Patagonia Footwear Boaris Shoe - Men's

Patagonia Footwear Boaris Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 7, 2009

I really like the style of these kicks and the Vibram sole is a really nice touch. Unfortunately they were just a bit too narrow for my foot and after three days there were some pain points on the outside of the foot where the stitching creates a noticeable seam.

Oakley A Frame Goggle

Oakley A Frame Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 March 5, 2009

I have yet to find another goggle that outperforms the A Frames. They vent well, they are very comfortable on my largish noggin, they fit well with my helmet, and they look sick. The Blue Iridium lenses work really well for Colorado blue bird days and have survived numerous swipes from stray tree branches.

Burton Clash Snowboard

February 4, 2009

You want to look at the waist width measurement. With his physical description something with a waist width of at least 26.0cm would probably be best. With this in mind, the Burton Clash may not be the best choice.

Burton Bullet Snowboard - Wide

February 4, 2009

Honestly, with size 13 kicks this board may be a bit narrow for you. Length is really more dependent on the terrain type but at your physical description I'd be looking for a board in the 163 to 168 range with a waist width in the 26.5 ballpark.

Ride Concept TMS Snowboard

February 4, 2009

With a waist width of 25.2 on the 164 you're very likely to encounter heel/toe drag. Look for a board with a waist width of at least 26.0 and you'll be much happier with your ride.

A good all-purpose shell

Marmot Rubicon Jacket - Men's

Marmot Rubicon Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 4, 2009

I've used this shell for a variety activities and it has done well in everything it has faced. For skiing/snowboarding it's a great shell that can be used in a wide range of weather conditions. I took it sailing in the San Juan islands and it proved it's waterproof capabilities in a consistent down pour. My only complaint is the stitching is starting to fray and the hook & loop closures on the wrist have worn out quickly.

Nixon The Rover Watch

Nixon The Rover Watch

Rating for this product: 5 February 4, 2009

I've had my Rover for nearly 5 years and I still love it. I have gotten many compliments on it's appearance from both guys and gals. It's heavy but not too heavy, the band is comfortable, and the double clasp is secure. I've beat the hell out of this watch yet it still keeps precise time and wears it's battle scars with pride.

Burton Clash Snowboard

January 8, 2009

You'll most likely want a board with a waist width greater than 265mm, maybe greater than 270mm if the stance angles are near zero. At the posted physical dimensions I would imagine a board in the 160cm to 170cm range but that all depends on riding style.

Smith Fuse Goggle

Smith Fuse Goggle

Rating for this product: 3 January 8, 2009

So yeah, the field of view is great considering they aren't spherical. And the Sensor lens is great for flat and low light. I have an older pair with the red mirrored lens which have worked well on blue bird days. But ugh, they fog much quicker than any of my A frames and it just annoys me that a helmet helper has to be used if you happen to wear a helmet larger than a small.

Swix F4 Universal Paste Wax

Swix F4 Universal Paste Wax

Rating for this product: 3 January 7, 2009

My expectations weren't high since this is a paste rub on wax. It does the job when you lack the time to break out the iron but it only lasts one or two runs before wearing off.

Rating for this product: 4 January 7, 2009

I was lucky enough to be given a full assortment of Toko Dibloc waxes and they have a great formulation for various snow conditions but the wax seems to break down rather quickly ... the wax is great on the first day out but after that it's noticeable that it's time to throw some more wax on the base.

Swany X-Cell II Glove - Men's

Swany X-Cell II Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 December 18, 2008

I really wanted to like these gloves and Swany has never let me down in the past. But they just don't keep my fingers as warm as they should for the amount of insulation they have. The leather is very nice and I have to admit that they are constructed to withstand tons of abuse but I really feel there are better gloves out there for the price.

Rating for this product: 4 December 18, 2008

Hardly notice that I'm wearing a PFD when this sucker is on. I've got broad shoulders and it does rise a bit more than I'd like but for the most part it's a very solid PFD. And the front pocket is super handy for holding everything from a digital camera to a PBR.

Blundstone 500 Series Original Boot - Men's DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 December 18, 2008

I bought my first pair while spending a year abroad in Wollongong and they lasted 7 years. My second pair is on year 5 and shows no sign of letting me down. I like these boots because they look good for both work and play and can be dressed up or down depending on the situation. They are very comfortable for all day wear and have a fair amount of traction for snow/ice.

Good lightweight and low profile hiker that is very comfortable and does not pack out. The sole is a bit softer than I expected and thus wears a bit quickly. The style reminds me of old Adidas hikers from 15+ years ago which is not a bad thing.

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 18, 2008

Giro 2008 G10 MX Helmet

Giro 2008 G10 MX Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 December 18, 2008

It's hard to find any serious faults with this helmet. It's light and has a low profile; the adjustable vents keep the noggin comfortable; the visor is handy for blocking a high sun and low branches; the addition of a TuneUps kit is awesome. But as others have mentioned the visor makes it tough to lift your goggles off your face and I feel as though the visor somewhat limits airflow to the goggles.
