Two thumbs up

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad - Mummy

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad - Mummy

Comfy pad, and the mummy shape doesn't make me lightheaded when I blow it up. Definitely recommended over rectangular inflateable pads...

It rocks

MontBell Ultralight Down Inner Parka - Men's

MontBell Ultralight Down Inner Parka - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 11, 2011

I love this piece. It is exactly what I was looking for - something lightweight and packable for Spring and Fall trips where my winter puffy is overkill. Something that is small and light that mostly lives in the pack until you need it. I had on a recent White Rim mtn. bike trip where the weather deteriorated from the forecast and it totally saved my ass. I was warm, even though it was cold, windy and raining on and off. One thing that surprised me is that the hand warmer pockets don't have zippers. It hasn't been a problem, and in retrospect, it is designed as a layering piece, so no zippers makes sense. I just didn't expect it. All in all, this piece rocks - and in earthy tones too...

Beware

The North Face Big Sur Short - Men's

The North Face Big Sur Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 June 16, 2009

Watch out for the super short rise. I really wanted to like these shorts, but they totally rode up my ass, even when I yanked them down low on my hips, obvious-boxer-style.

Stupid freaking sizing

prAna Sonora Shorts - Men's

prAna Sonora Shorts - Men's

Rating for this product: 1 June 16, 2009

I've bought several prana pants and shorts over the years and I foolishly orderd some of these shorts without trying them on. I needed a new pair of climbing shorts and bought an XL based on the last pair of pants I had and Hey! they were WAY too large! Genius! With prana stuff, sometimes I'm a large, sometimes and extra large, depending on the year and style. Why prana doesn't go with actual waist measurements is beyond me.

La Sportiva Trango Light Low Hiking Shoe - Men's

La Sportiva Trango Light Low Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 25, 2007

These are pretty beefy, substantial approach shoes. These aren't soft, running shoe type rigs. These would be great for long days on ridges where you would want some more support and protection from talus. You can bust out some 5.8 moves if you have to, but they are a bit on the clunky side to inspire much confidence on technical rock. And they're a bit hot on the feet in the summer. All around a solid shoe that I'm sure will last longer than most approach type shoes.
