mm waist width range.
