Cloudveil Down Patrol Jacket - Men's

January 28, 2011

I have used this to ski and it works well, you should be warned though it is insanely warm, anything above 5-10 degrees would be too warm for this coat. One of the days i skied it was snowing sideways and the coat held up fine, that said when it is pushing zero degrees snow doesn't melt much and reduces the need for water resistance.

This is a great piece of gear run's nicely to size, incredibly wind-proof and warm. Powder skirt hooks right into my Patagonia pant. For Size reference I am 5'10" 185lbs and in a Large.

Solid Jacket

Marmot PreCip Jacket - Men's

Marmot PreCip Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 10, 2009

I've had the jacket now for about a month and had the opportunity to use it in semi tropical rain and on a ski trip. 40 degree weather at mammoth was handled nicely with just this shell and a base layer. The warmer wetter climate revealed the jacket to be clammy against the skin, that is really it's only shortfall.

CW-X Stabilyx 3/4 Length Tight - Men's

CW-X Stabilyx 3/4 Length Tight - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 29, 2009

I am 5'10" 180 and went with a medium, fit is good an snug but not too tight. I use these in place of long underwear when I ski and would highly recommend them, the breathe fabulously and have incredible support. The only down side is under my Westcomb Vapor pants they can get a little cold especially when pressed against the shell..

Hardcore Goodness

Hestra Heli Glove - Women's

Hestra Heli Glove - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 29, 2009

Most of the guides we skied with in AK used Hestra gloves so they were a natural consideration when my old North Face work gloves wore out. In temps above 0F these are excellent gloves and keep your hands very warm, waterproof performance is as good as it should be. Sizing based on the chart is a bit tight though I had to send mine back and go a size up.

My pair have about 10 days on them in Cali and CO, great pant for the West Coast, little light for those 4 degree days in Vail.
