Vs Osprey Map Wrap

SealLine Map Case

SealLine Map Case

Rating for this product: 4 August 29, 2011

I bought this to replace my Osprey Map Wrap which is waterproof material but I found the stitching allows water to seep in under a true downpour.
These just passed the shower test and appear to be bomb proof. So compared to the Osprey...
The Osprey is perfect for strapping to your shoulder strap and keeping as a quick reference.
The Sealines can be rolled and strapped in a similar but less convenient manner. I'm considering strapping on a lanyard and velcro to get the convenience of the Osprey (I really loved that thing till it leaked).
Sealines are more versatile. You can strap it to your boat deck, your shoulder strap, the back of your buddy's pack. It also allows you to view both sides of that map while the Osprey only has one side as see through.
Most important though, these are REALLY waterproof even without seam sealing.
Only lost one star because I've been spoiled by the Osprey shoulder strap attachment and this doesn't have that feature.

Perfect for OC navigators

Osprey Packs Map Wrap

Osprey Packs Map Wrap

Rating for this product: 5 April 28, 2011

I love orienting. I loved it in the Army and I love it backpacking. I like to continually do quick peaks at the map and do a quick dead reckoning orientation. This is perfect because it is waterproof, can hold plenty of maps, and I attach it to my shoulder strap with the Velcro strap and a small s-biner for quick attachments.
I've had several people ask about it with envy when they seen it in use on (or quite often off) the trail. If you like to take to pour over maps, get one.

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Pro Binding -108mm

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Pro Binding -108mm

I loved them on my BD Justice setup. Stable and stiff. Then the toe binding just broke off on my first turn to head down for a beer. This was just after 4 days at A-Basin. On the bright side, the Ski Patrol girl that carried the one ski for me as I skied down on the other was incredibly cute. If you're reading this, call me...

MontBell U.L. Super Stretch Hugger #0 Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down

February 13, 2010

Don't know about this exact model but I plan on buying one. Since nobody had the exact answer, I'll try to help.
My Montbell #3 seems to outperform my North Face Cat's Meow even though it is rated 10 degrees higher. If anything the stretch adds warmth from the lack of cold spots and preventing drafts.
Bonus: Even at 6'1" I can bend my knees well enough to slip on some layers before unzipping.

Therm-a-Rest Ridge Rest Sleeping Pad

March 25, 2009

Just be consistent with which side. It'll keep your bag cleaner and if you are layering with an air pad it will reduce the chance of a small poker getting picked up off the ground one time, then pushed into your air pad the next. Small chance but worth the tiny effort.
